Recommended Seconadries?

I was thinking of picking up a secondary for some of luigi's worse matchups and i was considering picking up diddy kong cuz i like his combo ability...but if anybody thinks there is someone else who would be better to pick up by all means..

I like using Marth, and I notice a lot of Luigis second Marth, or vice-versa

Mario's also a common secondary, but I despise him T_T

I've for some unknown reason picked up Pika as my secondary lately. Maybe its just because I miss playing pokemon back in the day. Haha. I don't actually use a secondary in tourney though, so honestly I couldn't help you here.

Find someone who does well against MK and maybe Robert/D3 if you need to. Luigi can handle everyone from high tier just fine, its just some of those pesky tops that get in the way...

yea i think i've camea conclusion...as soon as i found out that diddy's nanerz out-prioritize ALL of metaknight's atk's it just cemented my decision to pick him up as a secondary.

Not really sure on Peach...but Olimar's a good secondary.

It seems like everyone is just giving random personal opinions, so I'll give mine.

Luigi, even though he is an absolute beast in Brawl, cannot win every match, no matter how skilled you are or how much you have mastered him. Most of the cast is fair game if you're good enough, but no matter how good you are, you will lose to a good G&W, Metaknight and Marth. Each of them are better than Luigi at all of his strengths (air game and combos), and since most of their options are safe from someone like Luigi (g&w's turtle, mk's tornado, marth's fair), it will be extremely hard to use aerial pressure or to mind game them into a tough situation. If you're playing someone who places high in tournaments with any of these three characters, you will lose. If you want to win tournament matches consistently with Luigi and another character, I recommend one of these secondaries:

Metaknight - ***** all.
Snake - ^^^^^^^^^^
Marth - He's a really well-rounded character. He will balance out your weak matches and make up for Luigi's lack of range.
Falco - When people camp your Luigi (and they will), you can camp them back with Falco.
DDD - Always a reliable option against those good, unpredictable randoms once you have his chain grab & aerial game down.

Also, Luigi's main weakness is getting kills. All of these characters can kill much faster and at lower percents than Luigi. You need a character that can kill fast.

i usually just use GaW since he goes well with my lack of patience against spammy/campy players

but yeah, its best to just stick to your main and overcome the tough matchups


btw, I don't think marth is that good of a choice for a secondary for maining luigi.

But if you are competitive, go with Snake he can beat MK, DDD, (Marth?)

scary how accurate this is... i played against a top g&w last saturday who has done well in big tournies and usually wins the weeklies... i got OWNED... part of it was my fault cuz i played to aggressive but i didnt really see any way to win the match...

I <3 Snake. Falco is almost certainly a great choice; he does pretty well against a lot of chars and his CG is brutal. Snake is also a good idea...
I don't think G&W covers Luigi's biggest weakness; I.E. campers (although I may be wrong).

Yeah, I don't think GaW is a sensible secondary either when you talk about covering weaknesses, I just use GaW because has a cool playing style and he is different.

yea i know he's from brawl but i mean the game he originated from...people were telling me different things so i wasn't sure if brawl was his first appearance or not.

Edit:the cutscenes were great! BUT GOTDAM what a cheap boss.

If I can't cut it with Luigi I sometimes try purple Luigi. He does better against ROB (but not much) unfortunately, DDD has an infinite on him =(
