There's not much to say on it until we know what it is. If it's something similar to Nintendogs, it might not make a difference.

I have this feeling that Miyamoto told Sakurai's to save a space on the roster until he announces it, or he flat out told him the character and details for a stage.
After all, Pikmin was really new at Melee times, yet Olimar was a trophy.

Not saying it is,but it'd be so illogical and unrealistic for it not to be. How could you possibly get work and development done if you keep changing the roster. Why do you think there was nothing even referencing Super Mario Galaxy in Brawl and no mention of Wind Waker in Melee? Because Sakurai doesn't want to constantly change things to keep up with the future. We're doing a crossover of Nintendo's past.

Yeah, it's highly illogical to change the roster so far in development. However, what if he isn't changing it? What if all he's doing is adding a character? That means no wasted efforts on another character, and problem solved, right? This has always been my personal viewpoint on the matter. If think he's adding until he's either out of characters or the cartridge says no.

Have we ever talked about the main character from Miyamoto's upcoming new IP?

Not as far as I know. We don't know what he or she looks like. Nor do we know what kind of game they will come from. For all we know, they might come from a game that offers very little to no physical character movement involved. But I suppose another Captain Falcon situation is possible.(Unlike Fox, whose moves are references to the various powers of the arwing) I don't really expect another Roy situation going on myself.

Then again, I guess that's something you can't have foresight on, can ya?

Last minute additions can still occur if there's still some free space to use. With a 25 GB ISO, anything can be possible.

And as I said to Pizza, all from already well-established franchises. Do you think that if any of them were from their own franchises that had just released during Smash Bros' development that they'd even be considered? No, it's their series' lineage that got them in Smash.

Yeah. Even if (Miyamoto's New IP) wasn't the best of games, it doesn't mean that not everyone enjoyed it. It's probably pretty important to represent (Miyamoto's New IP) for the historical significance it has, and the fact it had such an enjoyable main protagonist.
