Would be seriously rather have clone characters on the roster rather than them just being alternate costumes? Sigh...
Anyways, I firmly believe every character should at least have one alternate costume.

Some clone characters can't be costumes, such as Toon Link. Pichu might be a difficult costume to implement based on the discrepancies in the models, that isn't to mention whether or not Sakurai wants the "hurt yourself" mechanic. So some clone characters will have to stay clone characters if they want to make it in the roster. I don't see why characters like Dr. Mario wouldn't be an alternate as opposed to an actual clone. Unless he REALLY doesn't think that fire fits with Dr. Mario.
Yeah I agree with you there, but I'd rather have a Funky Kong costume for DK and not a Funky Kong clone of DK.
If Sakurai seriously has a problem with characters with alternate costumes getting moves that don't really make sense for their costume, he could just, y'know, make an aesthetic change to that attack without changing the stats of it.

I think these costumes are mostly going to be gender costumes.
Like a female Villager (with sound effects) and female Pokemon Trainer (which I am not sure even requires different sound effects; does he speak?)
And Wario being a special case. Of course Dark Link, Blood Falcon, and Daisy recolors should reappear.

When people suggest that a character 's alt should be a completely different entity, I imagine said character DISGUISED as said entity, not BEING said entity.

This whole list works. Except for Metal Sonic. Metal Sonic doesn't run, he floats/flies. His whole deal would be out of whack if he were suddenly crazy ambulatory. Also he's a robot, if his motions were fluid like Sonic's, it'd just look funny. Shadow is the midway mark between the two. He can have the same fluid movements, but he also moves differently because he floats/ skates through the air. In the same thinking that others are posting, all of these characters are alternate versions of the original character, except Metal Sonic. He's his own character, as is Shadow, and neither should be considered as a costume for Sonic.
Also. EX - CAAAALI- BUUUUUUUUUUURRRR!

Nah, I can't go tricking or treating. My school had a Halloween Dress Down day and the makeup for my costume (I was a corpse) wore off. I have no makeup left

If you're going to put an obscure character in your roster, pick ONE of them. Sakurai isn't going to saturate the roster with 5 newcomers being obscure characters. If you want Diskun, fine. But don't add any other obscure character besides that, because chances are it isn't going to happen.
Sakurai has to add the big name characters to draw massive hype. Adding in Diskun, Kawashima, Harry, etc...all in the same roster? Especially when we may only get around 10 (+/- 2) newcomers? Never happening.

haha, seriously. They came up behind some little kids that were getting candy out of the guys jack o lantern thing. As soon as the kids were done the old dude just went back inside like he didn't see them standing there lmao. Probably didn't help that one of them was dressed as a classic 'sheet ghost' and at least two of the others were just wearing Scream masks.

The only three I'm not sure on are Goroh, Biker, and Roy, but (if I'm correct) Goroh was planned for Melee, and Roy is high up on the popularity, so I'm OK with them (for now).

As for Goroh. He's a bit more of a personal choice, since I am a big F-Zero fan. And despite his lack of recent appearances, I still feel that he's deserving enough for a slot.

Definitely. He has a lot of cool possible alts. I'd like to see him revealed with an official confirmation of costumes.
I think the odds he comes packing at least a Kaptain costume, and maybe a Baron one, are higher than those of other characters, since costumes are a far more central aspect to K. Rool's character than they are to the vast majority of other characters. With most protagonists, costumes are a temporary power-up or gimmick; with K. Rool, he changes costume and the entire theme of the game shifts as a result. It's also an endearing quality of his that sets him apart from the other villains and heavyweights (and characters in general), so yeah.
