The roster may be a bit too vanilla. I have been tempted to include an obscure and/or retro character like Takumaru and such but maybe for another time.

Um... I'm not too sure. That few amount of slots to begin with isn't very likely, even with some of the characters. In fact, it basically looks exactly the same as Brawl's roster with a Mii spot.

Yeah you could say I'm pretty conservative regarding Brawl's roster. Ever since Toon Link's (And to a lesser extent Sonic's) reveal I've been thinking there's going to be no more then 3 cuts. And the roster here implies that heavily.

It's also as I noted a bit too vanilla with not too many risks taken other then arguably Shulk.

So guys, the last couple of months I've thought of several unorthodox playable character selection ideas that are definitely possible (as in they are the/a main character in a Nintendo-owned IP game), but man, the last few weeks I've hit a mental drought of names.

So I wanna ask... do any of you have any such characters you've thought of that could wind up being playable lately=????

I'm pretty sure Sakurai said he wouldn't include characters from other fighting games...

And I'm pretty sure Sakurai said that the Animal Crossing humans wouldn't be playable characters...

Point is, Sakurai can change his mind on things (although I doubt he will change his mind on that this time around).

I think the biggest reason he did that is because he knew, he just knew that Mario and Luigi were verrrrryyyy similar to Ryu and Ken moveset-wise.

I also think of a WarioWare character, like Ashley or Mona. But my love for Ashley has left me obsessed. Though either of them could wind up in this franchise one day.

Eh, we've gone through all those, although quite frankly, I have never seen a really solid Chibi-Roob moveset.

Ashley and Mona... eh. I think Jimmy would be a better choice.

So is Sukapon, and I doubt that would stop Sakurai (or you could stretch it and say Little Mac).

Honestly, I just think Nintendo doesn't have many quality fighting game characters, and most big 3rd party companiesdon't have fight game characters as their mascot.

Shadow Mario only appear in two games and Bowser Jr don't even wear the bandana who allowed him to transform anymore.

If Bowser Jr was to be given two moveset I think it would be one where he fight with his paintbrush and one where he fight in his koopa clown car.

And though it wasn't specifically stated by him, I think Sakurai might not just want to add third party fighter game characters, Sukapon could possibly be a special case since it's a Nintendo character, though I'm not certain.

I don't think it will happen at this point. If Junior rarely use Shadow Mario, then what's the point? I'd be shocked for it to happen though, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too soon.

I do think that adding fighting-game characters in Smash is kinda uncreative.... like "oh, I cannot come up with a moveset for this character from racing/exercise/platformer/simulation/etc. games so I will just add that character from fighting games instead because they already have movesets laid out".

(yea ive been reduced to stalking the cite because of school) someone asked how wed feel if jiggs was the pokemon announced for X and Y and i was thinking about it and i think my reaction would be mixed. one i wouldnt be pumped but thats just cause im not a jiggs fan. but it would also make me wonder where the team is at developing characters. i mean, in my mind jiggs should be one of those characters developed last and cut if there are time constraints. but if jiggs is announced i would start to wonder, why she was starting to be developed and what that means about the release date or when they are going to start constructing new characters.

(yea ive been reduced to stalking the cite because of school) someone asked how wed feel if jiggs was the pokemon announced for X and Y and i was thinking about it and i think my reaction would be mixed. one i wouldnt be pumped but thats just cause im not a jiggs fan. but it would also make me wonder where the team is at developing characters. i mean, in my mind jiggs should be one of those characters developed last and cut if there are time constraints. but if jiggs is announced i would start to wonder, why she was starting to be developed and what that means about the release date or when they are going to start constructing new characters.

Pretty good. Just replace Shulk with Issac, and I'm not sure about Tiki, it's a cool idea, but I think it should be save for more popular lords. Also get rid of Zael & Aeron.

So true... most of the retro debates seem to be about who the second retro rep after Takamaru might be...

My personal pick for the second retro rep is Duck Hunt Dog... but most of the suggestions are usually for Mach Rider, Balloon Fighter (who is looking unlikely now thanks to Villager), Lip, Muddy Mole, and Sheriff.

You don't "know" about Tiki? Let's be real. Scrooge McDuck has a better chance of making it into Smash 4. If we don't get Roy or Chrom, I think it is safe to say that we won't get another Fire Emblem rep. It will be just Marth and Ike. I already know you feel this way. I agree with your assessment though.
