I personally liked all the Paper Mario games, even Super, and Sticker Star. Yeah, I loved the stuff from the first two and another one like it. Yet, I also liked the other two for offering something different from the plain old mario games.
I think Paper Mario would be the perfect 5th rep for Mario. Sure, many think it's unneeded, but think of it this way. Look at Lucas before he was in (even after for some people), a second Mother rep was unthinkable, yet Lucas came and by most people, gladly accepted. This shows Paper Mario can still get in, even though many are fine with what's there. Plus Paper Mario wouldn't even fit as a clone, even semiclone for that matter. The thing is if Paper Mario is in he will be excepted gladly.

Well it was made by the same company who made Fire Emblem, so of course the series is excellent.

Geno supporters still exist, and I don't think they had any "Lesson" to learn; especially when both "Polls" for Brawl were done a bit before the Roster's were done. I don't even see anything bad about the idea of having Geno as a character. Square-Enix should be somewhere, but too bad they already didn't give a **** for PSABR. Honestly, you'd have more hope asking for Demi-Fiend for smash than a Square-Enix character.

It's Earthbound in America, not Mother.
Is there a law saying Americans can't call it it's Japanese name? I like that name better so I call it Mother all the time.

People now bash for just for even speaking out in the forums. All I said was Toad should be in Smash in place of Bowser Jr. and Paper Mario, and people just ganged up on me like I'm trying to cause something when I'm not. It's overblown. :glare:
We'll try to get people to lash out less, but don't start something and expect them not to.

It's not that I start something, it's that ANYTIME I say ANYTHING... people jump on me for nothing. Even if it's just a statement saying, "I want Toad". I accept certain apologies, but for more than often, people will criticize my just for the sake of criticizing.

I don't play Fire Emblem... but I do my research! We still good?
Oh yes friend, I've only played Awakening but I've done my research... we're still good. :p I don't so much have an issue with people discussing games they haven't played - we're only human after all, a lot of us have education and/or professions and can't afford to play games everyday - but talking smack about games you know nothing about is literally a plague upon the Smash community, and anybody who tries acting like they have an informed opinion of a game/franchise they have never played needs to seriously check their priorities.

Even though I feel you guys overestimate Paper Mario a bit too much when it comes to inclusion, it would be nice to have a Paper Mario stage on the Wii U and a Mario & Luigi stage on the 3DS. Especially since it'd open the window for music from both series.

Just talking Paper Mario, SPM and especially TTYD beat that, especially with the many underrated gems they have.

edit: also to keep this on-topic we need Paper Mario representation in SOME way. At least music and assist trophies.
Meh, call me a sucker for some jazzy soundtracks, but it actually works really well for the Paper Mario series, unlike other games I've played that tried a jazzy soundtrack only for it to crash and burn (AKA Marvel vs. Capcom 2)

I came up with the idea of Drybake Stadium for the 3DS version of Smash Bros, possibly a linelands or bitlands stage. Or, I had the idea of switching landscapes with Dimentio's reality warping abilities.

Why thank you, as I must say...my skills are refined, but my experience is greater. :p

...how does the original paper mario have the best story
I mean you could have said SPM and I would have felt less "what"
I'm taking it you didn't at least take the time to read the first four and Luigi's story
I should have been more specific, I guess. The story of the original Paper Mario was the most iconic. It felt the most Mario. It was the best way to go about Mario entering an interesting side-story like that. TTYD, while it had more going on in it, didn't feel as much like a Mario game. Ancient demon spirits, an army of evil astronauts, problems like people turning into pigs and fighters' power being drained by a con-man, all taking place near an edgy, dirty town... It all sounds much more like a regular JRPG. The original one at least had the benefit of being full of plot points that made me think "I'd only find this in a Mario game".

I prefer TTYD over the original in most aspects, by the way. I just think the first one better represents the series than TTYD.
Honestly, I think the original SMRPG is by far the greatest of the Mario RPGs. I haven't beaten all the other Paper Mario ones, but they seem pretty boring in comparison to SMRPG. Maybe it's because the gameplay is much weaker, like it's an RPG for elementary schoolers whereas SMRPG is for grown-ups in terms of RPGS. The music is weaker, the partners are weaker (Goombas in place of Bowser?), and the world seems weaker, especially in comparison to the gigaantic awesomeness of SMRPG. But that's just my opinion, so take it or leave it. You're free to disagree.

