A Chrom & Starfy tagteam character?

Oddly, not the weirdest pairing.

The optimist in me says Toad revealed for the release of Mario 3D World... but the realist in me says that's the time when they'll re-announce Peach as a veteran fighter. ): Although, truth be told, I personally think Peach would serve well as an unlockable that you've gotta "rescue" in a 1-player mode or Event Match, but I'm sure others would be fast to tell me why that's a bad idea.

Dumb question, when newcomer reveals do eventually happen, how do you imagine the trailers for the characters listed will play out:
1. Palutena
2. Little Mac
3. King K Rool
4. Ridley
5. Pacman

I can name one for Little Mac since I'm most familiar with him.

I bet it's going to start in a showdown between Mario and Donkey Kong in the boxing ring.
It'd be full of staredowns, and then they both rush to the center of the ring to exchange blows.
DK wins the showdown and celebrates while facing the audience. Mario's all dizzy by the ropes, when a familiar boot steps into the ring. Mario snaps out of it and looks in amazement.

DK continues to celebrate when a green glove is raised from offscreen. DK hears the boxing glove twitch and looks over his shoulder. Slams fists into his chest, and rushes to his new threat, only to be greeted by a green boxing glove to the face. (Slow-mo face-deformed DK here)

Little Mac slams gloves together and gets into his fighting pose.

Punches Out.
...Psyches up... Steps into the ring... punches back.... counterpunches....

Little Mac fights DK. Dodges Bowser and counterattacks. Comboes Mario. Excersize taunts together with Wii Fit Trainer. Shows off some specials against Link, Samus, and Pit.
A small scene where he's "training" Villager to box

Finally he shows off his Final Smash against several opponents.

At the end of the trailer:

I wasn't being serious, for the record... but if you're looking for a gameplay reason, it's a reference to her role as the typical absentee damsel-in-distress - having to unlock her through a fight with Bowser would be a cheeky nod to her role in 99% of Mario games.

Those were not really event matches to me, they seemed like tutorials since most of them you had to be told how a charecter works then complete something with what you just learned, it was like trials from fighting games.

Some were entertaining, but I felt they were rather lackluster in comparison to Melee as a whole.

There were a few co-op exclusive events but other than that they were all the same and some were more fustrateing with others since if one of you die it was usually failed...then again I was playing with my 6 year old cousin, so I could be wrong about the fustration.

Nope it isnt because I kinda want Blaziken too that muay thai stance is just too badass. just kinda sucks how hes hindered by the fact just him getting in without the other starters is kinda unlikely...

2. She's an evolution of the popular Eevee which is a big plus because Eevee and her evolutions are an incredibly popular element to Pokemon.
3. She's fairy and can take over some of Jigglypuff's moves as well as add on some of her own.
4. She appeared in an anime
5. She's distinct from other Eeveelutions
6. She was revealed only days after or before what is said to be the month of the roster's finalization.
7. A perfect replacement for the said to be outdated Jigglypuff. (don't hate on me cuz I am a huge Jigglypuff fan.)

She appeared in the anime? Kind of like every other Eeveelution? That's the only claim I'm on the fence about, since nearly every Pokemon has been in the anime, so that's not exactly a huge claim for Sylveon. But your are right about the other reasons.

How? What if Sakurai wants to add a newcomer, she can easily suffice. And I don't consider an evolution of Eevee to be random.

she's a pokemon newcomer. many people don't think there will be a pokemon newcomer this game. just brawl's + melee's mewtwo is the roster most people expect at this point.

I seriously doubt that. Meowth didn't replace Mewtwo or Pichu.

The problem with Sylveon is that Eeveelutions, much like starters, get treated as a group. Although they like to sometimes prioritize certain Eeveelutions over others (when they bring out new ones) for advertising purposes, in-game no single Eeveelution is more important than another. Think of it as being similar to the reason Pokemon Trainer has one Pokemon from each of the three starter chains - because from a game perspective, no one starter takes priority over the other two. It's all of them or none at all, and in Eevee's case it'd obviously be incredibly troublesome to implement all of them - making the 'none at all' route look very tantalizing.

Meowth didn't really have enough room to fit into Brawl, and Mewtwo should probably be in before Meowth too.
