Actually the reason I dropped Ninten was only because Mother 2 is so similar to Mother 1 in terms of style and characters which may make it unnecessary to represent Mother 1. I don't see his old design as an issue since it'd be so easy to redesign and there are PSI powers unique to Mother 1. I'd still say he's more likely than Krystal, but that's just me.

Thank you for actually saying that instead of completely ignoring it and acknowledging it's existence when I posted it.
But I'm not sure how telling you that Sheriff isn't Nintendo's first character was an opinion and not a fact.
You still left many questions unanswered and just ignored pretty much everything I threw back at you but whatever. If you aren't going to even try to tell me why he's such an important character there is no real point to consider your roster legit if you can't tell me how and why a character on it fits in.

I'd consider the horses from EVR race as much of a character as even less of character than Nintendog.And I left many questions unanswered because they were already answered questions. Like "Why is having an Arcade character more important than having another NES character?". Because Sheriff represents JUST the arcade. He's not a character who debuted on it, but represents a different series.

Also it's hard to read black text on a black background.

His moveset potential is very strong. He might not seem like much, but he can do some neat tricks with that spear.

At least, in my opinion that's good enough reason to support the character.

some might say Prince Fluff but Bandana is more popular and is in more games (only playable in 1 though)

yeah I don't see Kirby getting any more characters anytime soon. we have the essentials and the development time would be better utilized on someone else.

Thus he is the first Nintendo Character.

Like I say, you simply see Snake as character that can be removed even if his kit or work behind means nothing when in reality it has taken a lot from Sakurai and the development team to create, and not bringing him again in the next installment would make all that work to waste. I can tell you right now that at least the moveset of Snake is by far one of the most complex and yet rewarding when played right, I can assure you that Lucas and Lucario by far those two dosen't have or will have as close as something as what Snake has in moveset and I will risk to say that not even a single character from Nintendo could bring to the table for now, what Snake brings in game design wise and game development to Smash.

I did never put on question the popularity of Lucas or even Lucario. I ask you what they can bring different than a character like Snake, Lucas with Ness both hold the series together and its fine but if you tell me, who game wise as a moveset is more different Lucas/Ness/Snake? The obvious answer Snake, he brings another whole moveset, when the other two characters hold some similarities.

A lot of people from smash community will lose a lot more if Snake is cut than Lucas. Snake brings more things to the game than Lucas, gameplay, game design, game development and even fanbase, so yeah I will cut Lucas first than Snake (especially if Erathbound/Mother has a representation in Ness).

I don´t know why you put in a pedestal Earhbound and say that hold a far more precious place than Metal Gear? But here is the catch I´m not talking about series here, I´m talking about characters and what they can bring each and so far Snake brings more than Lucas, sorry but is the truth.

Because I didn´t cut Lucario over Snake, thats your assumption, to tell you the truth I cut Lucario for Mewtwo so if you need to blame someone it should be Mewtwo, by the way if you are so focused that I cut Snake over Lucario, I will tell you that I would prefer to give the fifth character slot to a Mario representative first than the Pokemon series. And you can say whatever you want for popularity but again Snake brings more as character with his gameplay than Lucario.

Your other question is irrelevant if Sakurai thinks is so much work to bring a character like Snake and Sonic, why did he bring Mega Man a character from Capcom, if he is doing again the work to bring some third party characters I would think he will do it again, especially if say character brings his unique mix and color to the roster and half of the work is done, so the resources from the last game could be spent well again (especially Snake, you don´t know how much work Sakurai did put in Snake, I can assure you that is not something as easy to cut as you think).

For your question about Konami and the relationship with Nintendo is simple marketing, very basic, do you think the install base for 3DS or Wii is the same for people that bought a PSP or a PS3? The answer is NO, I would tell you with cars instead, the people that are using 3DS and Wii are the people that like Mini Coppers and Smarts, small cars, with great design and very friendly design, the people that own a PS3 and PSP are people that like elegance, power and luxury like Z350, TT or even a Jaguar, and you sell Longines watches, who will be the people that would buy your watches? and if you have advertising budget who will go towards? The people that own Mini Copper´s or the people that own Jaguar´s.

