Medusa may be added as a villain rep, but three is a stretch, at least for Smash 4.

Palutena, Medusa, and Hades I think are the most viable choices for a KI newcomer.

If Boss characters return, however, I do see Medusa easily filling that spot. I've seen scenes of her as a giantess, so it's not hard to picture her as a very epic boss battle.

I had honestly not even thought of that, and it's basically common sense. I mean I could definitely see that as a solid opportunity for some newcomers to be revealed, and a lot of hype generated.

The question simply, is when, and who?

My personal biased opinion would be to trade Tetra for Shulk, I'm indifferent whether or not the third FE spot goes to Roy or Chrom but for a 50 slot roster I would give it a 9.5/10.

When it comes to Kid Icarus, Palutena is probably the most blunt newcomer available by virtue of her strong presence within the Kid Icarus series. She's basically the equivalent of Zelda, even being referenced on the title of Kid Icarus games. The second choice for a character would be Medusa, then after that it could fall onto Dark Pit, Magnus, Viridi, Hades, etc. Generally, Palutena seems to be the next in line overall by a deceiving amount.

Of course Palutena is next in line, she's the most logical one. Medusa is the only one I see getting in only after Palutena does and as a clone of her.

Toad: In a LOT of the Mario games, lots of potential, and very popular. (and I like him better then Bowser Jr.)
King K. Rool: VERY popular, check out the polls, most popular DK rep, villain, who doesn't have him in their roster? Pretty self explanatory.
Ridley: See King K. Rool except he's a Metroid rep. Pretty self explanatory.

I can see it unfair if King. K Rool got in, but not Dixie, and the same if Dixie got in but not King K. Rool. Would 4 DK reps be a good amount? I mean DK was by himself for 2 games, and we can all agree Diddy should have been in melee. So 4 now isn't that much if you also look at how big DK is again. DK pretty much replaced Metroid as a main Nintendo franchise (after it's fall when Rare was bought). Imo, I hope both join in, more DK rep (as it needs it), another female, another villain, both important to the franchise, and both are wanted a lot by fans.

No, not my ideal roster, THE ideal roster, it is why I wish to engage others in the discussion, so we can form a more perfect roster. I said my knowledge was limited, and rightly so, if I was creating my ideal roster there would be no doubt in my mind. However, the roster I placed was an odd amalgamation of what Sakurai's ideal would be if his knowledge was more whole and perfect while still having his general philosophy, and a flavoring probably from me. In this I am generally disregarding hardware limitation, despite what Sakurai has said about them. As for my Mii comment, I was being facetious, but why would the Mii be more ideal in such an already packed roster?

Ok, ok I´m starting to catch what are you saying (sorry english is not my native language), if we should consider a Ideal Roster without the limitations of hardware and what Sakurai´s can consider as an ideal roster (it will probably take him 5 years of development and unlimited resources XD) then let me rethink and say you should add to that roster maybe Toad, Bowser Jr., Paper Mario, Dixie Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Krystal, Tingle, Toon Link, Lucario, Roy, Chrom, Dillon, Harry (Teleroboxer), Sheriff, Dog (Duck Hunt) and others that i haven´t considering.

About the Miis they are literally a new franchise of Nintendo with games like Wii Sports (Play, Fit, Party, etc.), not only that, they are the main characters and represent the avatar of every person that has bought a new hardware in the last couple of years from Nintendo, if we add to the idea that more and more games include the function that you can play with your favourite Mii, examples of these games are Mario Kart Series, Fortune Street, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and many more games, it is not a bad idea to consider a Mii in a game like Smash Bros, especially if it already has appear in other games.

i could see both getting in. im not gonna say its a guarantee by any stretch, but its not out of the realm of possibilities. the series could pull it off considering it is the most successful of the Nintendo franchises after the big 3, and wii series. but we'll see what happens

Uprising wasn't the only game in the series. Medusa is still the recurring and main villian of the franchise. Even if Hades has higher authority plot wise.

It makes more sense when you also factor in the first Kid Icarus where she was the big bad through and through. However if you're looking at the series as a whole, Medusa has less of a presence.

except not really. physically the only thing the characters share is height. skillset wise the only thing they share is the ability to jump up and down.

I know Sakurai sad he wasn't planning on it, but what do you guys think of new characters as alternate costumes? Like Doc for Mario, Lucina for Marth, (a better) Daisy for Peach, Falco for Fox, Midna/Impa for Zelda/Sheik, Dixie for Diddy, Ninten for Ness, etc?

Uprising wasn't the only game in the series. Medusa is still the recurring and main villian of the franchise. Even if Hades has higher authority plot wise.

Medusa was really only prevalent in the original, and in Uprising pretty much only lasted as long as the game was honoring the classic, then the game moved to bigger, better things than her.

Ocarina of Time redefined the Zelda series and as a result those were the ones to impact the Zelda characters in the series. It's why Sheik remains, and why Ganondorf was in and not Ganon from the first three games. Likewise, Uprising is the game that has redefined Kid Icarus, and based on that Medusa has a fart's chance in hell to make it in over other, more relevant characters introduced and developed by Sakurai himself.

i highly doubt Kid Icarus would get 3 reps either. but Medusa would make sense as a 3rd rep. she is the main villain of the 1st game and does play a role, even though overall not as significant as other characters, in Uprising. but like we both said, its doubtful the series would warrant 3 characters at this point

Hmmm...

I mean my guess at this point, would be that they would announce a mix of veterans and a few newcomers. This would kind of validate the whole one character a month, and would shut up impatient people like myself. They'd probably show off veterans that didn't even have a chance to be revealed (assuming they are revealed accordingly with game releases) and then 2 to three newcomers if they want a real big show off.

Ugh. At least the fact that the reveals are monthly has been drilled into my brain so i'm not whining nearly as much. I've come to terms with it. But I want to see characters that I didn't 100% expect to return. Looking at you Olimar and Luigi.

For a roster so big, you should consider Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles instead of Takamaru, Isaac or Starfy. The other choice you should consider is switching Tetra for Tingle (has his own games and Toon Link is not 100% sure that will come back). I think those are the only changes I will make 7/10 for now.

What does this have to do with anything... Anyways, to think Paper Mario has a greater chance than Toad is crazy, but NOT BECAUSE Paper Mario is a bad decision, but BECAUSE Toad is higher in terms of priority. There is a totem pole to climb, and Toad is the closest to the top.

I didn't think much of Toad at first, but I think he should be in SSB4.

I'm not a fan of him or his species, but he's the only classic Mario character from SMB1 who hasn't appeared in Smash Bros yet. (Goombas, Koopas, etc don't count)

Medusa was in the original Kid Icarus, so some people might think she's more likely because she's more "recurring". (KI has only 3 games, but still.)

I'm really iffy on this whole Starfy thing. Statistically I see why he has a chance, but I just don't see him getting in. I'm saying I wouldn't be suprised if it went either way.

And yeah Toon Link...I'm leaning more towards him going bye bye. Maybe a different version of alt. Link and/or Tingle.

Also guys, I would not be suprised at all if we got another Pikmin character. Besides, the series seems to have an antagonist now, Louie. That *****.

Wouldn't give Mario's extra slot to Toad for sure, if he got one I'd give it to BJ or Paper Mario. Toad has a pretty nice spot in the game right now if you ask me. As peach's move.

Good choices with Pacman, keeping Lucario and Ike, and adding Chrom.

Why a Disney Character that has never appear in a Nintendo game is now in Smash?
