To be fair I don't have any good reason for not wanting evolution. I just don't think it would feel right... or something. I dunno exactly. Maybe it would depend on the pokemon. But definitely not for the Pikachu line. Maybe for the starters I'd like it better actually. Or for a Pokemon like maybe Eevee?

You seem misunderstand what a joke character is. A joke character is a character made deliberately bad. The most famous example is Dan Hibiki in Street Fighter. Many joke characters, including Dan, are often also fighting clowns, but that's not a prerequisite. Jiggs is more of a fighting clown, as she isn't really all that bad, except in Brawl.

Pichu is the best example of a joke character in Smash because he was clearly made with the intention of being terrible.

I'll just jump in and say that I wouldn't mind if Pichu returns. I always like running around as that super light, suicidal mouse. I feel that Pichu could make a fun high-risk, high-reward character, if done right.

Thing is is that deliberately bad characters have been shied away from in recent games. What's now in is the Lethal Joke Character. Jigglypuff in Melee is a prime example of this.

Pichu -> Pikachu (also an option as a standalone character) -> Raichu.

I love this idea, but I think it would work much better with the likes of Vaati than anyone else.


On Pichu,
Pichu would dominate at item play, if you played FFA with items and picked Pichu he'd be able to get them before anyone else could. I would sometimes troll people with Pichu, that being said you had to be careful because he would hurt himself...

Yes, but discussion of the character is quiet. Then again you can only say so much, but I try to expand on that whenever possible.

Why should he not come back when he was already it? Why is the character delegitimize when it wasn't an issue in another game? Why is an issue to bring a character back? Why should this character not come back while others do? Or, why do other characters get in while this one (who has been in the series)? The arguments you present fall flat on their face when faced with this. Everything you and Diddy have said are your opinion of this glorious roster without Doc. But just because you don't like the character doesn't mean other people shouldn't. As Doc was a character before, why should he not get to return. Who is to say Dr. Mario fans can't have their character back too?

The issue is the same in Brawl. All your arguments are trying to say why someone shouldn't get their favorite character, who, mind you, was already in the games. It's do different than saying "You don't get to have Roy because he's a dirty clone and I don't like him." Replace Roy for Doc and you have everything you and Diddy have said. The reason he's getting frustrated is because the arguments are ********. At the end of the day, you two are just being jackasses.

When I support a character, it's mostly because I like the character somehow. Not only that, but also moveset potential.

For example, Anna from Fire Emblem: as a trickster, she uses swords and staves. Tricksters in Awakening are commonly associated with the Levin Sword, so why not give that? It's a magical blade that would differentiate her from other sword users. More, she has access to mage classes in Awakening, an aspect that could also be represented (then again, she already has the magic sword, so it could be redundant).

Merging Doc and Mario is certainly an option. However, another option is to emphasize the differences between the two. Make Doc heavier and slower, but with more power behind his attacks.

As I've said before, I believe the best option for Doc is for Mario to have an "EX-mode" with the differences that Doc had, but perhaps exaggerated.

Also yes, Mario in Project M is easily the best incarnation of the character so far. It actually feels kind of fun to play as him, which is something I don't say much any time Mario is playable.

Sol Badguy, the main Protagonist of the Guilty Gear franchise and essentially the 'newbie character' is the best in the game in the right hands simply because he's so well equipped to handle everything, and thus can start and string combos REALLY DAMN WELL (hell the Dustloop forums were named after one of his trademark combos the "Dustloop"). He's a variation of the "balanced jack-of-all-trades" archetype and he's ****ing awesome at it, he's my main in Accent Core Plus.

Also, in Blazblue you have Jin Kisaragi who despite being more of a Zoner, is also a very balanced character who more or less follow the Ryu "shotokan" moveset and is among the best characters in BlazBlue.

In other words, being the "jack-of-all-trades" balanced archetype doesn't mean you have to be a sucky character. In fact, quite the opposite, they should be among the top considering they're supposed to be able to handle everything thrown at them. Mario is NOT this. Even Ryu in Street Fighter manages to stand around the higher parts of tier lists.

Doesn't matter how you feel about him. Fact was, he is still, in the game.

Let me point out that this is stuff I shouldn't have to explain. It's pretty sad I have to. This isn't talking about a character that has never been in like, say, Impa. That character has never been in Smash and are unproven. Dr. Mario, was in Smash. It means that 1)He could be in again and 2)There obviously wasn't an issue before. Need I also remind you that he, too, was planned for Brawl. The issue is that Doc can work (he was in Melee) and there is no real issue bringing him back (he was planned for Brawl). So the issue here is not reality but the imaginary world you made in your head.

I'm growing tired of having to explain this to you too. I expect much better than this. F. See me after class.
