I'm not going to be a duck like everyone else kinda is right now. But if you post on here, you will get criticized for some of your odd choices.

I just thought that I would put my dream roster here, and I know most of these won't make it into the game, but everyone started yelling at me.

No, I'm not a hater. Diddy is actually a very well thought-out character and I was just thinking that maybe he isn't too popular. I wanted to have 45 characters on my roster, and I couldn't decide who to drop for newcomers.
Of all the Brawl characters that could be cut, Diddy probably wouldn't be one of them.

I put my dream roster on here. Everyone complained about how I wanted Dr. Mario to replace Mario. They would yell things like, "why would Sakurai cut Mario, he is like the most important Nintendo character".

Well, this is a prediction thread. People who post rosters here have newcomers and veterans they find most likely to be in the game. NES Mario, Knuckles, and Dr. Wiley are a no-go.

And there is NO WAY we are losing Diddy, or the Pokemon Trainer, as his Pokemon are still relevant, and they are making an anime based off him. And that many newcomers is quite a stretch. I doubt we would ever get that many in any Smash game.

And the main person who was "yelling" at you was HotFeet. Um... he's a little, how do I hang an air freshener around this, sharp around the edges. And catty.

They don't really need to have stages on both versions.
So then what stage will you fight Wii Fit Trainer, Starfy, Pikmin & Olimar, Little Mac, Takamaru, Ice Climbers, and Issac?

Y'know, Shantae wouldn't be a bad character.

Just putting it out there.

She'd rival Zero Suit Samus and Wii Fit Trainer for sure.
That goes without saying. She's one of my biggest requests. And yes, she would be a way bigger sex appeal than Wii Fit Trainer & Zero Suit Samus combined.
even if they had naked boobies

You're right. I just thought it would be a cool roster, but now I see what I did wrong. I'm sorry.

Bring back all of the Brawl veterans, as well as Mewtwo and Roy. Then add Ridley, King K. Rool, Palutena, Little Mac, Takamaru, and Shulk. Do that and everyone will love you.

Don't apologize to him. You didn't do anything wrong. If you want to support those characters, go for it. It is really funny. Once you get to know the characters that most people believe are shoe-in or which ones they think are already de-confirmed... you will laugh your ass off. Just take the constructive criticism and determine whether or not you wish to alter your roster. Trust me. No one on here posts a roster without getting at least 4 bullet points of reasonable disagreements. That is the thing. No one knows who will show up in the game. If anyone claims to, they are just conceited. They think that they could possibly predict what characters will be picked based on outdated, and inconsistent decisions of the development team. So don't you worry good sir. Welcome to the forums.

Cut the Brawl veterans indiscriminately, then add Anthony, Dixie, Magnus, King Hippo, Prince Sable and Saki. Do that, and you'll really stick it to The Man who suppresses such great rosters.

I'm starting to think Roy has earned the spot more than Chrom has and not just because he was in Melee. Also I don't see the problem with 3 FE Vets if there is no problem with 5 Pokemon vets and 4 Mario vets.

Pretty much. Really unlikely, but everyone generally has this as the basis of their roster, with their own little flairs to it.

I mean, prediction wise, I only have 4 or maybe 5 of those 8, cut a few veterans, and bam. But as long as you have good explanations for your character, and it's actually feasible, you'll be fine.

Which reminds me: I wanted to go on a realistic route and make a cut-45 slot roster. I don't want to go into the Roster Maker right now (pretty lazy), so I cut Lucario, Snake, and Toon Link (which killed me), maybe will cut Wolf/Ike, and added Palutena, Dixie, Little Mac, Takamaru, Mewtwo back, Ashley for my own personal little thing, Chrom, and a slot for some form of a Shocker, retro character (be it Sheriff, Lip, etc.). And of course other veterans and the three newcomers we have.

Cutting those characters was tough, and having only three Zelda slots was absolutely devastating, but I tried to make a unique roster I've never done before.

The main reason why the idea of three FE characters doesn't fly is that it doesn't really lead to diversifying the series any further.

Cuts? Cuts, where are you???

I'd be thrilled if no characters were cut, but I have to say that some characters will be cut. It's pretty sad... especially because my dearest Toon Link would most likely be one of the lowest priorities. But it's good nonetheless.

Last I've checked, Mario and Pokemon are bigger franchises, which is why they typically have more fighters than most other franchises.

In fact, the Mario series, overall, has the most playable characters, and this does include the Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Wario series'.

Pokemon has the second most playable reps when you treat the Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon separately.

My 45 Character Roster had cuts: Wolf, Jigglypuff, Sonic, and Snake. But this is assuming we can avoid cuts. I also suck at cutting and so does everybody.

I doubt Toon Link is a low priority. Many have mentioned his popularity and importance to the series. However, when you get to the technical aspects of the character? Toon Link is one of the easiest to develop. I think Sakurai is going to prioritize cutting characters more difficult to develop such as Pokemon Trainer, or maybe even Ridley. Then again, he didn't rush to cut Ice Climbers or Olimar. It was cited that he was having some difficulty with Ice Climbers, so I could be terribly wrong.

Oh, certainly. No one will ever get the cuts down right, because it's so unpredictable. I mean, we could only have 1-2, or maybe even 4-5. It just depends on who Sakurai finds as the highest priority. I would say characters like Toon Link, maybe Wolf, and one-time characters, despite how popular they are in their respective universes.

Still hoping Ike will stay, Lucas will stay, and I'm pretty neutral on the whole Lucario vs. Jigglypuff debate people have.

Well, I'd have to respectfully disagree. I think Toon Link certainly is popular, iconic, and easy to develop, yes. But I don't know. I feel Sakurai would start developing characters who are difficult first, and then work on the last, extremely easy characters to develop, like how we got Jigglypuff, T. Link, and Wolf in, who are all at least slightly simplistic development-wise.

But this is just personal preference, sadly coming out of the mouth of a Toon Link main. My entire argument could be thrown out the window.

That's a pretty good roster. Though I do feel like I should mention a thing or two. I'm just not too sure if Takamaru is really as likely as many seem to be making him out to be. And Dixie would be a little bit "meh" compared to King K. Rool, popularity wise anyway. And Toon Link might get switched for another version of Link, though that's just mere speculation on my part.

I don't see Toon Link getting cut in any situation really.

Well I would think Sakurai would prioritize Olimar and IC over Ridley and PT for somewhat obvious reasons but I don't exactly disagree.

I agree on the Takamaru bit. I think he is more popular here than in Japan... which is obviously a little ridiculous. How did that ever happen? I assume westerners try to compensate for what the Japanese population might want. Either way, I prefer the characters popular in Japan as opposed to in the west.
