the man of bones thanks you. I will take all of your helpful advices(accept for that guy who said I should cut waddle dee, he's dead) I'm cutting waluigi, nook, and pac man, and added takamaru and snake in their places. I'm open to any suggestions for the last character.

A new roster: 50 characters (55 with transformations: Dark Pit, ZSS, Sheik, Sable Frog Form and Sable Snake Form)

One thing to note: Cut characters are DLC, that's pretty much how I based this.
I managed to take care of representation pretty nicely, some changes and few notes shown:
- Toon Link is removed to represent Zelda with the correct number of reps.
- Pokemon Trainer was also removed for the same reason above, I putted Zoroark in his place.
- Ike is removed for Anna. (Ike is still DLC don't forget that)
- Pit has a Dark Pit Transformation (Only can turn to him after final smash)
And I might have realized giving Sable his 2 seperate forms gives overrepresentation to his franchise.(I can't change who he really is)
- I don't like how you're counting the number of playable characters. You're making unnecessary cuts with characters. If you're sticking to 4 characters per franchise, you should just leave them the way they were in Brawl and then consider adding Mewtwo over Lucario. Because it was just fine like that.
- Zoroark replacing the Pokemon Trainer? That's a bit unheard of.
- Anna would be DLC before a character was playable in the previous Smash game. Regardless of her being in each of the FE games or not.
- Pit and Dark Pit are two different entities. They are not the same being. That being said, it makes no sense at all for Pit to transform into Pittoo.
- Why are you giving Sable 3 forms, let alone more than one? His other forms don't have a lot to work with alone. If he was a playable character, I'd imagine him transform during attacks but retaining his original form after performing those attacks.

Also I don't know how my roster went off the radar but I'll repost it.
So yeah I'm going to post my roster too.

Felt like playing with the Waluigi as a Wario character concept. Both of them are able to switch to their Overalls like Wario could in Brawl.
54 Total Characters including transformations, etc.

I almost added Mach Rider / Mii, but figured having random was a better idea.
Also before anyone mentions anything, artwork choice has no meaning for any character (Except Waluigi).
So having this specific artwork for Zelda and Ganondorf hold no meaning to anything.

Please, share your feedback!
I feel like Waluigi should be with Wario regardless of what moves his uses, because at the end of the day all of those characters in the first two columns are Mario characters. So it really shouldn't matter in the end.

I'd put Starfy over Dillon.

How so? Not critically... not commercially (compared to GS) ... not internationally... not popularity-wise...
Well when you take it into account of moveset potential.
Shulk > Isaac > Starfy.
But really all 3 should be in for their importance and impact on Nintendo.

When you take into account moveset potential...

Shulk = Isaac = Starfy

They all have potential. They would all be different from anything currently on the roster.
Ideally we would be able to get them all. Realistically... not so much.

Even I'd call bull**** on that one, with or without bias in play.
Compared to other unrepresented series, they are towards the top in importance and impact. Though Punch-Out is above all of them. And the more casual series.

According to that Melee roster breakdown over on Starmen.net, Sakurai chose (at least) Melee's roster by dividing his character choices between popular ones and unique ones, before the clones. However, his unique ones were either popular enough (Zelda and Sheik, counted separately) or retro/shock (ICs/G&W). Now, it seems as though, for speculation purposes, we can reserve one, two, three or four slots for retro/shock characters, and then fill the rest with popular choices, since Sakurai reliably adds most really popular characters, with Ridley being the exception in Brawl (because of 'best efforts needed').

I'd guess that Sakurai would categorize the Villager as a popular character, as he probably was on the Brawl poll, and AC has only gained popularity since then, so I'd say the "unique" characters (though the popular ones can also be unique) so far that we know about are just WFT and whatever token retro we get (probably Takamaru). After that, I agree it's likely we'll only see... maybe one or two more "unique" choices afterwards (though it obviously depends on amount of newcomers).

I think it's the other way around. :p

Your the one who wants me dead and even went as far as to say I am dead. Yet here I am still alive. Besides this pic describes me pretty well.

You can't touch a god. :p
The funny part is I was trying to say you were dead to me

I'd put Starfy over Dillon.
I figured putting a character from a downloadable title would be a good idea. Considering that it is a new "Platform" in which Nintendo is creating software for. They didn't really start making downloadable titles until after Brawl came out, so I figured it would be nice to represent the not as large Nintendo franchises that have come up from the era of Nintendo's history. Starfy holds nothing really special to the table, other than how interesting it was for him to get three games in Japan fairly quickly with only another one of them released internationally.

Are you suggesting Starfy has the most moveset potential?

