I don't see what's so "New" about Yoshi's New Island. Yoshi's Island DS was WAY newer than that. If you ask me, it's Nintendo trying to cash in on nostalgia again.

Or they're just making a sequel to a pair of games that were generally well received...like what a lot video game companies do. We've only seen one trailer. Keep an open mind there!

I don't know why people consider Kamek that much of a Yoshi character, especially since his appearances are better stapled in the Mario series than that of the Yoshi series. Heck, he's not even a boss in the Yoshi's island series when he has been in several Mario titles.

I think because most people will remember him from Yoshi's Island though

If Yoshi gets a rep, it's almost assuredly Kamek. However, Yoshi does a fine job of representing his series on his own.

Really? To me, his most memorable appearance was Paper Mario: Sticker Star. I thought it was absolutely hilarious how Kertsi called him a Broom-Riding hipster along with "Oh look at me, I ride around on a broom and played with stickers BEFORE it was cool!" and of course...THOSE GODDAMN FLIP-FLOPS.

it's because BY FAR the most influencial games when it comes to kamek are yoshi games. and it is true you don't directly fight him, but he does make a name for himself, powering up all the boss characters, and taunting you with memorable dialogue such as "OH MY" and stuff.


if it wasn't for yoshi's island, he wouldn't even really BE a character. and he wouldn't be as popular as he is now.

This is why Yoshi is so strange when compared to the other Mario branches in Smash. I feel it hasn't done enough to separate itself, unlike Donkey Kong. If Yoshi were to get a character, then that character would not only have to prominent in the games starring Yoshi, but also have to be prominent in the Super Mario games as well. While Kamek is certainly in quite a few titles, he's nowhere near prominent enough.

I'm hoping characters like Kamek and Bandana Dee will soon start to appear more often in their respective series, so they'll be more recognizable and become more prominent. I personally feel they could use more recognition, and I think they both have a of potential for Smash.

They're both just a little different from their species, and I think they could use a bit more to help them stick out. Can you imagine a character who primarily uses spells? (Zelda's specials and smashes aren't too interesting to me) Kamek would probably be very fun. And Bandana Dee would be a nice change of pace, using a spear instead of a sword or hammer, and being a friendly and unique version of a generic enemy.

Haven't played Sticker Star, but I have listened to some of the boss themes, and so far, they all sound epic. (Gooper Blooper FTW!)

I'd be surprised if he wasn't in yarn yoshi, and he's also confirmed for yoshi's new island.

Also, I love that track, had it featured in the kamek thread a while back. I especially like that I think there's a reference to the yoshi's island boss music at the beginning.

Haven't played Sticker Star, but I have listened to some of the boss themes, and so far, they all sound epic. (Gooper Blooper FTW!)

It's definitely innovative with the new sticker system, and all I can say is don't listen to what others say about it, it's a game you truly need to play to enjoy it. It does things differently, and it's soundtrack/charm/atmosphere is easily the best in the entire series.

It's because there is better attention to detail with the designs, most blunt with characters like Mario where you can see the stitches and wrinkles on the clothing. Generally a very subtle detail, but one that can be appreciated for those that like to pay attention to the small stuff.

Well, she did show up in The Thousand Year Door in chapter 6 after completing the game, but I get what you mean.

Im not really talking about popularity because for King Boo it is extremely low, luigis mansion is a niche series and being the villian of a niche series that only has two entries doesnt help. However this is the year of luigi, and if sakurai really wants to fully give luigi the honor of reppin his own series I could see King Boo being a character.

Besides a new star fox game we also need a true Paper Mario Sequel a true 3rd entry, not a spin off of a spin off :/

I predict that there's going to be at least one major upset for SSB4 similar to how there were several for Brawl. I honestly think that either K. Rool or Ridley (or even both) will get snubbed for some random reason. I'd like for both to get in but I'm not going to get overly optimistic about either of their inclusions.

I still think Shy Guy is the best choice for a Yoshi rep, even if he is just a species, but then again Yoshi & Waddle Dee are species too

Besides Kamek isn't a very unique choice like Shy Guy. Shy Guy implements all his various personas while Kamek is just another magic character, like we need another. She could always use Broom as her upward special and spawn enemies, but I think Shy Guy would be cooler.

Basically Yoshi became an actual character when he appeared in Super Mario Kart, just like Shy Guy became a character when he appeared in Mario Tennis.

It was fun, but what was incredibly dissapointing was the lack of innovation, every character is a Toad or enemy and all the worlds are from New Super Mario Bros.

Also did anybody else notice that the main selling point of the game was it's biggest flaw? You gather up Stickers to fight enemies, but why do you want to fight enemies, they don't give you anything but a couple of coins that are everywhere in the first place. So basically when you choose to fight an enemy all you're doing is trading 3 Stickers and a percentage of HP, for maybe 1 Sticker and a coin or too. So you just avoid all the enemies.

Yoshi is pretty much his own series in icon only. The game takes too much from the main Mario franchise to truly feel like a separate franchise, unlike WarioWare.
And since Yoshi and a majority of the series' characters are also prominent in the Mario games....yeah....it's really just including another Mario character disguised as a character from a "different" series unless it's someone like Poochy, but who really wants Poochy?
