No offense, but being not a fan of Dry Bowser isn't a reason. There are a lot of Nintendo characters some people don't like.

What about Dry Bowser's popularity? What's wrong with him being a Zero Suit Samus? He can have his own moves if you want. It's not going to hurt you. No offense, but just because you don't care weather he's in it or not doesn't make him unlikely.

With all the characters that have transformations, Dry Bowser is a very popular transformation. He does it NSMB, NSMB2, Super Mario 3D Land, and he was even playable in Mario Kart Wii & Mario Tennis Open.

Dry Bowser is almost guaranteed to be a transformation.

Yes, in a sense, Sakurai is trying to rep all gens in the games, whether it be bosses, moves, characters, Pokeballs, or stages. But for the most part, the character slots will mainly consist of Generation 1 Pokemon since those are the most popular. And I'm guessing Generation 5 will be repped in some way, whether it be a stage or a boss. Imagine the skyscrapers of Castelia City as a stage.

Castelia City would be the return of Saffron City.

and I would love that.

Also I'd rather add Goroh than Black Shadow for F-Zero. Don't really get why people would want Black Shadow if all he's going to do is take Ganondorf's moves and be a Falcon clone. imo it's less work to just declone Ganondorf and let the old moveset rot in a compost bin.

But Samus and ZZS have notable difference such as weight, speed, form, and etc. Dry Bowser is exactly the same in all those categories. Now, how would be significantly be different as a character. He wouldn't be different in any major way, he would most likely still play the same way even with different specials, and other attacks.

I dont really see a gen 5 pokemon being in just for it being gen 5, Pokeball's? Yes boss? Maybe, stage? maybe, but playble charecter just because? I dont think so, If pokemon does get 5 reps I bet its going to be Lucario because of the bare fact gamefreak has yet to drop him for a newer more modern pokemon they actually brought him back to be more prominent than gen 5's mascot so Gamefreak may feel some sort of attachment to Lucario and return wont drop him so easily. Not to mention he's problaby the only pokemon outside of gen 1 the kind off exposure and recognition he does. On the current topic where exactly did dry bowser originate from? I dont think I have even seen him in a game before but I do agree he would best as a alt costume.

1. Dry Bowser is an undead form of Bowser, with the exact same body design. He's much better off as a palette swap of Bowser.
2. There are plenty of better Mario representatives out there(Bowser Jr., Waluigi, Toad, Paper Mario etc.)
3. Dry Bowser is just screams "clone".
4. Time spent making him unique is better spent making a completely different character or luigifying old clones.

The question is...who the hell would bother giving reasons against Dry Bowser when the reasons are pretty obvious.

#1: Dry Bowser is an obscure character who is so far behind in Mario series reps
#2: A simple skin change does not make him a different character, it's like giving King Dedede a seperate character for Masked Dedede because he looks slightly different while being the same person.
#3: We have Normal Bowser, the form of Bowser that actually matters.
#4: Dry Bowser is just a blatantly stupid idea.

Lucario is old news. Gen 5 has three really big and popular pokemon to choose from for fighters, and they'd all represent a new fighting style we haven't seen before. And frankly...who wouldn't want to play as a Zoroark, a Genesect, or a Victini? Zoroark's my favorite of the three, but I'd personally like to play as Genesect more.

Toad has lost his luster, if they were going to add him, they would have done it already. We don't need more characters from the Toon series, since that trio of games seems to already be over. I'm unsure on Isaac, I personally think Shulk may have a better chance, NO ROY...as part of the main game, and we're already unsure on the fate of Pac-Man. And my God, the Wii Fit Trainer looks depressed. She must've seen the fan artwork of her.

Even if Bowser and Dry Bowser were the exact same, the fact that Bowser has to "transform" into Dry Bowser and vice versa means that development time would still have to be done to make a separate model with identical data (no "copy and paste" is possible) to switch "living" Bowser and "undead" Bowser and have the switch be implemented.

So really, the best option in this case would for Dry Bowser to be a special alternate costume for Bowser like how Wario has both his overalls and biker outfit.

So back to square one in terms of making a separate character that takes away time and effort. Brilliant plan.
Even more brilliant to force in a transformation gimmick directly ripped from another character in the Smash series for a form that causes minimal changes to Bowser's skillset and stretch to try and make it different "just because".