Anyways, if there was any Mario RPG universe I'd love to represent, it would be SMRPG. Although highly unlikely, I'd love for Nintendo and Square to work together to have Geno as a playable character, and bring all the awesome music and stages from SMRPG. :)
"The gameplay felt like it was an RPG for elementary schoolers. The game I like feels like an adult's game."

Because the damage numbers are larger...? I don't follow this at all. SMRPG isn't an adult's game, either. It was made for people of all ages, like all Mario games are. Either way, anyone who cares about feeling "mature" from playing a game isn't playing that game for the right reason at all. It's that mentality that plagues us with the 12-year-old CoD fanboys all the time.

Agree with the first part, but I think every Mario character in smash is unique enough to afford to stay.

I was more than ok without another Mario character in Brawl, and Toon Link replacing Young Link was "ok" just because at least it didn't become a 3rd Link.

But if I had to go with a new Mario character, it would obviously be Toad. He could have a moveset based around New Super Mario Bros where HE was half the playable cast.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that F-Zero deserves a second rep before the Mario series deserves another, I think this because of historical significance. far more weighty than sales significance, Black Shadow is the man, and Sakurai's reluctance to add too many characters would prioritize these series over more heavily represented ones, that is Sakurai will prioritize unrepresented series before heavily represented ones, regardless of their weighty Nintendo expanse. If other minor series which are hard to distinguish historical importance from are getting reps in my roster (such as Layton or Custom Robo or Starfy series), you can darn tootin' bet I'm gonna give Advanced Wars a rep, though I do not think any character in particular.
Considering also Sakurai's pain to cut characters from one game to the next, he would opt out of removing Ike, a 'popular' lord (that's what they tell me!) with an already unique moveset. If there is any next Fire Emblem rep most deserving, then it is Anna. Come at me. Wooh, maybe 4 reps for Intelligent Systems is a lot, but hey, y'know?
In light of this, I wish to know why exactly why you think I should have a 5th Pokemon. (And there already is, look, Awakening Mewtwo! Not to mention PKMN Trainer and his possible 3 Pokemans.)

If I would consider adding ANYONE from the Mario series (which I do not believe will get another rep this time around), it will be Paper Mario OR Toad before Bowser Jr. If anyone from Zelda series, then Toon Link or Tingle, but I will not add any more than the four.
I think your roster is interesting but if I need to rate it, would give it a 6.5/10, the reason: there are many characters, try to fit your roster in the line of 45 characters.
After making your roster smaller, consider adding Mii as a playable character and a fourth representative of the Zelda Series (Tingle, Toon Link, Impa, etc.).
Good luck.

I care. I shall never refer to them as "Earthbound" again.

What does the word 'care' even mean? Something methinks that nobody here understands sufficiently, myself included, the implications of such are astounding. Is one, by a simple act of response, caring? How can one not care about something? What degree of considering becomes caring?

Edit: Also, I ****ing hate that show.

Why is everyone angry at Divine, again. This time he wasn't even trying to start a fight, just stating his opinion. You guys are blowing this way out of proportions, tbh. Some will agree with me on this.

Mwahaha, beat you to the punch. But yeah, I agree. But dissing Paper Mario isn't a wise thing to do, though.

. . .

Please tell by *comicy*, you meant *comical*, and that Bowser's usual personalitywasn't shown through his lines.

Please tell me Bowser at least speaks in the game.....in some way...
I meant comical.
I meant he only has screen-time at the beginning and end of the game.
And I mean that Bowser is completely mute. Period.

Can you show me that you're tough enough to play it despite all that?

I hardly know how to respond to this.

This is a major shock, but I think I can handle it.

Of course, if Bowser is ever mute in another game where characters regularly speak, then I don't want to live on this planet anymore...

Thank you, sir, but keep in mind that I am not attempting to predict what will happen, but what would happen under ideal circumstances. This is, I predict, far from what will happen, but it is as close as my limited knowledge can carry me to what should happen. I think four is fine, Mario series also has four :p, and would anyone be mad if I said that the smaller series characters I included outweigh the need for certain representations in other series? And I would never consider Mii, you appall me, sir! Goodness gracious!

Mario is entirely mute, no little noises like in Super Paper Mario. Also, Bowser doesn't talk because he's under the control of the Royal Sticker.

I think most agree Paper Mario should have been in Melee.
Paper Mario's release was too late in the development of Melee to be considered for Smash Bros Melee. There's no excuse for Brawl though.

It happens in the first minute of the game. It's not really spoilers. (And from what I remember, it powered him up rather than possessed him.)

But yeah, Bowser is mute in a game full of talkers. Not exactly a boost for the game's writing.
