So, if Rayman got in Smash, how much more canonically powerful would he be compared to the other third parties (including Snake)?
Well, I guess I'll answer, I feel if we compared to what Rayman can do, post R3, he'd most likely be as strong as your typical mascot, namely Mario, with or without the powers. Sonic and Megaman would me more powerfully given the games their powers come from. Ryu and Snake have the most "realistic" of the powers, Ryu being a more "aggressive" form of fictional power and Snake (with guns and all) being power from a logical standpoint.

But it's why I don't consider all that, not thinking too far into detail, because it ruins the fun in them, imo. But mostly all of the 3 parties still don't match the characters that are known to "canonically" defeat gods.

The world is capable of exploding from hype an immeasurable amount of times. It cannot be stopped under any circumstances.

This was legendary, and it's just one of many hype Smash reactions.
I grew up with Melee. And I still consider it's intro the best one. It's too bad I wasn't a part of the internet/media at the time of these events Sakurai held for Melee, but this one pretty great of a reaction at the time.

Funny thing is, I always played Melee with my friends, but I never actually got my own copy until christmas of 2007.

xD And I never played Smash Bros 64 until I did on a emulator, since I didn't own a 64. But I got Melee with my Gamecube in 2003, and ever since loved the game and it what has gotten me into being a game designer.

My history with Smash is a quite long and rather tedious one.

I absolutely loved Melee and played it endlessly when I got my own copy in anticipation for Brawl (I only got even more excited when Sonic was announced). I eventually got Brawl as well and played it nonstop.

But then, my copy stopped working, while I also lost my copy of Melee. I was on a huge hiatus when it came to Smash, and I was not able to play the series from around 2009 up until last year, where I finally was able to get another copy of both Melee and Brawl. It was painful.

Wow. Sorry to hear that pal. It's funny cause something like that did happen to me before, but I ended up getting a new copy after the first stopped working.

But it was kinda symbolic in a way that my copy just choose to stop working all of a sudden, and the same thing happened when I got Brawl and before I got to play it for the first time, my Wii stopped working because I knocked it over by accident while playing Melee. Weirdly, all of my Gamecube games still played, but the Wii games couldn't, including Brawl. I was scared I couldn't play the game right as I bought it, but then like a miracle, my Brawl disc made the Wii suddenly work again, and essentially fixed my Wii. It was Melee that gave me my Gamecube, and Brawl that fixed my Wii. xD

Well, looks like Smash gave you the blessing, while I got the curse.

Yeah, sorry again friend... But I glad you did have a great time with those games during your life, that's the good part that can't be taken away from you, "curse" or not. :) And assuming you have or will have Smash 4 yourself, maybe Rayman would be added to your memories of Smash as well.

Yup, I have Smash 4. It's the main reason I got a Wii U, and let's hope Rayman joins the fray to make the game even more awesome than it already is.

My history with Smash began when the commercial of Mario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Pikachu were skipping across a meadow when it first came on TV and if you don't what I'm talking about here is that commercial.

They really missed a huge opportunity to remake this commercial with Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man.
