Serena is so sexy in the new Pokemon Anime. I really hope she makes DLC!

Gotta admit, Serena is pretty cute. I dunno if they'd ever make female trainer DLC available, though. Like, I could see them getting away with Calem as a skin for Red, but unless they go through the extra work of all of Red's voice acting with a female voice actor, it'd just seem... Strange to hear Red's voice on a female trainer.

Cute or not, I wouldn't want to be near Serena with that slightly shrill boy voice...

There's so much competition between Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Silver, Robotnik, etc. over a second Sonic character slot, that I think it would actually be better just to leave Sonic by himself.

I can imagine people fighting and yelling things like "BUT SHADOW SHOULD"VE BEEN IN! WHY SILVER?!?"

I would complain that Silver was in the game too. he's the only character I hate more than Shadow lol

I'm gonna go ahead and throw this roster in for the time being. I dunno how or why I keep swapping up my rosters, but I think this might work...

Slight roster update. Let me start by adressing the elephant in the room. Yes, I added Bluster Kong, but I like to have some risk in my roster and he think he's probably the most likely Kong to appear in Tropical Freeze. He certainly has more potenital than Dixie or King K. Rool. After all this was the most succesful Nintendo Show EVER! What you though it was Pokemon!?!?!?

take out TIngle, Roy, and the rest seem reasonable. I don't think Mother will get another rep, but those would be the options. I think the other two Awakening Reps have a better chance than Roy.

He's not likely, but very possible. I don't see how the first protagonist of MOTHER compares to a ****ing TV character because he wears a hat. Talk about naive!

yeah these are pretty much the big contenders in my book. I personally think Mach Rider stands a chance as well.

But I'll give you my reasons and tell it like it is:

Lucas - The Mother series is still popular in Japan. Shigesato Itoi has been showing up in interviews, talking about the games and wanting new players to experience the game by "republishing". That's why Earthbound was one of the first games in the .30 Nintendo Annivesary promotion on Wii U VC. Frankly, the Mother series is still relevant and hold a far more precious place in Smash Bros. than a guest such as Snake. I can explain further, but that's enough. Next.

Lucario - If you follow Pokemon at all (like seriously, FOLLOW), you'd realize that Lucario is still extremely popular in Japan. The character has been in nearly every episode of Pokemon Smash since 2007. The Pokemon has been featured in plenty of advertising and merchandising materials for the Pokemon series. It's been heavily featured in the last few episodes of the Best Wishes saga leading into next BW series. The Pokemon is also featured in the teaser for an apparent Wii U Pokemon game. And the list goes on. Again, explain to me how Snake, a 3rd party character that's frankly irrelevent to Nintendo at this point in time, should be chosen over Lucario? Makes no sense to me.

Another question- why would Nintendo go through the trouble of even LICENSING Snake or any property related to the MGS franchise? That's like free advertising for a series that will seldom show up on Nintendo's consoles. Yeah, surprising. Nintendo has to go through Konami. Shocker.

Wii had a huge install base for a new MGS title to show up on the console. But instead, Kojima and Konami still decided to bring new games to PSP with a smaller install base. Peace Walker or even a special renamed version of Portable Ops could have been ported over to Wii. That didn't happen. But that's a whole different story.

At end of the day, just because they spent so much time working on a character doesn't mean much of anything. I'm pretty sure they spent a long time creating each individual character and still, moving to Brawl, some got cut. How about that Mewtwo?

Like I say, you simply see Snake as character that can be removed even if his kit or work behind means nothing when in reality it has taken a lot from Sakurai and the development team to create, and not bringing him again in the next installment would make all that work to waste. I can tell you right now that at least the moveset of Snake is by far one of the most complex and yet rewarding when played right, I can assure you that Lucas and Lucario by far those two dosen't have or will have as close as something as what Snake has in moveset and I will risk to say that not even a single character from Nintendo could bring to the table for now, what Snake brings in game design wise and game development to Smash.

I did never put on question the popularity of Lucas or even Lucario. I ask you what they can bring different than a character like Snake, Lucas with Ness both hold the series together and its fine but if you tell me, who game wise as a moveset is more different Lucas/Ness/Snake? The obvious answer Snake, he brings another whole moveset, when the other two characters hold some similarities.