Truthfully the only character who has had an impact on Nintendo is Shulk, really. I mean the localization of Xenoblade was huge because of how much people wanted it and the other Project Rainfall games to come to America. Nintendo's announcement meant that they listened to the consumer, something that can be a rare occasion from other Big Name companies.

I think people are making an arbitrary category of the eShop. Sakurai has never cared about representing a specific platform before with his character choices, he's only done time periods at the most. If the main reasoning people are using for Dillon's defense is the system he's on... I don't think that's enough to actually put him in competition with characters who would have a chance no matter which platform their games arrived on, because of the games and/or characters themselves.

I don't think it's completely unheard of for Zoroark to replace Pokemon Trainer. Pokemon Trainer is a difficult to develop and has been on our cut lists before. Zoroark would be a 5th generation rep, representing the previous era of Pokemon in between the Smash's.

Waluigi doesn't make sense as a Wario rep considering he's never made a major appearance in the franchise. How you organize it doesn't matter. Waluigi can be listed under Wario but still be a Mario rep. I think it's important for him to be represented as he appears. Otherwise, a nice roster. Dillon is the longest shot on there.

they didn't do this for gen 3 so why should they do it for gen 5

If there was any time Pokemon Trainer would be difficult to develop, it would be Brawl or pre-Brawl. Now that he's actually been implemented he'd be much easier to develop, his playstyle and mechanics are already created and everything, all that needs to be done is some tweaking and minor changes. Unlikely he gets cut or replaced at this point.

It does not, because Geno was a niche choice given the illusion of widespread popularity by a vocal minority pre-Brawl.

I agree...Villager would have been an intensely popular choice had it not been for Sakurai's comment, with his only possible downside being competition from Tom Nook and the like. For the sake of semantics, there's a difference between characters Sakurai adds because nobody could have predicted them (WFT) and characters that may or may not have been predicted, but whose selling point was uniqueness (Pokemon Trainer, ZSS). For our speculative purposes, however, we're unlikely to outright guess either, so it's easiest to set aside a few placeholder spots for such characters, before going after the rest based on more traditional criteria.

Smash represented Nintendo era cycles rather than individual series cycles. So Lucario counts for GBA and early DS era of Pokemon. It's not about individual generations, it's about the Pokemon of that Nintendo era.

Hey guys check out my latest very realistic 46 man roster!

Cuts:
- Ness
"During the development of Melee, Ness was intended to be removed and replaced by Lucas; the eventual cancellation of EarthBound 64, however, caused Ness to stay in the game." - http://www.ssbwiki.com/Ness#In_Super_Smash_Bros._Melee

"Revivals":
- Roy
Sakurai just needs to declone hime from Marth and give him even more fire abilities.
- Mewtwo
Mewtwo needs a much anticipated return to the grand stage. Mewtwo's new form allows him to represent the sixth gen.

Newcomers:
- Megaman
- King K Rool
He is very popular with the fans and deserves to be in smash. (How about a new game? #revivethekremlings)
- Waluigi
Waluigi is very unique and has a great move set potential, he also represents the mario sports/party games.
- Ghirahim
Ghirahim is a user of magic and dual wields swords, which is very unique.
- Ridley
Very popular and is so much different than anything we have on the roster now. Metroid deserves another rep, especially a villain.
- Little Mac
Just got a reboot a couple of years ago with the new Punch Out game which became a Nintendo Select. We don't have any boxers on the roster and he would make fore a great addition.
- Mach Rider
A bad*** biker that can whip around a chain? 'nuff said.
- Animal Crossing Villager
- Wii Fit Trainer
- Bowser Jr.
An awesome character and he represents the SM Sunshine series that wields a giant paintbrush. He could also turn into Shadow Mario.

DLC:

Big Three Pack
Toad (With Blue and Yellow options) - Mario
Vaati - Zelda
Zoroark - Pokemon

Girl Power
Palutena - Kid Icarus
Krystal - Star Fox
Lyn - Fire Emblem

Shadow Pack
Black Shadow - F-Zero
Ryu - Ninja Gaiden
(Zoroark Can be switched to either Pack 1 and 3)

Note: If Krystal isn't included (DLC or Not) Fox could use her staff, (which he did in Star Fox adventures) Falco could keep him moves (final smash = arwing) and Wolf would get even more decloned.

I don't understand how Lucario represents gameboy advance
the problem now is how do you determine what a cycle

I like it, I just don't think Waluigi should be in yet and that Ghirihem shouldn't be in SSB4 or you could trade Ghirihim's place with Vaati's. And Ness should be in there.

Cutting Ness when EarthBound is coming worldwide on the Wii U Virtual Console is super stupid.
