If there are any cuts, I do think that Toon Link would be the first to go. Sakarai said that as a rule Toon Link and Link would have the same moves and I honestly don't see the importance in a 2nd Link.

Impa's popular? That's new to hear.
Just because you don't see the importance doesn't mean nobody else does. And where did Sakurai confirm Toon Link would have the same moves in SSB4? Regardless of what you think Toon Link is more important and the best choice.

also I just assumed Impa's popular because everyone wants her. But, if she's not even that why do people predict her???

He should be in because he is one of the most important characters to the series (even though he is pretty new to our knowledge base) without him none of the other LoZ would have happened.
You just said the same thing and I just told you why that doesn't matter or influence a character. Being a main character is what makes you important, the timeline does NOT.

Pulled straight from Zelda Wiki:

I think that pretty much speaks for they basically are the same, meaning to see both Demise and Ganondorf at the same time is essentially an impossibility.
I doubt its impossible but demises hatred has been inherited. I could see it happen but It may not. Ganondorf wishes to rule the kingdom and Demise wishes to claim all, what makes ganondorf so special from the other beings who inherited demises power is that he himself has been reborn even after defeat similar to demise but they are still different. Now demise may have to reclaim his power from ganondorf if he was reborn not completely sure how it works since this is the first time we have seen and heard of the evil and power of demise.

Just because you don't see the importance doesn't mean nobody else does. And where did Sakurai confirm Toon Link would have the same moves in SSB4? Regardless of what you think Toon Link is more important and the best choice.

Well I consider Demise a main character, I guess we will have to see what nintendo wants to do though if they want him back again or not, im just saying he is super important.

Without Hylia, none of Skyward Sword would have happened, therefore none of the rest of the series would have happened.
Without Ghirahim to kidnap Zelda, same thing.
Without Fi to guide Link, same thing.
Without Groose to build a catapult, same thing.

See the issue with that logic? Zelda characters should be the more recurrent ones, not the most domino-effect ones.

As far as I'm concerned, Demise, Ganondorf and Malladus are all one and the same. For the sake of pleasing timeline-fags and Clonedorf haters alike, just create an amalgamation of the three of them under the title "Demon King", keeping the best parts of Clonedorf but changing some specials and a couple of physicals/grabs.

Wow. Reading through these past pages was torture. Anyway, I'd first like to accept the half-***** apology from DivineDeity. He was smart for stopping for a while. If you read this, I don't hate you, but I've warned you time and time again to respect people on here and not to blow a fuse. Clearly, you didn't listen.

Second, PerfectDarkMarc, was it? Welcome to the forums! But may I just ask if you could directly reply to other people? It'd be a lot easier.

Update on me, I'm having a great time in the Smokies! Its really clearing my head from all the negativity going on around here, since I'm simply too busy to care about any of you. But I mean that in a loving way. :)

So, what's on the agenda?

Thanks for the welcome :)

Not a main character of the franchise. He only appeared in one game where as Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf are the recurring main 3 that everyone knows.

Still think people would prefer Sylveon or some sort of evolved form. Also I still don't understand what's so funny. Sylveon used to be Eevee so are you implying she came out of nowhere and never was an Eevee?
No, but once a Pokemon evolves they are no longer that Poekmon the evolved from any more. Same with how when a Tadpole becomes a Frog they are a frog now and no longer a Tadpole, or how a catipiller metamorphs into a butterfly, they are a butterfly now and no longer a catipiller.

He didn't say it about SSB4, as we would already know Toon Link was in Smash 4. He did however, say that as a rule they would have the same moveset on the Brawl dojo on Toon Link's page. Could you at least explain to me the importance of a 2nd Link? btw, I have Toon Link on my roster prediction, just to let you know.

Impa is one of the more reoccuring Zelda characters, which is rare for Zelda characters, and is usually pretty important to the story, especially in SS. The only other one's who have this amount of importance is Tingle and Vaati.

Impa is one of the few characters in the series to have been there from the start, along with Link, Zelda, and Ganon.

I don't think Impa was ever mentioned in-game in The Legend of Zelda, and Zelda II: Adventure of Link, but she's mentioned in the game manuals, at least.

As for popularity, I'm not sure.

How does the announcement of Toon Link being a clone in Brawl affect Smash 4? Also having a 2nd Link is important because the Young version of Link is very recurring and preferred by many. It'd be upsetting to fans if they just had to pick whatever Link was given to them, not to mention the Toon games are very popular and again beloved to fans as well as Toon Link himself, it's enought to warrant him a spot and ther can be a lot of differences between Link and Young/Toon Link, especially because of age, agility, and the amount of items in the Zelda series. If having a 2nd Link wasn't important than the concept would not have returned in Brawl.

So what? The Great Fairy was there from the start and she was actually IN the game.

This is why I propose an all-encompassing Link, like we have in SSB4. With that effecting his chances, I believe Sakarai did say that we would have no clones in the game and since he made a rule for Toon Link and Link, it may effect his chances some, unless Sakarai changes his mind again. Toon Link also almost didn't appear in Brawl.

To be honest Sylveon is the first Evee evo I do not like. I would rather any of the Evee evos be selectable and used as PT does currently.
I think random Pokemon is a bad decision and using strictly Sylveon is in poor taste. If anything allow the user to choose which evolution we want not
force us to use the newest and latest addition. Just my 2 cents. <_<

Also - Toon link is, by and large, the most likely to get cut. Why you ask? He is the epitome of a clone. This coming from a Toon link/Young Link user.

All-encompaasing Link can't be Young, Adult, Toon, and realistic at the same time.

That's invalid, shouldn't we remove Ganondorf for being a clone? He's the main villian and Toon Link is important to representation almost just as much.

