Yeah, it definitely should be an award. I think one costume as an award would suffice. However, I think they should add costumes as promotions or DLC content. Three or four in DLC costumes eWorld be more than amazing.

yeah thats what i would like. like lets say there's a "Classic" package that gets you classic designed Pit, Marth and Zero Suit Samus. or an "Armor" pack that gets you Link in Zora Armor, Ikes Awakening design, One of Samus' many different armors, and maybe even an armor from Megaman X or something. Or a "Wedding Day" Pack that gets you Wedding Dress Peach, Wedding Bowser, and maybe Diddy in a tuxedo or something lol. skins are so easy to create i kind of assume its gonna happen.

Sakurai didn't come out and say no costumes. He said that characters will have an amount of customization to them which does not include costumes. It can be taken either away but, the fact remains, he did not outright say no to costumes. They are still a gray area as of right now.

I would pay for costumes but ones I would like. As well, packs would be pretty awesome. In addition, I think costumes shouldn't be a entirely different character (I.e protoman and Megaman), but rather a reiteration or form if that character. If it was a different character, only the clothes should be worn; not an entirely different model.

that can only do so much. Like Daisy as an alt for Peach works fine. cause let's face it, design wise there is very little difference between to two characters. but a color change couldnt give u something like say a "Super Strikers" Peach or something like that cause it is an entirely different outfit.

It has most of the usual suspects. Maybe a bit large.

I like idea of having Lyn, Chrom, Marth and Ike but 3 is probably the FE rep limit. I'd take Lyn over Ike or Chrom myself. I was devastated that Lyn was only an AT in Brawl.

Sheriff is an interesting choice but I'm neither for or against him, Takamaru and Starfy.

Ninten for a 3rd Mother rep? It's at least unexpected.

I see a lot of potential for Paper Mario but I also think Mario has the necessary reps. Though both Paper Mario and Toad have earned it IMO.

I'm totally for Bomberman. Having him and Mega Man in Smash would be a dream come true for me. Sonic coming back with them makes the ideal 3rd party roster IMO. Pac added to that covers getting the most notable icons in gaming IMO (Mario, Sonic and Pac-Man) plus two of my all time favorite VG heroes (Bomber and Mega).

I'd enjoy playing your roster but if you could trim it a tiny bit I'd consider it more believable.

Pichu went because he was literally a joke character, and was extremely unpopular. (Biggest waste of a slot in my opinion.) and Mewtwo nearly came back. The priority may have been more in favor of recency, but the work was still put in to a degree.

Given how much more connected Sakurai is to the fanbase, and how popular Lucario still is, I only see cause being made to add Mewtwo and not remove anyone. Lucario's just going to be more popular for Smash 5 if he's taken out. It doesn't make any sense, especially when it's so easy to just take away Shadow Ball from Mewtwo (Or don't) and still have the two characters be entirely unique from one another.

Why cut Lucario? He's still very popular, and is in fact still the mascot of Pokemon Smash. Besides, like Sakurai said, he's not aiming to have any cuts. Only if he absolutely has to, and in those cases I think characters like T. Link are more at risk than someone so unique as Lucario.

Pichu is a joke. But, that's not why he was chosen. As stupid an idea he was I would just like to point out when people are talking like they ARE Sakurai. I think it's obvious he chose him because he was going overboard with clones and got stuck in the zone. "Oh, well we COULD have a clone character for Poke'mon since there are different evolutionary forms."

I admit Ninten is a liiiiitle bit of a longshot. Lyn is in there as a "Just in case character". 3 FE reps is more believable. I am honestly suprised the rosters on Smashboards don't have Starfy. I'm shocked he's such a likely character. The only reasons I've gotten are that they don't want them in their roster. Or that there is no moveset for him (which is BS I can pull a moveset for him right out of my a**)

I updated my roster again. I took out Sonic and replaced him with Paulatena. I know it's hard to imagine SSB without Sonic after people have wanted him for so long. But, If Sakurai HAS to remove characters I imagine the ones that aren'r Nintendo might get the boot. I now have Paulatena Just in case (even though I consider Kid Icarus fine with just Pit.) And added Lyn as the Female rep over the assumed Semi-Clone of Marth: Eirika. Lyn is so popular and has SOO much potential. And if we don't get her we should at least get Chrom and that's what's important in my prediction.

