imo, Wolf is the most likely cut, followed by Jigglypuff and Toon Link. They were low priorities in Brawl, and I don't think anything has changed enough for them to be given higher priority.

Also, thoughts on no Mario newcomers, but we get King K. Rool and Dixie Kong.

The cuts I see likely: Jigglypuff, Snake, Wolf, R.O.B., one of the Mother kids, and maybe Sonic.

Oh, to get away from this discussion for a bit, I was on YouTube looking at SSB4 videos. One person said in the comments that people who complain about Meta Knight just suck and he doesn't need to be toned down since tier lists are stupid.

Another bystander agreed, stating Meta Knight is just "a clone of Kirby with a sword".

The fact that it forces you to basically play all 3 goes against a key factor of what Smash is and that factor is having options galore. Smash is about playing the character you want to play as. So what if people want to play only Charizard? So what if people want to only play squirtile? So what if you only want to play Ivysaur? Smash is about options, and that includes being able to play as the character you want. You're not froced to use both Zelda and Sheik or Samus and ZSS (at least not in the same sense as PT). If someone wants to play soley as Charizard they should be able to, plain and simple, and that character should not be nerfed completly over time and shouldn't be forced to switch upon death. Give me one legit good reason why stamina and forced switching is a good mechanic. And none of the BS of "but people will only play 1 Pokemon instead of all 3 then" because guess what your line of thinking that a player should play all 3 is wrong as people should actually be able to play who the want however many times they want without that character getting nerfed during the match or being forced switched upon death.

I'm not a supporter of R.O.B.'s removal at all, and hate when people remove him because of that.

This. At least give us an option to play solely as a specific Pokemon, or just get rid of it completely. I'm terrible with squirtle, and decent with Charizard, but I'm a pro at Ivy. Id just want to play as him instead of constantly getting knocked out with Squirtle.

I wish I could agree with you... but I fear no amount of character balance and unique moves will stop the everyman from hating on Wii Fit Trainer for taking their precious Takamaru/Bomberman/Dixie/Zoroark/George Zimmerman's spot. In a way I almost feel like Sakurai announced her early on to get all the primary hate out of the way before release, since R.O.B. was not only an unlockable, but one of the last leaked characters - I can only guess people were disappointed because they felt like R.O.B. was something of an anti-climax, having all the 'big guns' announced early on in the Dojo's life.

Of course, it's all ******** either way - but yeah, hopefully Wii Fit Trainer getting shown off early on will help people get adjusted rather than putting a stick up people's arses as one of the last few characters, like R.O.B. did.

It doesn't matter WHO we get, personal preference combined with ignorance and stupidity will have one person say that thing about one character.

Bowser Jr. got in Smash, he obviously replaced Dixie Kong.

Ridley is in Smash? Oh great, that means we didn't get a new Pikmin 3 captain.

So now we have Toon Zelda? No wonder Mewtwo and it's new form didn't get in.

I'm sure people we say things like these in the future, no matter who gets in, there will be people whe say one random character stole the slot of another.

I agree. I mean, as soon as we saw Wii Fit Trainer I saw people on here complaining the roster's going to be ****. But we all got used to her, well, at least most of us. I think what Sakurai did was a very smart move

Unlike Zelda and Shiek and Samus and ZSS, All of his pokemon were revealed together(I think) You knew they were a three in one from the start. Taking out Stamina AND forced switching is a terrible idea, taking out one but not the other could work though. Bones OUT.

I fail to see a single notable appearance he has in the Pokemon games beyond being one of Team Rocket's Pokemon in Yellow and a starter in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, but sure, we'll add him too.

I think it's pretty redundant to even make a list of 'plausible newcomers', just because every Smash provides us with at least one newcomer that blows our idea of plausible out of the window... but yeah sure, for what it is, it's pretty solid. There's a lot more retro's I'd add personally but as the list of conventionally expected/requested characters, it's fairly concise.

What about Genesect?

Genesect is starting to stretch it considering it'll be old news by the time of X&Y without being as long-lasting as Lucario nor as 5th generation notable as Zoroark. Genesect is going to have as much of a chance as Deoxys and Darkrai at this rate, I feel, especially when compared to the other choices.

I want to have (I'm aware this is subjective, take with a grain of salt) plausible newcomers here, not every possible newcomer here.