Young Link/Adult Link needs to be comprised into a single character if anything. If not, young link needs to be cut. Both are completely unnessessary. The same applies to toon link .He may be from a different "universe" but he still plays nearly the same and there is absolutely no need for TWO Links. No matter which way you cut it, TWO Links is unneeded.

That's actually not true in the slightest, that's clone-nazi talk. I already explained why a 2nd Link is necessary and Sakurai obviously thinks it's necessary too. And how the hell do you make Adult/Young Link one character? Teen Link?

Not to mention, Sakurai has been on record saying that having two versions of Link is important to him, as he feels that the younger version of Link is the "true Link." Seeing as we already have adult-Link in Smash 4...we'll probably get some form of Child Link again. Most likely Toon Link.

Ganon can be reworked to incorporate a new moveset. He also represents the villain of the franchise. Toon Link however, is nearly the same design as the "other" link, with nearly the same moveset, with minor tweaks here and there, and quite frankly doesn't deserve his own slot when it could go towards a completely new character or franchise to represent altogether. His inclusion is suffice to say, lazy. Do you deny this?

If he thinks the younger link is the "True Link" Why doesn't he just add the very first True Link and call it a day?

Especially considering this Link is now the most recurring Link with the most games for a single Link character. (LoZ, LoZ II, LTTP, LBTW, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, Link's Awakening)

I don't think the Link from LoZ/LoZ II is the same Link incarnation from aLttP/Oracles/LA.

If I recall, LoZ and LoZ II take place in a future era in the timeline from Link's Awakening.

The link in LoZ and LoZ II is not the same as the one in LTTP, LBTW, OoS, OoA, LA.

Edit: Ninja'd.

Crap, you're right, got that wrong. The Link from LTTP is the same Link from the Oracle games and Link's Awakening, but the Legend of Zelda 1 and 2 takes place after Awakening and 2 is the last in that timeline. Regardless, he's still the most recurring Link as of now. *Shrug*

So what? There are various incarnations of many characters in Smash. Why should Link be any different? Why should he get a free pass and not others?
Because there's different parts of the Zelda timeline, and representing them is important. The Link as of now is all-encompassing, and due to his design is rather new, it's unsure what part of the timeline he is a part of. However, Toon Link is cofirmed to be part of the adult timeline. Classic/LTTP Link would be a representative of the only path in the timeline that hasn't been represented yet, which is the defeat of the great hero.

They are not as important or great in number. Link's incarnations are more preffered by fans. Nobody really cares about those incarnations where as many people care about Toon Link. It's not a free pass. Posts above you and below you will tell you why the incarnations of Link are important as appose to other characters. Besides Sakurai says it's important in SSB so if he thinks it's important then he's going to do it, and most people agree with him.

I get what your saying but irregardless, if there are going to be "cuts" it has to be somewhere and the simple fact of the matter is having TWO Links is still a slap to the face of fans waiting for their franchise to be represented!

The majority of fans prefer it. So it's not a slap in the face. It's a favor. He's more than just a second Link contrary to your belief. If he got into Brawl over Mewtwo and Roy then It must be important. And Sakurai doesn't cut ahead of time. He leaves them out if he runs out of time.

People like to exaggerate the horrors of having a 2nd version of a character or one with similar moves. Pleasing that minority of complaints should not be Sakurai's priority. Representing the necessary characters is and Toon Link is necessary. Having Toon Link does not equal the demise of all newcomer chances.

Cutting Toon Link would only happen in a situation where you'd have to cut like 5 characters. You can easily make a roster with all the most necessary representations of newcomers and still have Toon Link.

Considering the most important characters in the franchise are Link, Zelda and Ganondorf, adding another Link from another part of the timeline is a great idea. The second Link acts and fights differently in their own games than that of the Normal Link used in Smash Bros, other than that of Young Link from Melee, who actually was the same Link only younger. Classic and Toon Link are both Links from opposite sides of the timeline, featuring different looks than Normal Link, different personalities than Normal Link, different equipment than Normal Link, and so on and so forth. If anything, another Link is always welcome, but they should actually design them to be different, although I think they're made similar for a reason.

Ugh.. so we have to have different Links to represent different facets of the Zelda franchise...

Adult Link = represents all adult Links (aka the child timeline)
Young Link = represents all child Links (aka the decline timeline)
Toon Link = represents all toon Links (aka the adult timeline)

Why don't we also add Young Zelda and Toon Zelda?

Why stop with Zelda franchise? Why not Mario franchises too?

Mario = represents the main games
Dr. Mario = represents Dr. Mario series
Paper Mario = represents Paper Mario series
Mario & Luigi team = represents Mario & Luigi series
Mario in his sports outfits = represents the sports spin-off games
Jumpman = represents Mario vs. Donkey Kong series and arcade games

If people complain about Doc, they should also complain about Toon/Young Link.

They're the exact same things, different incarnations of an already existing character who'm they share many moveset traits with.

I actually have something like that in dream roster. :awesome:

(TP and adult OOT) Link
Skyward Link
Downfall (aLttP/Oracles/LA) Link
Classic (LoZ/LoZII) Link
Toon (WW/PH) Link
Young OOT Link
Four Swords Link

Zelda/Shiek
Tetra/Toon Zelda

Ganondorf (OOT Captain Ganon semi-clonedorf)
Twilight Ganondorf
Toon Ganondorf
Classic Pig Ganon

Mario
Paper Mario
Metal Mario (based off the Smash 64 version)
Dr. Mario
Chef Mario (a parody character since I put Dr. Mario in when he could just be a costume; once a Smash character, always a Smash character, in my opinion)
8-Bit Mario (another joke character)

As true as that is, it's still seems looks are ignored in the roster. They do fight similar, but their looks aren't quite the same.