First of all, I don't think 3rd parties will be DLC. It's just not the type of treatment I see Sakurai giving them. I know PSASBR did it, but these are apples and oranges we're talking about, two completely opposite game developer philosophies. Not to mention PSASBR's criteria for adding characters was first and foremost MARKETING before fan service. (What game was hot at the moment).

With this out of the way, I'll keep going.

Metal Mario: I don't see this happening because 1.- He wasn't selectable in SSB64. And 2.- The Metal Box makes everyone Metal version.
The rest DLC seems legit, though.

My only irk is that Isa Jo has as much of a chance as Saki Amamiya who wasn't even mentioned at all. If anything, Sakurai mentioned he was the character that came closest to being a playable character, so that has to count for a lot, IMO.

All Fire Emblem characters sans Roy: Just can't see these sidekicks happening. They'd have to get over Chrome, Marth, and Ike.

9-volt: I have nothing against him, seeing how he holds my favorite minigames in the Warioware series.. But I can easily see Ashely or Cricket before him if they plan on including more Warioware characters.

8-Bit Mario: BIG stretch. Big one.

Sheriff: I think we got our dose of WTF character already. Even if he appears in pixelated glory... didn't Sakurai have a policy against firearms (guns)? Would be amusing, but unlikely.

Paper Mario: Quite frankly, if he didn't get into Brawl when his popularity was at its peak, I can't see him being in this time.

Lyndis: Though she's quite possible, what stops her IMO is the ammount of FE representatives. This opinion of mine doesn't just come out of thin air, Sakurai is apparently more interested in making non-fighters fight this time around, so I don't see him giving priority to FOUR FE swordsmen over more quirky characters.

And well, that's that. Overall it's a pretty solid roster, some alternate versions and DLC choices made me raise an eyebrow, but pretty fun to look at.

I can totally see Ninten as one of those "let's see how much we can add at the last minute" type of deal like Wolf, Toon Link, and Jiggs in Brawl.

How does it take away from a character though? I can understand picking certain outfits that fit the moveset (like maybe having Sunshine Peach instead, as you said about gliding) but what is wrong about them? They are just extra forms of the character. Repping another part of them.

i dont see how an alternate costume takes anything away from the character. it doesnt change the character in any way other than aesthetics. and in all but a few cases it won't even change it into another character. its just something to add to make the characters feel more special and unique to what you want.

Ever played Soul Calibur? They have so many sword wielders with rather unique movesets. And oh wait... Namco, the makers of soul Calibur is working on the game. With Sakurai's genius and their balanacing + Namco's own ideas we should be okay.

If Bowser got a rework, and he doesn't want clones I'm thinking Ganondorf is going to get one too... If both are in the game I'm thinking Ganondorf is reworked and Black Shadow would get Ganon's current moveset with a rather big overhaul to bring it up to snuff of other movesets. Not a big concern.

The Mother abilities are taken directly from the game, those attacks are like no other game and will be different from everyone else's abilities. I can't even see where you got the last one...
Anyway, with their movesets, look at the 3 new characters we just got. They are nothing like any other moveset we've seen so far. We have no reason to be concerned about clonish movesets now. He's aware of it and is actively making every character unique. He may troll us a lot, but he always follows through and gives us a fantastic game. Difficult? yes. If a character is unique enough they could get in, otherwise they won't. Micaiah would be similar to Zelda, but just because theyre similar does not mean they would be so similar their cloens and Sakurai wouldn't let that happen anyway

That's in Brawl's data under character effects as a currently unknown scrapped character.
One common theory is that it is Plusle and Minun, and another common (yet completely idiotic) theory is that it is the Random box because people use "pra" as meaning a short way of saying "player" and "mai" meaning "each".

What? Literally almost all of Zelda's moves are magic. Unless you're counting Sheik as part of that. Sheik would make Zelda stick out even more though anyway.

I think standards is what Micaiah would borrow from Zelda. There aren't many ways that they can interpret magic like attacks into normals without some of them being pretty similar to Zelda's.

My only irk is that Isa Jo has as much of a chance as Saki Amamiya who wasn't even mentioned at all. If anything, Sakurai mentioned he was the character that came closest to being a playable character, so that has to count for a lot, IMO.

