Believe it or not. Samurai Goroh is one of the more likely characters. His reasons to be in are greater in number and more powerful
Starting with the reasons why F-Zero will most likely get another character.
- F-Zero is one of the most highly regarded Nintendo franchises and deserves it just as much and even more than some franchises that got more characters.
- One of the original 10 franchise in the first Smash game
- It hasn't gotten a chance to be further represented for 3 installments due to so many more essential characters from other franchises. This is now the 4th installment. Also all those shoe-in newcomers are out of the way (EX: Wario, Diddy, King Dedede, Pokemon Trainer, 2nd Metroid)
- With all the franchises having their partner or rival and even EarthBound getting a second character and Star Fox getting a third, F-Zero is underrepped and not having it's second major character like Donkey Kong, Kirby, and Star Fox did is absurd.
- New Smash installments tend to add new characters to franchises that have not gotten any since their first debut. The only two ones left with any viable characters are Kid Icarus and F-Zero. Both of which have a very deserving character I might add.
- F-Zero has a wide variety of unique characters
Here's the only 2 reasons I can possibly think of as to why people personally think it shouldn't
- F-Zero has not had a game in 11 years
Now I'm gonna stop right there because this one strikes me as ridiculous. This serves no real validation as far as I know. F-Zero has still had much retrospective support including Virtual Console releases and Nintendo Land mini game. If I recall correclty the 3DS Ambassador program featured F-Zero. Not Golden Sun or any of that.
Now putting aside these recent tributes to F-Zero. Why does not having a newly made title recently matter when you're F-ZERO!? Again, this is one of the most remembered and highly regarded Nintendo franchises and is also highly regarded in Super Smash Brothers. The game which I propose will represent it with another character. Apparently we think that because there hasn't been a new title that Sakurai is going to throw F-Zero representation away in a garbage can like it never meant **** to him or any of us. The main objective of Smash is a crossover fighting game between Nintendo's biggest franchises in history. Not Nintendo's most recently supported franchise in the past 3-4 years. No where is F-Zero better paid tribute than Smash. We might as well stop speculating Assist Trophies, Stages, and Music for the game. Because Sakurai has decided he doesn't care about F-Zero as much as he used to. I mean hell I remember when I stopped caring about Banjo-Kazooie because Microsoft killed them 10 years ago...oh, wait no I didn't.
Here's an argument I think rather destroys the "F-Zero is too old" argument. Kid Icarus was a game from 1986 and had no more than a gameboy sequel. Sakurai took this old and unimportant franchise and made a WHOLE GAME OUT OF IT. He even postponed the beginning of Smash 4 development until he was done.
A game not getting a new installment doesn't mean the company has fogotten about it (in fact we were told they just couldn't think of anything innovative.) because they still pay tribute to it and re release it's games. So to think that Masahiro Sakurai, someone who's job is to represent the best of Nintendo history properly in a crossover game regardless of how old it is, would just brush aside only a second character to a franchise that hasn't gotten one since the first installment after TONS of a characters (arguably enough) were added to others because it hasn't had an official newly release retail game in a while.....that's just crazy.
Sakurai has not forgotten about F-Zero and neither has Nintendo. If Masahiro Sakurai actually gives a single **** that F-Zero hasn't had a game in a while then I'll give you each 1,00,000,000$ and leave this site forever.
