Well, isn't this interesting. Fingers crossed that it is about Rayman.
there is something interesting. if Rayman joined SSB4 thats mean he is going to be the first newcomer from the 1990s in SSB4 look at this:
1970s::4duckhunt:the Duck only
1980s::4pacman::4littlemac::4larry::4roy::4wendy::4iggy::4morton::4lemmy::4ludwig::4megaman::4palutena:
1990s: NOTHING
2000s::4wiifit::rosalina::4bowserjr::4mii::4villager:
2010s::4greninja::4robinm::4lucina::4darkpit::4alph:
i am sure its going to make alot of the 1990s gamers happy if we got a newcomer from the 1990s and most people already know that 1990s was a golden year of gaming and the best one
You forgot :4shulk:.

He was referring to newcomers.

Edit: Oops, didn't see that. ^^^^ Embarrass
My bad, I thought he meant necomers or representation of the 1990's era overall in Smash not just Smash 4 in general. I was about to say we have good bit of 1990's representation in Smash already though I'm sure Nintendo could squeeze in one more 90's gaming character in.

Wasn't this the guy who made that video about the leaked Nintendo Direct schedule?

And why would this be about Rayman?
Yeah, that's him.
Yes, it's extremely unlikely it's about what Ubisoft put out today. He can always make a video about it seperate from this, though. That's what I'm hoping for.

I heard that it was going to be about paid subscriptions on YouTube, which means that they're going to be charging us to watch videos on certain channels or else the videos will become private.

That sounds much worse than Rayman being in Smash.

By the way, all this aside, I want your opinions on something..

Thinking about everything that has happened for the smash roster over the years, something dawned on me... Something that might spell trouble.

At this point, we have over 50 characters in the roster (Which could go past that if we get more than a few DLC characters). This is kinda a problem when you think about it... Each one of these characters (Save for the clones), take time to create. Sakurai has mentioned each one can take months. This even includes characters from previous titles too, since they have to be made from scratch, thanks to the new smash engines that are used in each console. Taking all of this into account...

Could it ever be possible that we could reach some sort of threshold for newcomers? A point where the roster is just unable to expand anymore without taking a decade of development time... I mean lets not forget the features and modes they have to work on too... Stages, Trophies, game modes.. online play.. Game balancing.. and in a world where devs are put under certain time constraints to get a game out, that isn't a good thing. It could very easily get to the point where just for us to be able to see a substantial amount of newcomers, we'll start to see more and more cuts as we go through more installments.

Considering how a lot of people react to just ONE character getting cut, this could definitely cause an uproar in the community, even if it is something the developers can't necessarily control. So yeah. I want to know what you all think about this sort of thing... Could the community adapt to it?

Imagine wondering how Sakurai could possibly top Brawl.

Nintendo gave him Namco Bandai.

I highly doubt there will ever be a point where Nintendo can't just throw in more money and manpower.

So what's your guys' favorite boss throughout the franchise?
I'd have to say the fight against Reflux.
Uhhhh.... guys?
I would have uploaded the JonTron "STOP TAUNTING ME" video, but it looks like someone beat me to the punch.
Instead, have Chris Pratt.

Never would I have thought that Rayman would one day have a legitimate shot at being in Smash.

The fact that we have come so far is incredible and surreal.
Same here man, same here.

Honestly, even without being a fan of either Ice Climbers or Wolf in previous Smash games, I was pretty surprised and upset that they could be cut. Then I realised that I actually didn't care whether they were in the game or not since I had nothing to do with them. Now as for Lucas, I was gutted when he got cut, but even then it wasn't the worst thing in the world since we had all these new characters to play as.

We do have a fair number of clones still, and they would always be the first to lose out. So I imagine we're not at the threshold yet! But it is a valid concern.

If K. Rool and Rayman were added as DLC, I wouldn't even care about Smash 5.
They are my most wanted characters and they would make me more hyped than I was pre-release.
THAT'S how much I want them in.

UGH I loved Reflux's battle music XD

Thats another thing I like about what this DLC does to us. It feels just like pre-release all over again, with people speculating who could get in now... its just perfect XD

The clone ratio is still definitely getting better. Ganondorf, Doctor Mario, Lucina, and Dark Pit are really the only clones we have actually.. even Falco is a semi clone now.. and Luigi has well soared out of this group.
Thats 45 to 4.. pretty good if you ask me. (Not gonna bring Lucas into this though, since we don't know "exactly" how he will play yet... He could stay a clone, but then again he could go semi clone on us)

Then we have melee.. where we had SEVEN clones... Doctor Mario, Luigi, Ganondorf, Falco, Young Link, Pichu, and Roy... 18 to 7... We have definitely gotten better since then.

Oh definitely! I'd even stretch to call Ganondorf a semi-clone.

But Lucas isn't a clone.

How the smash characters will grab Rayman? Obviously they'll grab his body, but the lack of limbs and the grab would be rare.

I've always pictured in my head that when Ray gets thrown or hit hard, his body travels a bit farther than the rest of his limbs, in a comical manner.. lol

If anyone wants to play Smash before Mewtwo takes over the world, I'll be creating a room at 10:00 PM.
Heh.. imagine the response someone would have if they somehow managed to not know mewtwo is gonna be a thing again.. stumbling upon them online.. the reaction would be hilarious XD

I've missed out a bit, but have you seen this before?
Don't know if it's working or not, but what do you think is going on? Sorry I haven't posted here on the Rayman thread, I've been bouncing around the character boards thanks to the Direct.

Sorry, but;

Posted this morning. :p

And yeah, we all kinda think it's Smash Bros Raymanified, we assume.

So guys, if Rayman gets in Smash, what kind of fighter do you think he'll be? Personally I can see him being a toss up of a Speedster charcter or a Trickster fighter. I can even see him being a long-ranged fighter myself what do you all think the kind of fighter Rayman will be?

I was expecting long ranged fighter, with a bit of hit and run attacks for quick damage for combos, and spaced out strategies for the long range stuff, and can be effective for final blows or so...

I'm sure it's been said before but most of Rayman's moveset can easily be pulled from just Legends alone. I'm sure Ubisoft would love to see his moveset being from Legends, especially since it's the most recent game. Not to mention it'd be great for promotion.

A long-ranged fighter is what I see him becoming, with a bit of speedster.

Apologizes for the double post, but would it be okay if I opened up a Facebook group? It could be a great way to attract people.

He'd probably be the ultimate zoning air fighter. His platforming is very tight in Origins/Legends, so he'd probably be a fast faller, probably around Fox's speed, but with his helicopter hair, he could slow down to Jigglypuff's descent. It'd be perfect for mixups, and he'd probably be able to pull off great air combos too. He seems like the perfect fit to be something of an antithesis to Little Mac, fast, powerful and better suited to the air, his ground moves would have a lot of start and end lag, and he would be as easy to kill as Game & Watch. Rayman would definitely benefit from keeping his opponent exactly where he wants them, not too far but not too close, something like Marth but for different reasons entirely. I do need to do a write up for his general playstyle, but I'm not well versed in these things. I'd probably need the help of someone who could direct my moveset into something cohesive.

Oh man, extremely good question right here.

He'll have long range for sure, but the way I see it is that, he'll have a loooot of windup in his moves, in tribute to the way he fights in his games. They'll probably have his attacks going in a very linear direction for balance.

I'd also imagen him being really light weight too!
