I would be bummed if I don't see anymore fresh surprises in the roster, but I'm not going to complain if the generic no cuts roster happens, but you honestly can't deny the slight possibility.

In a perfect world, I'd get my Ghirahim, and you'd get your Bandana Dee. I would whole-heartedly support him if I thought the roster would be larger.

After reading Sakurai's statement regarding characters Nintendo doesn't actually own (using James Bond, Popeye, and even Nakayama Miho, a real person) being too much of a hassle with licensing costs, to expect Kawashima (even after I explained why he isn't fit to fight) is pure lunacy at this point. Let it go; he's not happening.Classic Ganon doesn't feel as inevitable to happen as Kawashima.

It's what drives my whole soul really, I don't really discuss him as much as I used to. I won't be disappointed if he doesn't happen as a character though, I already know how to move on.
Although it's gonna a bit sad to lose such a bet I've been dedicated for months on.

I feel like there is some bias here.
You bunched Metroid character and villain to make it seem like he has more cons.
And he doesn't have a lot of haters, it just seems that way because his haters are very vocal.
So he's 50/50 really.

I'd remove the "Has lots of haters" point.
I don't think hatebase is really that big of an issue. Both Tingle AND Waluigi got more than just a sticker and trophy in Brawl. And Tingle's hatebase was at its peak at that time.

Not a lot of haters in general, there are a lot of people who would love to see him but say he might just be too big.
And having a lot of haters isn't really a bad thing when considering adding a character. It's what happens after the character reveal that matters. I guarantee that there were people furious about WFT, but they got over it and now they like her.
Also, hazard and boss are very similar in concept: they are both roles in Smash Bros that mean that Ridley would not be playable.
Metroid character and boss are two completely different pros, and you should list them as such.

Also, Sakurai is looking for uniqueness. Ridley would be so unique, with air grabbing and the latter. No one else would be able to do that.

Anything popular has haters. Ridley doesn't even have that many haters though, around these parts it's usually the same 3 people who come back to troll the Ridley thread. On GameFAQs it's always just Dedekong and Vaztor.
The "Can be a hazard or a boss" point, aka could fulfill another role, could also apply to nearly every character in the game, as many of them could be Assist Trophies. Being able to fulfill another role isn't going to drag anyone down, if Ridley's a boss or a hazard again then that has nothing to do with his potential to be that, if he didn't have the potential to be that then he simply wouldn't be in the game at all. A character won't be left out just because they can be something else.
Only popular in the west and the difficulty of making him would be the fair negatives, the latter mentioned obviously being the biggest drag-down as that's one of the first things that came to Sakurai's mind when asked about him.

NeoGAF goes somewhere inbetween FAQs and Miiverse. They seem to think Ridley is obviously too big and that Chrom is inevitable. Other than that they're generally fine. And IGN is only near the top because most of IGN's Smash speculators. are here on Smashboards as well.

Miiverse isn't that bad when you think about since most of them are very young, so they don't know if a character they extremely like is first party, third party and etc.
I would put Youtube at the bottom as most of them are older, but still have silly requests.
