idk. its too developed? it just doesnt seem too intriguing to memorize everything about 4 matchups thats been played out hundreds of times.

kinda like....every competitive game that's more than 3 months old?

if intrinsic game matchups isnt intriguing or motivating, and learning tech aspects of the game isnt intriguing or motivating you will never get good at any fighting game

im not trying to **** on melee. im just saying that out of all the games available to me, melee's intrinsic game matchups and tech aspects are the least appealing. i cant wait to play ken chun and yun forever. and 3s is from 1991.

melee's matchups aren't intrinsic at all. people honestly overthink and overplay them. the only thing "intrinsic" is learning the timing / hit stun / etc. for all the moves and stuff so you know when to follow up and when not to. the game itself is simple: when your opponent is in the air, when the opponent is off the stage, and when your opponent is on the ground.

there were few good people to play in singles at connor's.

you: too scared to go sheik in friendlies, zero interest in your ****ty secondaries
lovage: played him a lot, he's good
nes: didn't get to play him often, dunno what homey was doing
larry: hardly saw him play melee at all besides a couple of teams the first day
atlus: switched off, probably evenly; played him a decent amount, he's good
connor: played mostly GG. played him before everyone came. he got better.
plan 9 / leon: don't play the game (well)
psycho ******: fun playing teams with him, but wasn't there most of the time
tofu: played him a lot, he's good

who else am i missing? doesn't feel like i'm missing anyone.

basically the only interesting thing to do were teams, and that requires four people. it gets stale when it's mostly the same 2-3 teams as other people are playing other games.

we had a limited number of people and the multiple definetely took away from what the smash fest was supposed to be for, melee.
i'm saying if you asked larry, since you didn't get a chance to play him, ( and i'm assuming you did ask) i don't think he'd decline cause larry is not that kind of guy. Maybe when you asked he wasn't in the mood but that wasn't really anyones fault.
i mean, if you don't feel like playing then you don't have to.

I'm just saying i noticed a lot of sitting around going on due to our only having 4 set ups so when i saw he wasn't doing anything i asked to play.
i got 20-30 matches with larry before he got too scared to fight me anymore

i get what you mean though, more commitment to melee during melee smashfests.

was it a melee smashfest? lol. i thought it was just come and hang out at connors and play whatever. other games will def leech from melee at a relaxed smashfest, but if everyones serious at riptides tourney the melee should be strong. i would imagine that the atmosphere would be different between a toureny and a fest

yep, i lost by 2 stocks on final and got 3 stocked when i counterpicked green green hoping to win by a fluke.

i also mained link and falco back then.

it was also my 3rd tournament.

Yeah, preferably no other games. I really want this melee and melee only. Sorry about not being on, but ****. It's been what, one day? And everyone's *****ing about me not getting on. A lot of concerns came up today, but I wasn't home til now.
