This doesn't mean anything. You are implying that Yoshi, a mainstay since Smash 64 with a big history with Nintendo, would get a complete moveset overhaul and be made of yarn.

I didn't imply that. I mean the physical design of the character. Maybe the Final Smash would involve Yarn if they wanted to take it a step further.

well the first home console game since Story, but not the first Yoshi game since then. I don't see a the yarn series having any more influence besides a stage. possibly a costume change but more likely only a stage. u really shouldn't look to deeply into the announcement trailer. hell Yoshi wasn't in Brawls either if I recall.

Yes, I do. But, I don't think for a second that it would mean he'd replace him with the yarn version or any other version, considering the normal version of Yoshi is one of the most iconic and popular characters in gaming history, unlike this very recent version of yoshi from a game that's probably getting cancelled and otherwise would not be important at all. (EDIT: He didn't reveal Yoshi first in Brawl)

I highly doubt they'd turn Yoshi into Yarn Yoshi for Smash. I am expecting an overhaul for Yoshi though, given how he wasn't shown along with the rest of original starter characters in the first trailer.

You may get your Gamefaquies and your 4channers, but for the most part, Chrom fans here just want Chrom more than Roy. It's not that they hate Roy, it's just they like Chrom better. Some of them aren't even Chrom fans; they just think Chrom is more likely to show up. That is no justification for treating them like you do.

Yeah. I guess it is completely and utterly stupid to think that a transition THIS massive will be over-looked. They will just represent Yoshi that way he always has been. They will just ignore his biggest home console release after Yoshi's Story (14 years ago, older than Smash). I should just forget about all of the cross-promotion of other Nintendo games. Changing his PHYSICAL design is TOO crazy. They will keep his Yoshi's Story physical design. Wouldn't want to add YARN TEXTURE on one of our veterans. I am sure Sakurai didn't reveal Yoshi just because he isn't finished yet. /Sarcasm

Shadow represents the worst a company can do; fan pandering, wussing out of their own narrative for the sake of fanservice, lazy character designing, trying to appeal to a target demographic that isn't actually their main audience and thus alienating their original fans, demoting characters that were previously important to second fiddles, and trying to become 'darker and grittier' to show how mature they are.

I'll take Big the Cat over that piece of ****.

Although the other suggestions are acceptable. Even Amy. If we HAD to have a secondary Sonic rep I mean. I'd personally pick Tails, but Knuckles and Eggman are also solid choices.

Shadow the Hedgehog is literally the worst character creation this side of Baby Daisy.

Yarn Kirby is kind of like one string of Yarn. The look comes out completely different. So I wouldn't compare the two.

Edit: I didn't clarify. Yoshi in Smash 64 and Melee and Brawl is based on Yoshi's Story Yoshi. They had nothing else to compare Yoshi to. So they kept his iconic design. However, if Yarn Yoshi is successful, that sets a new kind of design. Similar to Toon Link. I am not comparing the characters or their relevance to the series. I am comparing the design transition.

Beyond lame, Waddle Dees are already one of D3's moves, plus we don't need anymore Kirby characters, and if Sakurai really feels the need to add another one it should be someone more unique like Ado, or Prince Fluff.

no that sounds about right. u seem to be under the impression that being on the home console means more than all the other games he was in. ur talking about changing the design to represent an art style that as of right now we don't know will be used again. he should be the all encompassing Yoshi we see in the past Yoshi games, the handheld games and his design that's used in the Mario titles where he's featured. the design isn't just for Yoshi's Islands sake, that's the way he's always been portrayed up until now.
