First reason? Konami has done jack-squat with Bomberman since they bought Hudson, even going far enough to cancel Bomberman 3DS. Secondly, Third-Parties are "special exceptions" as stated by Sakurai. By this reasoning, it would be downright moronic to call any third-party likely. Third-parties are exceptions to the rule, so how many characters from third-parties are 'likely'? None of them. Thirdly, Bomberman does not have the Smash communities support, as it did for, say, Sonic or Megaman. Fourth, Bomberman does not have the sales to back it up, not even breaking 10 million sales across it's entire series - there have been single games that have sold more than Bomberman's entire franchise. Fifth reason is that third-parties will only be getting one rep if they get any at all, and given Sakurai's/Kojima's friendship there's no solid reasoning to suggest Snake's removal. Sixth is the fact that Bomberman is simply not as iconic as you like to think he is - certainly not on the same level of Sonic, Megaman or even Pac-Man (although we're not going to get into that one because it's neither here nor there). I could keep going if you like - just let me know.

Why do people take it for granted that Konami will get a rep? Snake barely has a chance as a veteran ... and if Snake doesn't make it it's not like Sakurai will go to the Konami Fortress and go "hey guys, sorry but I'm cutting Snake ... how about I let you choose another character instead so we can still be friends?"

Seriously, he's made it clear enough how he feels about third parties. It's even better to just assume it's Mega Man, Sonic and that's it.

Already gave you 6 reasons why he works and 2 feeble reasons why he doesn't that clearly have flaws. So basically Bomberman is likely, he wasn't unlikely until he was bought out (by a rather large company I might add) and speculators became piss scared to add him without even considering all his plus sides.

Konami didn't buy out Bomberman; they obtained the full rights to the IP AND all of Hudson Soft's other IPs when Hudson shut down.
Why? Because Hudson was a subsidiary of Konami.

Bomberman is not likely at all if you actually know how 3rd Party characters work.
Konami has shown no interest in incorporating Bomberman in Smash, so that's Strike 1.
Bomberman is not a highly requested 3rd Party in the same vein as Sonic or Mega Man, so that's Strike 2.
And finally, Sakurai has to see value in including the 3rd Party. We have a practically dead character who is explosive-based owned by a company that already features a character in Smash who happens to also be explosive-based within Smash. Strike 3, Bomberman's out.

Final Smash or limited form is the closest we'll get to Mega Evolutions, but not the entirety of the character.

Considering we have not even gotten:
- Peach
- Diddy Kong
- Zelda
- Sheik
- Zero Suit Samus
- Yoshi
- Meta Knight
- King Dedede
- Wario
- Ice Climbers

That leaves room for only five more newcomer confirmation assuming there is only a "one character a month" rule. That number goes down even further since we will likely get a starter Mother character (Ness or Lucas), and a FE veteran starter (Marth or Ike).

I would not be surprised if we ended up getting two character confirmations a month starting in the second half of 2014.

The reason I have ???'s on the list is because the announced games don't have release dates other than "2014", "Spring 2014", etc.

We might see Yoshi, Toad, and Shulk in 2014 because the following games are planned to come out in 2014:
- Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)
- X (Wii U)
- Yoshi's New Island (3DS)

No. Dude, he really has nothing going for him anymore. Like Yu said, 3rd party characters have to brought to Sakurai's attention, otherwise he won't bother, that's how Snake & (possibly) Sonic got in.

No, he doesn't.

Before the first trailer, Mega Man was pretty much the only 3rd Party Japan cared about, with a few others (that weren't Bomberman) that garnered some discussion.

Before Brawl, while Bomberman has more requests than many other 3rd Parties, he PALED in comparison to Sonic, Mega Man, and even SMRPG's Geno.

It was pretty much Sonic > Mega Man and Geno >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Everyone else.

There are movesets. Just because you don't deem them good doesn't mean they don't work.

Also, take a look at the Pac Man thread and you'll see the Pac Man we have now is the same Pac Man as back then. The Pac Man design always gave him feet and arms and eyes and all that, it's just the arcade simplified it to a pie eating dots.