Is simple as that, the Wii and 3DS will probably never sell as many as copies of Metal Gear Solid as the PSP or PS3 counterparts because of the different segments and Nintendo can´t make Konami change his philosophy and business plans from one day to another so Metal Gear Solid will be in Nintendo platforms even if they flop.

And you can counter thats the reason Snake should not be in Smash because is not even for the segment of people that are owners of Nintendo consoles but you are forgetting something we are not talking about series here, we are talking about characters and Snake once he is in Smash he is treated completely different for the simple reason that is not his games, he is another character that is there to give different flavor to the Smash Universe like Mario or even Jigglypuff.

I was mostly teasing with your roster. Realistically, Snake doesn't look like he's coming back. Lucas will stay, Lucario looks like he's going to be safe. Your argument is valid in terms of how you made your roster. But really, Snake doesn't and probably will not have any priority over any first party character. Character placement are not based on movesets. It's based on a character's significance in Nintendo's history and of course, a lot on popularity. Do you honestly think Snake would have been popular in the Smash community if he didn't appear in Brawl? I doubt ANYONE would care or even suggest the bloke if he didn't make that guest appearance. A lot of people who even main Snake don't even care for the MGS series. And really, if Snake doesn't return to Smash 4, I can guarantee the same people who mained Snake will flock to another character with a broken moveset or due to their tier placement. They used Snake because of his broken movesets and high placement on the tier list. Of course, that's all on them. Their choice if they wanna play the game that way. Cheers.

An original MGS title would have sold well on Wii. I disagree with that.

I main Ness, and Lucas is completely different. You're looking at the character in the most superficial sense. So, no you're wrong. Just because they share 3 specials that are a bit similar but frankly, heavily altered, don't make them entirely the same. I thought Lucas brought a different take on a character from that universe and to me, I find him more satisfying to play as than Snake. Lucas feels more rewarding than using Snake with broken movesets. That's just me, though.

And I don't understand how cutting Snake and losing a lot from the Smash community would be a bad thing. If you like Smash Bros, for most part it meant you liked Nintendo and their characters. Are you telling me that people just play Smash Bros to choose the BEST character moveset wise and play strictly to win? Smash Bros features mostly 1st party characters and has always been that way up until Brawl. So, no, I don't get people will lose out. Again, I don't think Nintendo will go out of their way to license Snake. Megaman is in Smash 4 most likely due to request by fans. Between Megaman and Snake, the former is far more relevent and holds a special place in Nintendo's history anyways.

I hold Earthbound higher than MGS in regards to relevance to Nintendo. Honestly, Bomberman is far more relevant to Nintendo than Snake and could bring an entirely new and fun moveset like Snake. I'd hope that if Nintendo were to license a character from Konami, it'd be Bomberman.

At the end of the day, I'm hoping no characters are cut. I wouldn't enjoy to see anyone's favorites to be removed. I'm just being realistic and judging by Kojima's disinterest in the Wii U or even Nintendo at the moment, I just can't see Snake making the cut over another 3rd party character that has contributed more to Nintendo. Look at Konami right now and see what they're doing. That company doesn't even seem remotely interested in working with Nintendo especially after the bomba that is Castlevania Lords of Shadow on 3DS. Konami isn't the same anymore. They don't have the same relationship that Capcom or any other part has with Nintendo. Look at the broader picture and beyond a moveset of a character.

The Horses in EVR Race do not have moral qualities or individual motives. They run because they are forced to and YOU bet on them. So it's not opinion, it's fact that Sheriff is the first real character from Nintendo.

Bandanna/Waddle Dee basically comes after the three already in Smash, making him practically the fourth main character.

Krystal is basically the third most important member of Team Star Fox at this point, right behind Falco. She has pretty much passed the likes of Slippy and Peppy on by.
