Media Release
Adelaide – South Australia's reputation for being on the cutting edge of IT is about to get a boost, with the largest ever gathering of Australian computer gamers set to take place at the Adelaide Showground early next year.
The Reloaded Festival 2008 will be held on January 26th and 27th 2008. It will be the biggest gaming event in Australian history and the largest LAN Party event ever held in the southern hemisphere. Reloaded Festival 2008 will feature PC and console gaming tournaments, anime displays and competitions, a digital art competition, tabletop war gaming and much more.
Current estimates place attendance between 1200 and 1500 people, over a thousand of who will be attending the LAN gaming events. A major feature of the Reloaded Festival will be the massive CounterStrike: Source competition, with more than 40 five man teams expected to compete for glory - and the $5000 in cash prizes!
The Reloaded 2008 Festival continues to build on the success of previous years, including the sell-out Reloaded 2 event of 2007, which attracted over 500 people to the St Clair Recreation Centre. Pictures and a report of that event can be found at:
http://www.salanning.org/viewtopic.php?id=97 .
The Reloaded Festival 2008 is backed by Adam Internet, a South Australian Internet Service Provider. (

Background Information
Reloaded Events
Reloaded events have been held since July 2006, and this will be third and largest of these events. In fact this Reloaded event will be the largest gaming event of its kind ever held in Australia, the previous record of 1000 persons having been set in 2003 in Melbourne at the Telstra Dome.
Reloaded Events are run by the entire South Australian Computer and Console Gaming Community. Reloaded is also a not for profit organization with all money sowed back into the local community.
Reloaded events are coordinated through the South Australian LAN Association, whose website is based at
www.salanning.org.

Competition List
Reloaded believes that rather than having 3 or 4 specialty comps, which appeal to limited audiences, we would rather have many comps that appeal to as many people as possible. In this way we look to the European LAN events like those run in Sweden and Norway.

Proof of previous tagging will be required to prevent this, and persons are encouraged to have their gear tagged and tested beforehand to avoid lengthy delays.
Tagging and testing facilities will be available at the door, and during setup for those who wish to take advantage of this.
Qualified Reloaded staff will also be coming around to local gaming events and LAN’s over the next 3 months to tag and test machines. It is highly recommended that you take advantage of this procedure.

Reloaded is pleased to present the Counterstrike Source Competition for 2008. Last Reloaded saw the biggest Counterstrike Tournament ever held in Australia at a LAN event, and this year we expect forty teams to participate.
Due to so many teams participating, the competition will run in two stages.
1. Group Stages – All teams will play off in group stages with the finalists to be determined by how many groups there are. Its likely the top 8 will make it through to the finals. This will be in the evening of day 1.
2. The Finals – 8 teams will play off in a double elim finals series which will be carried on HLTV across the internet and across the venue.
3. The Loser Bracket – all teams eliminated on day 1 will play off in a single elimination comp for a consolation prize.
Pre-registration for this competition is essential.
Rule sets are likely to be fairly standard, and can be expected to be released shortly.

Reloaded is pleased to yet again present DOTA as one of its major competitions at this event.
This event is likely to be done in group stages, with a single elimination final series. This event is currently scheduled for the afternoon/evening of Day 1 of the event.
Rule sets will almost certainly follow the CAL league rules.
Pre-registration for this competition is essential.
Quake 3: 1v1 Tournament

Gameplay Type : VQ3
Competitors are required to pre-register in order to compete in the Reloaded Quake 3 Tournament.
All tournament matches are to be played on the Reloaded competition servers.
Teams will be seeded by Reloaded committee which will be based upon match records and players input. Disrupting the fairness of seeding by aliasing may result in forfeiting from the competition.
The tournament will be composed of a group-play round which will progress to a Double Elimination style bracket. A player will be awarded 3 points for a win in group-play with the top XX qualifying for the Double Elimination bracket.
Reloaded is pleased to have AVCON onboard as one its partners for this event.
