I think the criteria Sakurai is going for newcomers is:

-Popular, at least somewhat I guess.
-Unique.
-Important to his/her own series.
-I have no idea.

This fits Mega Man, Villager, and Rosalina & Luma. Wii Fit Trainer doesn't really count because she was a WTF character anyway.
This fits Waddle Dee perfectly, including the I have no idea part.

Yeah, there's a distinct different between people I want and people I'm expecting. When I think of what characters I want, it really just comes down to how fun I think they'd be to play as and just personal sentiment. Super Mario RPG was one of my favorite games, and Geno was by far the most interesting character in it to me, so the idea of playing as him gets me really excited. He's far from an obvious choice though.

Just the other day, you where stating that everyone would be 'with you on this one' while talking about Impa, and how your opinion is OBVIOUSLY superiour to mine. Let alone the rest of the world.
Which is why the only person here siding with your Impa crap is some guy who didn't even read it and doesn't even agree she's likely or getting in at all. You're reaching new levels of dumbass everyday. Eventually I'm going to run out of popcorn. :rotfl:

Actually, one thing that changed for me is that I'm starting to prefer Avatar over Chrom.

What do you guys think? Looking for a little input. I'm considering fully updating my roster with Avatar alongside Marth and Ike.
After the Rosalina reveal it's become obvious that gameplay potential outrules pretty much everything else. While there are ways to make Chrom unique, you need to dig deep to find that, and even then it isn't as blatantly obvious as with the current newcomers. Chrom can also never get around the fact that he looks a lot like Marth and Ike, and while that might not be a big thing, it would still make him feel similar to them.

I feel that the Avatar could bring more to the fray in that manner, since if I'm not mistaken (and correct me on this one if I'm wrong, since I haven't played FE) you can combine both standard weaponry and magic to make a really unique moveset. Plus he/she's essentially the Villager and Pokémon Trainer of Fire Emblem, so that's another reason to add the Avatar over Chrom.

So yeah, I think it'd be wise to replace Chrom with the Avatar.

Aside from Fawful and a handful of others, there aren't many characters who I feel would bring as much to the table in terms of thing we haven't seen at all. Who did you have in mind?
i'll stick to one character as an example for now because i'm lazy
Bowser Jr could use his paint brush in a ton of ways like painting the ground and making some one trip :awesome:

Respectable members of this community as KumaOso and ManlySpirit however agree with me. Take note these two gentlemen are around my age, thus are more capable of critically thinking and using their brain in general.

Could you please not be such an eyesore to this whole community as a whole and bring our reputation to complete ****? I'd appriciate it. There are PLENTY OF PEOPLE who avoid this exact thread because you have made it your home ground.

Wish I could buy you an one-way ticket right back to Saturn where your sort of people belong.

The Avatar's role in Awakening is about on par with Chrom's, and at base value, is able to use swords and magic, although the magic is much more emphasized. Additionally, the Avatar has a unique skill set as the Tactician unit of the game, plus he/she can reclass into almost any class in the game.

Meh, I don't really see Robin using other class items other than swords and magic if he's in the game. Just let him define the tactitian, like Anna does with her staff and Levin Sword in the game.

WFT? I can see how she's WTF and not really such at the same time. People just didn't see her coming, because many of us are "hardcore" fans primarily, whereas Wii Fit is primarily aimed at casuals.

Popular? Wii Fit sold millions. People ate it up. Hence they made sequels.
Unique? That Fighting Style sums it up, she's a fitness nut in a world of fighters.
Important to his/her own series? This is the weird one, there's two trainers, but they never really do as much as the quirky board.
I have no idea? She "Fits" this. :awesome:

As I said yesterday while reading and replying to Diddy's Impa statements, maybe we should just agree that both sides have some arguments that carry weight, but nothing definitive, so let's stop getting pissed about a video game and talk about what cool stuff could happen instead.

I really don't know how to feel about the Avatar. I've been a Fire Emblem fan for such a long time that there's a whole host of unique characters in the series that could bring so much more to the table than the lords. It's a bizarre series because the important characters usually aren't the interesting ones, and it's one of the few franchises that doesn't have real main characters. I joke about seeing Erk, Guy, or L'arachel, but they have no importance. Until Awakening was announced, I was hoping that the Fire Emblem game drought meant we would go back in the series to find an interesting villian or something, and I was really hoping for Hardin. Awakening kinda shot that though.

Good afternoon, hope you're doing well and HOT DAMN did I come in at the right time.

*Pulls up a chair*

Entertainment! Played some Wind Waker HD, did some stuff on Miiverse, designed some stuff, and now I come on to see pure entertainment. Anyone else want some of this popcorn? A bit of warning though, this situation has made it a little salty.

Also I've changed by new Fire Emblem Choice to Robin/Tactician, so yeah that's a thing now and I'll be making a new roster soon. :p

Am actually only inflexible when heavy, biased, unproffesional opposition appears. The kind of people who say an idea is complete **** because they don't share the vision, without any sort of consideration. I know many people think Sheik is more likely. Am just merely stating facts that challenge their opinion greatly. And yes, I do like to get extremely annoying whenever I find people treating me similar. Am just gonna repeat untill someone with decent knowlegde can at least say; 'You know man, it's a possibility'. I don't want people to agree with me, just to accept the fact it's a far more likely scenario than many seem to think. It's perhaps ideally thinking, but I believe Impa has a genuine chance, and is in fact THE most likely Zelda newcomer to consider.

I like how Saturn thinks the fact that he constantly gets into arguments/childish name calling spats with many people who rarely argue with others reflects on them instead of him.

Let's all just take it easy, which I know is asking for a lot. These are preferences over video game characters after all, and there's nothing more important than that.

Robin is a cool dude, but his magic abilities are pretty much defined by Zelda. If Robin used a unique type of magic like maybe freeze whip or maybe a little bit like Isaac's earth powers, I would be real interested to see Robin in Smash.

I totally get where you're coming from. I mean, the trolling gets annoying, but when people keep feeding you...idk. There are just times where the trolling has more negative impact on the people who aren't being a **** to you, man. But I'll admit I've trolled now and then too, largely for the same reasons.

The nice thing is that with magic you can do pretty much anything to make it unique. It's not like a physical weapon, where it has a set shape for the most part.

Maybe Robin could combine magical effects with sword, as a reference to Robin's proficiencies and Ignis skill.

On that note...should the character's name on the roster appear as "Avatar" or "Robin" or something else?

I think I'd prefer Robin just to avoid having too many vague names (Villager, Trainer, etc.)

I mean, technically you're able to name Isaac and several other characters in the games too. Though they didn't call the Pokemon Trainer Red, so I suppose the precedent would suggest we call him Avatar.

I say Avatar because Robin would give too many people bad Baseball flashbacks :teeth:

I prefer Robin, I don't want to call him something generic like Tactician. That's like calling Bowser "Giant Turtle Man."

I like the name Robin better, the Avatar seems a bit generic and reminds me of Xbox Live avatars. :p

I think it should just be "Tactician", since it's the character's overall title, like The Villager and Pokemon Trainer.

This reminds me of when Wii Fit Trainer was announced. At the time, I was consistently talking with a lot of other YouTube SSB4 video makers, because we were recording LagFest. For some reason, we just started calling the Wii Fit Trainer "Laura."
