I have an idea!
Let's do something fun!
Lets all make a roster on who we would WANT in a smash game, and not who we would PREDICT!
6 characters for the 3 major series, 4 for DK, Kirby, StarFox, Mother, and FE, and at least 2 for F-Zero and Metroid.
And at least 5 new series characters (Villager and WFT count).
NOW GO!!!

Mine is sort of a cross between want and expect. I want Ghirahim, Anna, and Lucario, but expect Chrom, Little Mac, and Mewtwo.

Personally, he would be my first newcomer choice as a Mario newcomer, just because I like him.
I swear, if I ever get a job at Nintendo, I will do everything in my power to make Fawful a mainline Mario character, right next to Rosalina.

I'd like to give Wonder Red and Wonderful 101 a bit more time as a franchise to develop before they appear in a big crossover like this. It came out during Smash's development, give it a good number of years to see where the franchise goes. There may not even be another Wonderful 101 game or sequel, we don't know. As for Shulk, I wholeheartedly agree, having such a unique character as an assist trophy is just a bad idea. I mean, why give up the opportunity to use a level-up system character design for an assist trophy that just runs around and slashes people?

You know I said the same thing about Xenoblade too.

The only reason I think Wonder Red may be more likely than we thought is because of Sakurai visiting Platinum at some point, and the fact that he's extremely unique. It just seems...fishy to me that he would visit Platinum (because I think we can all agree it wasn't for Bayonetta).

Shulk wouldn't make much sense as an Assist. What would he do? Run around and slash at people? That's a waste of an Assist Trophy. He can be much more fleshed out in a playable role.

No I think if the opponents get close to Shulk, he will use foresight to counterattack the opponent. That could be his role as an AT.

I love Fawful, but for Smash Bros I don't see it happening any time soon.
A Resetti-type assist trophy would be neat though.

If I remember correctly Ness has been in Super Smash Bros since the original.
If one of them gets cut it will no question be Lucas.

that really dosnt matter, if Mother 3 wasnt delayed Ness would not have been in Melee, the only reason brawl had both is because the wii could store both of them and still have enough room

I've yet to play Mario & Luigi games, but with his food metaphors and crazy Engrish, Fawful seems like he's my kinda guy.

As for Smash Bros...probably even less likely than Ghirahim...

Nintendo wholly owns Monolith Soft. They don't share the property.

They're more comparable to Intelligent Systems or Hal.

I think you could add Pac-Man and Mii there, 48 seems like a better number to me.

I don't know. Miis are pretty likely, but I'm not too sure about them completely anymore. If I had to, I'd take out Shulk or Palutena for them.
As for K. Rool, I'm split on either him or Dixie, just know that I support a DK newcomer. (it's gonna be one of the two)

And there are 50 characters on here. The 46 Slots, Sheik, Zamus, and the Trainer counts as 3. I didn't want to go over 50 characters.

Fire Emblem and Mother are like cousins. From what I've read about Lucas, it just seems like:

Ness = Marth
Lucas = Roy, Ephiraim, Chrom
Porky = Black Knight
Claus = Micaiah

If anything Lucas is the Ike of the series, just as important as Marth, maybe just a little less known, but still just as popular, and awesome.

I don't think Waluigi is going to be in the game, despite his lovable personality, he doesn't bring anything real new other than sports equipment, (Which the Miis could easily have)

He's not disconfirmed until we see him as an assist trophy, a stage hazard, or Sakurai just comes out and says that Waluigi will not be playable.

If importance mattered in Smash 4, Toad or Bowser Jr, would have gotten in before Rosalina & Luma.

It's uniqueness that matters.
Even if Rosalina got in die to importance, Luma wouldn't have, because Rosalina was never seen fighting with a Luma, this it not being important to Rosalina's character.

Daisy has almost NO move set potential as far as I know, and would have to be at least a semi-Peach clone.

Where as Waluigi has ALOT of uniqueness and potential.

I know what you are trying to say,but by that logic characters like Young Link are still possible.