All Fire Emblem characters sans Roy: Just can't see these sidekicks happening. They'd have to get over Chrome, Marth, and Ike.

9-volt: I have nothing against him, seeing how he holds my favorite minigames in the Warioware series.. But I can easily see Ashely or Cricket before him if they plan on including more Warioware characters.

8-Bit Mario: BIG stretch. Big one.

Sheriff: I think we got our dose of WTF character already. Even if he appears in pixelated glory... didn't Sakurai have a policy against firearms (guns)? Would be amusing, but unlikely.

Paper Mario: Quite frankly, if he didn't get into Brawl when his popularity was at its peak, I can't see him being in this time.

Lyndis: Though she's quite possible, what stops her IMO is the ammount of FE representatives. This opinion of mine doesn't just come out of thin air, Sakurai is apparently more interested in making non-fighters fight this time around, so I don't see him giving priority to FOUR FE swordsmen over more quirky characters.

And well, that's that. Overall it's a pretty solid roster, some alternate versions and DLC choices made me raise an eyebrow, but pretty fun to look at.

I can totally see Ninten as one of those "let's see how much we can add at the last minute" type of deal like Wolf, Toon Link, and Jiggs in Brawl.

Sheriff: I kind of disagree with Sheriff being a WTF, but he is kind of unlikely if you think about it.He isn't a WTF character unless you don't know much about him, actually. A lot of rosters have him and he's also the first Nintendo game and would be an Arcade rep. He works just as well as Ice Climbers in my opinion.

Paper Mario: Not being in Brawl does not affect the chances of anybody. Wario, Diddy Kong, Wolf, Meta Knight, and King Dedede didn't make it into Melee. And Pit, Mewtwo, and Dedede were all planned for SSB64. So I'm not sure what you're getting at there.

Lyndis: That's just a "Just in case character" having 3 FE characters would be enough.

8-bit Mario: He is only overshadowed by other Mario characters making him very unlikely. But, I'm curious to hear why you think he's a big stretch.

9-Volt: Wario Ware won't be getting another rep. However you say Ashley & Cricket are more likely. How is that? 9-Volt has been in all of them, is more popular, and again has more moveset potential. He's one of the most famous Wario-Ware characters alongside Jimmy T. If anything 9-Volt is a bigger stretch than 8-bit Mario.

But, you used Toon Link, Wolf, and JIGGLYPUFF as examples of adding character at the last minute.

Wolf has been requested since SSB64 and is a favorite SF character as well as the badass rival from the series.

We have 2 Links in SSB for a reason. There are so many versions you can't just pick one and expect everyone to be happy with that choice. People LOVE Too Link. Not to mention Toon Link is Young Link's immediate replacement. So he wasn't added at the last minute at all.

And JIGGLYPUFF. Not only was she planned from the start considering that she was in the first game. She is one of the most popular Pok'emon ever and thus deserves a spot in all of them.

And how exactly is Micaiah similar to Zelda? Besides the magic (of which Micaiah's moveset would mainly be based on, whereas it is not even half of Zelda's moves)

If by not even half, you mean full, then yes. From what I remember at this very moment Zelda has like ONE move that isn't magic power. It's when you crouch and tap A she does a little kick. That's pretty much it. No offense, but you have used her before?

Micaiah might borrow the normal attacks from Zelda, but I'm sure the specials would be different. Micaiah using magic which are actually used by Link in Ocarina of Time makes no sense.

The assumption was not her being a clone AT ALL. It was concern that making magic powers that are completely unique from Zelda, Paulatena, Issac, Lucas, and Mewtwo may be quite difficult. It's like having an overload of sword weilding characters.

Seriouly, Peach literally can't glide without her dress. Therefore, it looks so unlogical that Peach is floating with a Striker suit. Alt. Costumes e really take away from the character, the only exceptions are hats (Like Pikachu's) and probably helmetless (Like Sniper said about Megaman)

Again, bluepikmin11??? Where does it say her dress is what floats. Isn't it suppose to be magic?

Personally I think the best roster for fire emblem would be Marth, Ike, Roy, Lyn. But Chrom is a strong choice as well since he is so popular.
