So, I reecently made my cuts roster, how do you guys think?

you got a nice setup, the only things that bugs me is Jigglypuff missing, but meowth is a more important character so that's nothing, there also bandana dee but he's a personal want though, also props for leaving wolf in

I think Simon would stick out less than Snake, but I think he'd still stick out from all of the bright colors in Nintendo world

That said I'm still backing Bomberman. Simon's come hither eyes, pouty lips and feather boa draped over his shoulder would be entirely too distracting for me during a Smash game. This is before he breaks his whip out.

So who would you guys pick for a second Sega character?

I'd pick either Vectorman (favorite SEGA character), or Pulseman.

Vectorman doesn't really have a shot, but I love his transformyness. He could shoot energy blasts from his hands, use leg thrusters to attack and recover (his Dair would be godlike), and he can transform pretty much any part of his body into anything. Wether it's inflating his fists so they become huge, or growing a scorpion tail, to transforming into a train or a tank.

Pulseman was made by Game Freak, but was published (or was owned?) by SEGA. Not sure who exactly owns Pulseman these days, but it would be awesome to have him around. His gameplay gimmick is that when he runs, he stores electric powers for him to use. So translated to smash, his electric attacks would be weak, but if he runs for a while, his electric power is doubled. He can only use this once before he has to run again to charge some more electricity.
He'd be a sort of hybrid between Captain Falcon and Pikachu in his fighting style.

Actually, this ain't half bad. My only gripe is the lack of Waddle Dee and cutting Jiggs, but this is a great roster otherwise. And you have Cranky AND K Rool. Props.

If I had enough space for one more character, Bandanna Dee would probably be in it.

I give you props for putting Cranky Kong, though I think there shouldn't be 4 FE characters, remove either Roy or Robin. Personally I would remove Roy, since Robin is probably going to be the more unique character. Most of your additions are original newcomers, so why not add someone from another series?

With FE, I decided that the best possible solution was having both Roy and Robin. I've got 5 new franchises, I think that would be enough.

What you should know about me is that I would never cut Wolf before Falco, I find Wolf more important.

So, I'm guessing most of you seem pretty alright with it. I think I might have come close to mastering the arts of cutting!

Any character from sega genesis? okay let's see.....simba from the lion king lol jk he'd get wrecked by most of the smash cast, to be honest i have no idea who to pick, even though i tried with the first thing that came to me.

If secondary Sonic character is allowed; Tails. If secondary Sonic character is not allowed; Vyse from Skies of Arcadia...or maybe Alex Kidd.

On the Konami debate I'd go Team Bomberman. I think Simon would stick out just as sorely as Snake would. Also if Wii Fit Trainer is considered unique because she fights with Yoga poses, a guy who fights with just explosives should be considered just as unique.

Or would had Snake already taken that position too.

Really? I can see old school Simon hanging out with Link and Marth no problem. But to each his own.

Anyhow, if I had to pick another "reasonable" Sega character, it'd be Nights. He should offer something interesting. If I was being biased, I would pick Vectorman in a heartbeat.

Despite being a Falco Main in Melee, I can understand the "Importance." Wolf is a huge rival for Fox. But personally, I'd rather see no additions nor cuts for Star Fox. I swear, if we get Krystal....


But if I made one specific change to that roster, it would be to cut Goroh for Bandana. But it's your roster, you make your decisions, buddy. And I'll respect them!

It's not really an average Waddle Dee Chandelure is talking about, but Bandana Dee, the fourth playable character from Kirby's Return to Dreamland. He also wields a spear.

And Chandelure is actually the biggest Bandana Dee supporter on this whole forum ^^.

Well I'm not sure anyone is saying he is a shoe-in. I think it's more that people really just want to play as the character. And he can offer something unique when it comes to fighting, what with the spear and all.

He isn't my most wanted character, but I won't complain if he does get in.

Yes, I'm sure some have. I know I did. But she seems to simply be climbing the ladder in a sense. As far as being an important character goes.

No one said he was a shoe-in. We Bandana Dee fans just think that he might be fun to play, with an interesting spear-based moveset, as well as a good choice for a new Kirby rep.

It's my favorite Kirby character and my most wanted newcomer.
And it's not a shoe in but is the most likely and requested Kirby newcomer and a pretty popular option between newcomers in general.

I would also continue and say that he is a very likely option for being an left fielded character and being a unique addition, two types that sakurai is looking for, not the shoe in's that everybody wants, but defiantly a likely character now

Okay, so we know who most people want for a second Konami character. And we know who some people want for a second Sega character too. But what about Capcom? Sakurai said something about not wanting to use fighting game characters. So there goes Street Fighter's chances of making it into Smash.

If I had to chose someone from a different series, I'd go for Arthur from Ghost and Goblins. Or Fire Brand from Ghost and Goblins/Demon's Quest. But if we're talking a second Mega Man Character, I'd say either Megaman X, Bass, or Zero would be cool choices.

Oh, and Viewtiful Joe. Point is Capcom has a lot of characters to offer.

Has Meowth, Goroh, Robin and Roy. I totally approve. I've a secret soft spot for Vaati too. Don't give a **** that Sheik's been replaced by Impa either. I'd of preferred Dixie to Cranky, and Isaac to be on there somewhere but frankly that's such a small point compared to these other interesting choices it'd seem petty to knock a whole point off for that.

Also I like the thinking behind Nintendouji. He'd be interesting for sure and would be a great merit of Nintendo history.

I'd be very happy if this was the final roster. Well, obviously I'd of been happier if Toad wasn't a dashed dream, but eh, I'd easily get over that with Meowth being added, a decent 2nd F-Zero character, Roy re-added and a more interesting Awakening rep than Chrom/Lucina/Chrom+Lucina.

My major "erk" with that roster are the 4 FE characters, but yet there is no 4th Kirby. FE seems fine with just Math and Ike, TBH.

No, no. Castlevania has a clear, obvious tie with Nintendo (as does Bomberman), and Castlevania is a better selling franchise (by a considerable amount).

Comes up on the Wii Shop Channel under Game Freak, so it's a safe assumption Pulseman is owned by Game Freak. Though the official Pulseman OST was published together with other SEGA games (such as Ristar and Comic Zone), so there's also a small chance SEGA owns a small portion of the license.

Castlevania has one advantage over Bomberman, small or big as it may be, and that's its iconic status back in the NES days. It helped define the NES in the same way Mega Man and Contra did, and that alone often makes people connect Castlevania with Nintendo consoles.

Personally whenever I think Bomberman I think Playstation, but that's because I played it on that.

After all, I did bring up the Graffiti mechanic at the Bowser Jr. thread, and that can easily make Bowser Jr. different from other playable characters.

Ammy's not a bad choice either. She fits fine in fighting games like Marvel V.S. Capcom 3. So taking inspiration from that moveset would be kind of cool.

The paintbrush alone should make him unique. But I would throw in the Koopa Clown Car for good measure. Oh, and give him Fireballs. Ones similar to what Bowser uses in the platforming Mario games.
