We all know that out of all non-Mario/Zelda/Pokemon franchises represented in Smash so far, F-Zero is the least likely of having a newcomer. That MIGHT change if a company is willing to develop a new game. Other than that, F-Zero's future is pretty uncertain for now.

You never know, Sakurai could pull a "Lucas" and give us Samurai Goroh. It wouldn't be unwarranted. As far as I can tell, F-Zero is already more popular than Mother. Captain Falcon is a Smash Icon, and Samurai Goroh just happens to have made an appearance in the Melee opening alongside his status as an assist trophy. I wouldn't be surprised if he is added.

Recency is not always the most important thing.

(The Lucas reference is based on the notion that Lucas was added from a "dead" franchise. Ness and Captain Falcon also both happen to be Original 12 roster characters that surged in popularity due to Smash. So there is a bit of a correlation).

This, and not just this.

Samurai Goroh has been, basically, in every F-Zero game's boxart. (Minus Maximum Velocity for the GBA which doesn't even have Captain Falcon).

I hate it when people refer to Yoshi and Wario as Mario characters. Different logos, different series. Obviously they have done enough to warrant representing their own series, as Sakurai considers them from the Yoshi and Warioware series.
I can see why people lump Yoshi with the Mushroom Kingdom reps even though Sakurai gave him his own icon. Yoshi originated in a Mario game, is still in main Mario titles, and even in his own games the backdrop is the Mushroom Kingdom.

Wario is obviously derived from Mario, but the similarities really do end there.

So guys which characters from the current series that have been showed in the new Smash would be a surprise, let say for example King Boo as a newcomer from Mario Series, so which characters would be a surprise?

Toad... just to prove that Toad can be both a playable character and be part of Peach's moveset at the same time.

Tingle... just to prove that haters gonna hate and Sakurai doesn't care about haters.

Meowth (or any new Pokemon)... just to prove that we are not getting the expected "Brawl Pokemon + Mewtwo" treatment

I would be surprised and delighted by Giygas or Porky.

Sylux and Weavel from Metroid. Just to see people's reactions. I'd imagine that the internet would explode. Like forty times over, or so.

I'm not sure where else to put this, but it might have a Smash reveal at it:
Nintendo of America said:
Three huge franchises, one epic launch event. Come to Nintendo World at 8 p.m. ET on 11/21 to celebrate Zelda, Mario and Mario Party!
Thoughts?

Sure, if we get really lucky. But that event will pretty much be solely for those games. Like a 85% chance nothing Smash related will happen. I'd like it, but I don't see it happening.

Here's a quick question about a zelda characater,
Lets say Sakurai's decides to add a third Link incarnation, who should it be?

Just a couple thoughts on topics I missed...

I do view Yoshi and Wario as separate franchises because there are Yoshi and Wario games that do not feature Mario at all.

I think Lucas' addition is different from the potential Samurai Goroh simply because of MOTHER 3; it was a big, new game in it's own right, and Ness is not a part of it.

To a lesser extent, this is the same reason I think so highly of Chrom, and not so much of Palutena.

I'd assume a variation of Link from the "Hero is Defeated" timeline (since all the other timelines have been provided for in the past); perhaps a retro-style 8-bit Link from Zelda I and II, or the pink-haired 16-bit hero from Link to the Past. And yes, I am referring to certain incarnations of Classic (or Retro) Links - I'm just giving it the more unnecessary seasoning of overly-long terms.

Edit: How could I have forgotten Masked Link? It is unfortunate.

Not that I give credence to the probability this will ever happen, because it never will.

I actually do like the "Classic Link" idea some people had, using the Link to the Past/Link Between Worlds design. It could have really interesting specials using magic, Hammer, and Pegasus Boots.

...But I'd still go with Masks Link. Three sword-wielding Links would be....overkill, I think.

Do you guys think having 3 Links is possible, I think it's possible, but most people think we only need two Links, which is pretty much opinionated.
Eh if there was some alternate costume for Toon Link or Link that switches them to a different incarnation than I guess, but I think Sakurai is more than content with just having at least one adult and one child Link in smash.

*That lovely feeling when you know that the Link you want in Smash is already safe and sound within the roster* :toonlink:
I have always preferred Toon Link over Link because he's better. I don't know why Sakurai never tries to improve Link... how about improving Link before adding a better version of Link?

Why? We have Adult Link and Young Link, the only 2 essential versions of Link. I mean having 3 versions of the same character is pretty excessive, maybe even more so than Toon Zelda.

I think so. I mean, if Adult Link and Young Link is acceptable, then why not Adult Zelda and Young Zelda?

Poor Ganondorf has never been a kid.

I don't think he intentionally makes Link bad, I think he is just trying to get a good balance between the two but ends up backfiring it. I'm happy for the Link fans though that Sakurai and his team are at least trying to buff him up a bit in Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS.

I hope they both end up at least fairly well balanced this time around.

Clearly he's the best of the best. Dude stabbed the King of Evil and the forehead. But he needs them fire arrows, son!

Also, Smashboards, would you kindly let me post.

I really am not intereseted in being told what is physically possible yet completely unlikely. Stuff like that goes without saying.
As long as you recognize that the roster being finalized isn't 100% factual yet, I couldn't care less. You just always say with certainty, which bothers me.
