B-but Snorlax don't float! :scared:
Well, the main contrast between the two would be Snorlax is extremely heavy, and ground based. While Jigglypuff is extremely light, and aerial based.

Miss the old Ray Gun to. And the electic effects where also cool. But nowadays, people would abuse that on ZSS if you know what I mean.

Couldn't the Ray Gun also show the opponent's skeleton when getting zapped in SSB? I loved that effect, especially Pikachu's electric attacks.
Ah yes they did. That was a nice detail. I kinda miss that in the newer games too but obviously we don't have that anymore due to the more realistic approach they toke... Not that mid-air jumping and all that kind of stuff is realistically possible... :/

If you hit Samus with an electric attack you could sort of see her without her suit. But in green if I remember correctly. It was a nice easter egg.

That was the thing that make me realise Samus is a woman. Even though I didn't know Samus pre-SSB64.

So retro helped work on mk7, but I doubt the entire studio worked on it, so since this game they have been working on could have been started in 2010, it will be reveled at e3, and if it is not a new Ip we will start seeing a lot more request from that series

Edit: man if it's star fox *shudder*

Every item and character felt so much stronger in Super Smash Bros 64, to me at least. The fire Flower, the Hammer and the Ray gun. I don't know if they actually were stronger compared to the newer games or not. But they certainly sounded like that. Especially the ray gun. It actually felt like I was actually using a gun in the game due to the loud bang noise it made. Good times. :D I always disliked how much softer it sounded in the later games... They had to for obvious reasons of course...

Ah well's. :p
This is a big example of how sound plays a big role in landing a hit. Without those sounds, you lose that sense of accomplishment when you land that hit. I miss those sounds from Melee. Even if it was miniscule in damage, it made the attack seem scary.

It's actually so true. Especially if you have wacky eyesight. The easier it is to indicate that the attack hits (i.e. a louder sound), like a projectile, without paying attention to it, the better. Ness's Side Smash in Melee always scared the hell out of me, especially if I wasn't expecting the attack. That loud CHA-LING! Like the Freezie sound...But it was so awesome.

For whatever the reason, we find it easier to react to something we hear over something we see (likely a defense mechanism).
Ya, I was making a sandlot joke so...

Edit: but sound does have so much importants in most media

Yeah I'll definitely agree with this. Both 64 and Melee had more feeling behind attacks that was a lot more satisfying. I loved Samus in Melee due to power I felt her missiles had, but in Brawl even the Super Missiles felt underwhelming. May have also been the rumble, but still something felt off.

You know, all this talk about sound effects gives me an idea: what if you could pick the sound effects you heard in-game?

I agree with you guys, I miss Melee's SFX. I think I dropped playing as Jiggs because playing as her sounded annoying on TV. All those SQUEAK SQUEAK sounds she makes. And if anything, the feel of impact and actual real sounds on certain things (like explosions or sword slashes) aren't there.

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon has multiplayer?
If not multiple Luigis, I can see Luigi, E. Gadd, and Toad as playable characters, but who would be the 4th? Waluigi? :troll:

Actually, I don't know if this has occured to anyone else, but, could anyone else see Waluigi being the villian of Dark Moon?

I've been thinking that it was a strong possibility for quite a while now.
I'm more than certain Waluigi will have SOME kind of appearance in the game, but him being the reason the Dark Moon is shattered would be icing on the WAA cake.

I'd rather Waluigi appear in Wario Land or Ware than Dark Moon. When people suggest him appearing in the Wario franchise, it's generally because he'd fit there like a glove (such as in the Foreman costume posted a few pages ago). Suggesting that he appear in Luigi's Mansion, however, just seems like desperation for him to make some sort of appearance within the main Mario games.

Or maybe it's because Waluigi was created to serve as a rival to Luigi. (Not to be a doubles partner to Wario like what people think)
Hell, we even know that he frigging STALKS Luigi with Mario and Sonic London Olympics having him invent the Waluigiscopes solely for spying on Luigi to find his weaknesses.

It isn't farfetched for Waluigi to be in Dark Moon.

I don't think Waluigi appearing in Dark Moon would be terrible and unwarranted, but I'd agree with BKupa that I'd prefer seeing him in a Wario game. Personally I'd love a new Wario Land game with Waluigi in it (whether Waluigi is playable or not). If you like Waluigi, an appearance in Dark Moon is better than nothing, but I guess I just think that they're kind of squandering him by not having him appear in Wario games he would fit so well in. Oh well. :ohwell:

Really? Would like to see that. Is there a vid for this?

Look, I think Waluigi as a concept is pretty hilarious to. At least, I liked him in the Mario Power Tennis opening. But outside of that he really needs something real to give him more character. I'd probably support him for the next game if he gets a real appearance of sorts.

I agree up till now Waluigi has only appeared in the: Mario *Insert Sports/Leisure activity here*

He needs a game or something to define himself.

A cross-post from the Smash 4 general thread

So like, I don't mean to derail you current Waluigi topic but I posted this in the general Smash 4 thread and wanted to know what the character general thread thought.

How do you people feel about the art style for Fire Emblem: Awakening?

Chrom or Krom (pictured below) is the protagonist of the upcoming Fire Emblem title. I know many speculate about his inclusion in Smash so I'm including him in this post.
[COLLAPSE="Chrom"]
[/COLLAPSE]

Here's "Masked Marth" who appears in the box art.
[COLLAPSE=""Masked Marth""]
[/COLLAPSE]

And here's the rest of the characters we've seen in Smash
[COLLAPSE="Marth"]
[/COLLAPSE]

[COLLAPSE="Roy (Melee)"]
[/COLLAPSE]

[COLLAPSE="Ike (Brawl)"]
[/COLLAPSE]

[COLLAPSE="Lyn (Brawl assist trophy)"]
[/COLLAPSE]

Full gallery: http://www.giantbomb.com/fire-emblem-awakening/61-36394/concept-art/52-566760/

Would you prefer this new art style used for Emblem characters in the upcoming Smash games or would you rather stick to the less JRPG-ish art style?

I would like the Awakening versions for characters like Lyn, Lucina, Chrom, and maybe even Marth.

But characters like Micaiah and Ike need to be Radiant Dawn, although I could deal with that version of Micaiah if need be.

You guys could get your wish about Waluigi in Dark Moon:

It turns out Luigi won't be alone in his 3DS ghost busting adventure.

Although Nintendo has yet to officially announce the feature, its Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon website revealed that the Next Level-developed title will support multiplayer.

"With so many new places to explore, all new ways to capture ghosts, and a brand new local multiplayer mode, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is another star turn for Mario's heroic brother—and it's only on Nintendo 3DS," reads Nintendo's site, despite still listing the game's number of players as '1'.

The real question - what will this multiplayer entail? Competitive? Cooperative? Number of players?

You might want to stay tuned to IGN in the coming days. Just saying.

Actually, StarPhoenix, that's sort of what prompted this whole Waliugi discussion.

On Waliugi: Not all Mario characters need their own series. Waliugi simply wants a prominent role in another of the spin offs. Either Luigi's Mansion and WarioWare/Land would be awesome for him. Heck, both would be great. We'd see two sides of him with him as the hero's right hand man, and as the villian (not that he hasn't had this role before).

On FE redesigns: For Marth and Roy, against Ike.
