I wonder if we're going to see a Nintendo Direct in light of the embarrassing VGX reveal for Nintendo. If so, I think we could see a newcomer get confirmed. Otherwise, newcomer confirmation should start rolling out next year.
But yeah, recency really shouldn't be used to argue for a character inclusion outside of getting noticed in non-recurring franchises. Too often the goal post is moved to support recency being a major factor, despite evidence to the contrary. As far as I'm concern, Marth's inclusion shows how little recency matters when deciding who gets in.
Considering that Toon Link has already been confirmed to return and we already have confirmation of eighteen characters, I think Sakurai is going to reveal them all before release. I have a feeling that we're done with unlockables.
There's an exact same picture with Quint on it (Mega Man that got captured by Dr. Wily and got converted to Wily's desire in an alternate future).

I liked the reveal as well, was a good surprise (was expecting Funky to be honest). It's more of an issue that the reveal really did not fit the VGX audience and I was hoping for something else.
Depends. I certainly wouldn't want one that bows down to investors. Perhaps if Iwata got replaced by Satoru Shibata, it could turn out well.

Brawl's Christmas update was Super Sonic, so I'll wager in favor of Mega Man's Final Smash being revealed this time around. New and more exciting than Super Sonic, given that there's no E-4-All demo to give away all characters' Final Smashes early, but nothing earth-shaking.

Yes. So far. That ratio won't stick, and I was referring to the whole roster, not solely the three characters revealed so far.
A bit presumptuous. Unexpected? Obviously. Very very unexpected. And I still think there are better choices. But her inclusion makes sense, even if not predicted. Wii Fit is huge, and she's the closest you can get to the MC of the series. And yeah, I would've chided people who predicted her, but I would've been wrong. She's surprising, but she's still a logical addition.
Because Skull Kid's points against him don't hinge solely on Sakurai's opinion in the same way Villager's did. No one should've argued Villager's merit, Sakurai would've given AC a character in Brawl had he been of a different mindset, so it's not like Sakurai's mentality about Skull Kid's feasibility would automatically erase all his other points against him. Villager's only mark against him was Sakurai himself. So yeah, Villager was illogical, but only due to Sakurai's opinion on his feasibility, nothing else. The same cannot be said for Skull Kid.
But like I said about Skull Kid, even though illogical, he wasn't impossible. Which is why we still got him. But people expecting him (and who had knowledge of Sakurai's statements) were still being illogical.
So people only get one chance, huh? Should someone who predicted Ridley for Brawl and then says expecting like... Groose for Smash 4 isn't very logical be ignored on the basis they didn't get their previous predictions correct? It's not like they'd be using the exact same argument for Ridley (that obviously didn't pan out) to also support Groose. Predicting some characters incorrectly doesn't disqualify you from being able to tell which inclusions aren't very logical in the future. Likewise, predicting some characters correctly doesn't disqualify you from being incorrect in the future either.
Your biggest point for Skull Kid has been how people have been wrong about other characters. That doesn't have anything to do with Skull Kid specifically, that could be used interchangeably with any character. Just because people were wrong in the past, doesn't mean relative common sense they might still have doesn't apply.
But yeah, even though it wasn't me who said it, calling someone "********" over it is a bad choice of words, and a hyperbole. So I apologize for not clarifying that I didn't have the exact same sentiment as the bitter pepper who used that word.

Considering how Sakurai packs pretty much all his games with a substantial amount of hidden content, I wouldn't be surprised if unlockables were to return, even though I obviously can't do more than guess at it. In any case, if we hypothetically did still have unlockables, while revealing veterans is one thing, personally I still think Sakurai is going to attempt to keep the hidden newcomers hidden (other than third-parties).

Watching you people speculating reveals gives me a headache. Mostly because none of you realize that what you base it off of is not a sufficient pattern. I mean everyone says "Oh, Ness reveal cuz Mother's day or ****ing whatever!" While Toon Link got a reveal for Wind Waker HD, there have been so many other characters not revealed with their games. Now we're basing predictions off of Brawl reveals? What sense does that make? Why is something that is absolutely unpredictable and almost never happens the most talked about topic?
I also don't see why we are speculating Newcomers? Each newcomer gets their own trailer and I'll bet we're not getting ANY until the next Smash related Nintendo Direct.

What's the matter? I didn't phrase that as a concrete prediction, rather an example of what we could possibly expect to see (aka, probably not a character).
Also, Angel Island Zone was revealed as music Christmas 2007, though what with the current site's layout, anything that's not a screenshot doesn't seem probable. In addition, if Brawl's DOJO is any indication, we'll be getting a week off of screenshots after Christmas and into January.

Speculating what'd be a good reveal for Christmas is all nice and fine, but I hope nobody is actually expecting a reveal for Christmas.
Sure, but it's not like the amount of newcomers is likely to increase substantially like it has previously.
