There is no way Sakurai is going to overlook Dixie Kong and especially King K. Rool (who has been popularly-requested for years now) just to implement Cranky Kong.

I said this before Rosalina was revealed: I don't even think Smash 4 is revolving around importance. Every essential character was implemented in Brawl. Sakurai is now just adding fun extras.

Maybe not a popular opinion, but I'd argue that every absolutely 100% essential character was implemented in Smash 64. The eight starters and Luigi are the bona fide Nintendo "All-Stars." Even the other three characters in that game are ultimately just fun extras, to use your terminology.

That's not to say that Melee, Brawl and SSB4 newcomers aren't great, iconic characters, but no single Nintendo character is in the same league as those original eight (and Luigi) when it comes to sheer iconography.

There is no way Sakurai is going to overlook Dixie Kong and especially King K. Rool (who has been popularly-requested for years now) just to implement Cranky Kong.

As a possibility once again:

Maybe the best situation for Cranky is for K. Rool to be a boss for now so Cranky can be the DK newcomer, while Dixie is tag-teamed with Diddy. Then in Smash 5 K. Rool can be playable. Of course, I wouldn't mind if K. Rool was in Smash 4.

Yes I think so to. Honestly am leaning more towards a sort of semi-clone character. Bowser Jr. for example. Maybe Paper Mario to. If nothing else... I guess Dr.Mario? In all actuality, after Rosalina's reveal I've been more open for Dr.Mario. Provided he's just there to fill space.

Hmmm....
As I said before, it seems that Sakurai's "goal" for newcomers for this game is originality from other characters AKA non-clones.

So I have a couple characters id now say.

•Tingle (as a Zelda rep, not his own series)
•Waddle Dee (unless Krystal or another spear/paintbrush user gets in)
•A new Pokémon, though I'm not sure who it is, it will be a Pokémon that has never been playable in smash.
•A Magic using Fire Emblem rep.

And to an extent Regii, only because that Reggie Mii guy wouldn't get off the stupid screen!


Here's a good question!
What characters that were deemed "likely" before Rosalina's announcement are less likely to you now? And Mario reps don't count.

I'd say:
•Toon Zelda/Tetra
•Pichu (if he was even likely, I don't even know.)
•Chrom
























•and old Gir, after the show cancelled.
(I'm gonna keep bringing up old Gir until I drive pizzadudemanguy insane. Even to the point were I have to put him in Project Bidoof if nescasary.)

I don't think it's impossible. I'm just emulating how my friends who supported these characters reacted.

5/6 Zelda. Add Impa. Keep Sheik or whatever.
4 DKC. Add K.Rool and Dixie / Cranky.
6 Pokémon. Add Mewtwo.

Even Kirby could have Bandana Dee added.

That's a possibility, but I don't really expect it though.
I think we reached an overkill limit of 5.
Instead of a 6th Mario character, give it to a character from another franchise.

Not too much, a good amount. I have a good feeling we'll get what we want and more (that we never knew we wanted until we got it).

Just thinking about how we have all the veterans plus a newcomer already revealed for the Mario series, I have a feeling we will still get another Mario newcomer, totalling 6. I mean, Mario is their biggest series, so it could potentially have more characters than Zelda, Pokemon, etc. Not that series balance matters, but I feel that Mario should have the most, for obvious reasons.

...Yes and no. I saw a newcomer reveal coming soon, but sooner than I thought. I'd rather have a few veterans revealed, like 3, then a newcomer.

Maybe, since the Smash release is probably near or soon in 2014, I expect the leaky 3 to be revealed in E3 2014, and maybe a few newcomers in certain months.
