I'm honestly beginning to wonder if FE is going to get anybody. I certainly wouldn't care at this point. But I don't see Roy getting in. Mewtwo I think will be the only Melee returnee. But that's just me.

Now the slightest possibility of it frightens me even more, at least it's extremely unlikely.

Do you mean if Impa replaces Sheik's role as Zelda's transformation, or if Impa is separated from Zelda but still uses Sheik's old move-set (while Sheik is discarded)?

Either.
The condition is that Sheik is gone and Impa is in while inheriting her moves.
Whether Impa literally takes Sheik's place as a "transformation" (technically a character-swap in Impa's case) or not doesn't matter.

With the two faces of the series it certainly doesn't need it. But, if Sakurai made unneeded things lower priority we wouldn't have a fifth Mario character.

The problem with that is we still don't know whether that Phantom is a new move for the real Zelda or just an assist trophy. If the former is the case, then both Toon Zelda and Tetra would be redundant since the former needs some things to differentiate herself from her realistic counterpart.