A lot of people from smash community will lose a lot more if Snake is cut than Lucas. Snake brings more things to the game than Lucas, gameplay, game design, game development and even fanbase, so yeah I will cut Lucas first than Snake (especially if Erathbound/Mother has a representation in Ness).

I don´t know why you put in a pedestal Earhbound and say that hold a far more precious place than Metal Gear? But here is the catch I´m not talking about series here, I´m talking about characters and what they can bring each and so far Snake brings more than Lucas, sorry but is the truth.

Because I didn´t cut Lucario over Snake, thats your assumption, to tell you the truth I cut Lucario for Mewtwo so if you need to blame someone it should be Mewtwo, by the way if you are so focused that I cut Snake over Lucario, I will tell you that I would prefer to give the fifth character slot to a Mario representative first than the Pokemon series. And you can say whatever you want for popularity but again Snake brings more as character with his gameplay than Lucario.

Your other question is irrelevant if Sakurai thinks is so much work to bring a character like Snake and Sonic, why did he bring Mega Man a character from Capcom, if he is doing again the work to bring some third party characters I would think he will do it again, especially if say character brings his unique mix and color to the roster and half of the work is done, so the resources from the last game could be spent well again (especially Snake, you don´t know how much work Sakurai did put in Snake, I can assure you that is not something as easy to cut as you think).

For your question about Konami and the relationship with Nintendo is simple marketing, very basic, do you think the install base for 3DS or Wii is the same for people that bought a PSP or a PS3? The answer is NO, I would tell you with cars instead, the people that are using 3DS and Wii are the people that like Mini Coppers and Smarts, small cars, with great design and very friendly design, the people that own a PS3 and PSP are people that like elegance, power and luxury like Z350, TT or even a Jaguar, and you sell Longines watches, who will be the people that would buy your watches? and if you have advertising budget who will go towards? The people that own Mini Copper´s or the people that own Jaguar´s.

Is simple as that, the Wii and 3DS will probably never sell as many as copies of Metal Gear Solid as the PSP or PS3 counterparts because of the different segments and Nintendo can´t make Konami change his philosophy and business plans from one day to another so Metal Gear Solid would not be in any Nintendo platforms in the near future for the simple reason that they will sink as fast as the Titanic.

And you can counter thats the reason Snake should not be in Smash because is not even for the segment of people that are owners of Nintendo consoles but you are forgetting something we are not talking about series here, we are talking about characters and Snake once he is in Smash he is treated completely different for the simple reason that is not his games, he is another character that is there to give different flavor to the Smash Universe like Mario or even Jigglypuff.

I didn't ignore, but it didn't disprove the possibility and was mostly you stating your opinion on why he's not important in any way whatsoever.

He's still a fairly likely candidate, regardless of whether people prefer him. That's why he's on my roster.

Well thanks! Just remember I added Bubbles as the "WTF" unlockable. Snake is the only one who I really think would be cut. If he somehow makes it in, then maybe Bubbles or Dillon can be removed instead. It was really hard for me to decide.

Only about half genuinely seem plausible. Remove Claus, Porky, Stary, Goroh, Lip, Tingle, and Waddle Dee and I think you have write a nice pool of potential newcomers.

He starred in Donkey Kong Country - He Came, He Saw, He Kong-Quered in August, which was marketed alongside Donkey Kong Country Returns 3DS, and after the smashing success of that DVD, he'll be starring in the upcoming October release of Donkey Kong Country - Raiders of the Lost Banana. That, and I think he's more important than K. Rool and Dixie.

He's MORE RELEVANT, he's unique despite being a third Kong because, well, he just is, and Smash needs more anti-heroes because there are too many villains and females as it is. Total shoo-in, if you ask me.

I'd rather have an inclusive list than an exclusive one, so those four are staying since they do have their own merits for being likely. Definitely not Paper Mario or Tingle, at least, but it'd make no sense to remove Claus and Porky yet keep Ninten. I'll throw in Dillon and Lucina, though.

Thank you for actually saying that instead of completely ignoring it and acknowledging it's existence when I posted it.
But I'm not sure how telling you that Sheriff isn't Nintendo's first character was an opinion and not a fact.
You still left many questions unanswered and just ignored pretty much everything I threw back at you but whatever. If you aren't going to even try to tell me why he's such an important character there is no real point to consider your roster legit if you can't tell me how and why a character on it fits in.
