Falkoopa: "Oh hey look Wario's so Frame-to-Frame in Warioware-games, absolutely lovable I like"
And thus we got a moveset which capitalizes of motorcycling, super-weird moves and farting. While completely ignoring WarioLand. (except for one move).
So I have to agree with Oasis. (to some degree)
Two, actually. His forward throw is clearly inspiried by the Wild Swing-Ding.
And while I'm a big fan of Wario Land (especially Wario Land 3; one of the best games of all time IMO), it is understandable why Wario would be mainly Ware based.
Simply put, WarioWare is overall a much more successful series to Nintendo than Wario Land, is by far one of the more unique franchises Nintendo has to offer (with only Rhythm Heaven to compare, for quite obvious reasons), and really did more for Wario's identity being more than just a Bizarro Mario.
I understand what the Colonel means when he tells Snake that Wario "really made his name in the WarioWare games".
However, the treatment of his techniques from the Land series admittedly was not that good. While he can be mainly Ware based, he does have rather iconic techniques outside of Ware.
Making the Shoulder Bash a low range side smash instead of a full force dash attack was a poor choice. The faceplant dash attack was kind of an insult.
The Ground Pound not being in the game is
sort of understandable, given we have Bowser and Yoshi doing it. However, it is a big part of Wario to not include (it is bigger to Wario than Bowser). It works wonders as a down air like in SSB Crusade and I assume Project M, especially if it retains its properties of getting stronger the farther he falls like in WL4 and Shake It.
Seeing as his forward throw took after the Wild Swing-Ding, the
other Wario World throws should have been incorporated somehow. The Piledriver as an up throw, the Wild Swing-Ding made into the back throw (yes, I know that it would make it like Mario/Luigi, but whatever), and the typical charged toss as the forward throw. His down throw could stay the same. His pummel however, with Shake It, should be changed to him shaking his opponent.
And while this doesn't apply to Brawl since Shake It came after, the Earthshake Punch should defintely be incorporated somewhere, like his down smash, replacing that god-awful spin on the floor.
Though honestly, that's all he really needs.
While he'd still be Ware based (which makes sense in the long run), it still gives Wario a little more from his Land aresenal that would easily fit Smash in place of some of the Brawl-original moves. And why he didn't have a proper Shoulder Bash and Ground Pound to begin with, when both moves are
featured in some of Wario's microgames is beyond me.
.....I am sorry. I didn't mean to give a whole essay about Wario. Forgive me.
