I don't get why people become so upset when someone like me suggests a character as an alt skin/costume for another character.

I mean, I don't see being an alt. as an insult for the character itself, but more as an option for satisfy fans most possible, instead of wasting roster' slots.

To be honest, there isn't really much of a difference between "wasting roster slots" and making said character an alt. Especially if said character will be having different properties as well as some slight different move tweaks because the hitboxes don't match etc. It's essentially making a clone, but hiding them into another characters shadow in order to give the illusion that there are no clones in the game when in fact they actually are.

It's why I'm not really for characters like Toon Link becoming an alt because imo there isn't really much of a point besides giving the Clone haters the illusion that said clone character isn't there. The developers still spend time on them regardless. But that's just my opinion really. :/

This. It's literally Tharja with Micaiah's face. Micaiah goes from cute to disturbingly sexual.

Most of the DLC designs aren't great. I like Lyn's because it reminds me a lot of Radiant Historia. Like some characters, such as Celica or Micaiah, are just ruined and look over-sexualized. Then there's Ike, who looks incredibly scrawny. I don't even remember him being that scrawny!

I think it's mostly because we could get some truly weird results with the announcer(not even mentioning the animations, and hitbox issues with certain individuals);

"THIS GAME'S WINNER: PIKACHU!"
Whilst playing as Pichu. Or Raichu.

"THIS GAME'S WINNER: MARTH!"
Whilst playing as Roy.

"THIS GAME'S WINNER: IKE!"
Whilst playing as Chrom.

"THIS GAME'S WINNER: YOSHI!"
Whilst playing as Birdo.

"THIS GAME'S WINNER: CHARIZARD!"
Whilst playing as Ridley.

"THIS GAME'S WINNER: SQUIRTLE!"
Whilst playing as Koopa Troopa. Or worse; Bowser Jr.

Etc.

Also it can be seen as an insult as in the character you want? Not good enough for playable. Your character? Only on par with Daisy; basically a colour swap for a better character.

I think that's the main reason people get uppity.

On a side note, in French, Wii Fit Trainer is called "Entraîneuse Wii Fit".
"Trainer" takes gender on consideration in French.
And for the Wii Fit Trainer, I don't see him still be called "Entraîneuse Wii Fit" instead of "Entraîneur Wii Fit".

Where I want to arrive is I don't really see a problem fo changing names with alt. costumes/skins.

But they are both the Wii Fit Trainer. They are both Wii Fit Trainers. It's the same as getting the Villager a female skin, the Pokemon Trainer a female skin, or Wario the overall outfit. You aren't changing the character. It's still the Wii Fit Trainer, still the Villager, still a Pokemon Trainer, and still Wario.

Lucina as a Marth or Chrom alt is actually changing the character into a completely new one. That doesn't make sense.

For Snake I would suggest Naked Snake should Gronzyj Grad appear as a stage in the Nintendo 3DS version as Sakurai did state the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS will focus on handheld games.

Okay, so I decided to just update my roster. I barely changed anything, so I realized I have nothing new to add. My opinions will stay the same until the next character announcements. I have barely any new changes, so I made my absolute final roster which I will just update whenever characters are revealed. No more changes unless absolutely necessary:

Cuts are plausible and likely. But I decided on no cuts for two reasons:

• It's difficult to decide who. Everyone on Brawl's roster made perfect sense, deserved to be on there, and were all very good fighters who really deserve their place. It'd be difficult to decide who would have more priority over who. Which leads me to my next point...
• They all deserve to be on the roster. As what I said, they are all very unique. They can all get on the roster because they really really deserve it. There's nothing more to say. Brawl's roster was perfect, it really only needed Mewtwo to be perfect.

This is probably been one of the better rosters I’ve seen. The only real complaint I can make is that there’s no new retro or WTF characters. I would replace Mii with Takamaru, but besides that minor gripe, I love this roster.

I've figured out what special thing the rumor is talking about in regards to Dr. Mario.

Mario's gonna be able to transform into Dr. Mario like in volume 8 of Super Mario-Kun by secret command.

- Lacks of Ridley, Isaac, Krystal, K. Rool and Takamaru.
- Robin as her own.
- Snake instead of Pac-Man
- Mii.

I didn't realise Roy was so popular amongst the Fire Emblem fans, honestly.
I knew Smash fans were big on him since he did help introduce us to the series in the first place.
If this is the case, IS really need to get on with that rumoured remake of Binding Blade, release it internationally...and maybe fix some of the problems with Roy whilst they're at it(That late promotion is the most glaring issue).

Sakurai thinks Starfy is too similar to Kirby. So I'm sure he won't think Chrom and Lucina are too similar to Marth.

You know, it's really easy to set you off. First of all, No characters deserve a spot more than another. They're not people who did heroic deeds or charity work. They're characters. Whether of not they rightfully deserve a slot in Smash 4 is entirely our opinions.

My opinion is that Dr. Mario is Mario. At least for Toon Link you could say they're different incarnation, making them different characters technically. Dr. Mario is literally a Doctor Mario. I could see him getting in if he was considered a Retro. But he isn't. Not anymore.
