Ok. I've been playing Zelda for about two weeks now. I've been reading up on as many techniques as I can in preparation for B.I.O.2 in Cali this month. I intend on using Zelda as my character for this tournament. I seem to be keeping up with a lot of the players, but for some reason I can't clinch a match, especially tournament matches. Please take a look at these videos and tell me what I should improve on.

Yeah! Good stuff! I'm not one to critique but I'll still offer points (this would help my Zelda in my head too as I write this):

- You roll a lot I noticed, and sometimes you get too close to your opponent. Best to pressure and poke with FSmash from a very safe range. Mix it up by charging and not charging it at various points. You won't get punished easily for abusing this move.

- Dtilt lock is useful. Abuse Dtilt like crazy and mix it up with a few tilts and smashes in between if any one gets too close. At around 50% they start to lock and cannot shield or attack, meaning they can only SDI. This is a great opportunity to build damage and also run in for another attack as they stumble - grabs are good here. Possibly an LK if you're close enough ^^ Try buffering a SH Bair from a Dtilt and see the results. At higher percents, around 100%, Dtilt > Utilt combos into itself, often killing.

- Up close, mix things up. USmash, Nayru's as lingering hitboxes / DSmash, Jab and Dtilt as singular hits. These are very useful in mixing up your close game and tricking your opponent if they get too shield or spotdodge happy! Never use FSmash too far up close as it's not the quickest of attacks.

- Bait and punish is quite good. Bait airdodges with Din's when they're in the air and let them fall into your USmash if they're careless. Whiff jabs and Dtilts - the cooldown time on these allow you to do so, meaning as they approach hoping to hit you, you can instantly connect an attack. Also, empty jumps are useful - Jump toward and away from them in one SH, and pressure with Bair in the air or airdodge > FSmash, Dtilt, whatever on the ground if they decide to approach you! This is where her spacing comes into everything.

- Zelda's BEST punisher is Bair OoS. It's amazing! Works great on tall characters. If Marth, Ike, whoever slip up, punish the lag with a SH Bair and you will sweetspot. They will most likely die!

Hope this helps ^^ good luck!

EDIT:: and one super important thing! Sheik IS Zelda. So if you're having problems playing solely Zelda, transform and it could work wonders!

i only watched the zelda vs. kirby so far and from what i saw your pretty good. my only suggestions are..........
when you knock someone off the stage punish them! dont wait for them to get back!
but before you can do that, you need to work on your air game. your ground fiughting is pretty beast but if you got your aireals better your zelda would be beast! lol

Yeah, you should roll a LOT less. It's not a good approach, and it was punished a lot. It's a tough habit to break, but do what you can. I only watched the MK and Yoshi ones so far. In the MK one, I just have to say, I'm no pro, but it seems like going after MK in the air is a bad idea. Zelda's strengths are mostly on the ground. You went after him a few times, and while it may be tempting to go for that Uair or Lightning Kick, they're just so punishable, especially by MK. He can beat you back down and juggle you. Not bad at all though.

I only saw the MK vid. You seem to like to "stand your ground" & stay in one spot, & thats fine. Just change up your habits when they get close, lol I'm not the best @ change-ups/such, but don't repeat the same move especially against MK. Don't start the match using Din's Fire against MK, u should try to get a better position on the stage. Din's never works in the beginning of matches anyways.
Din's is good for-
*retreating
*edgeguarding
*opponent is too close(occasionally)
*rolls
*luring opponents closer

I hope I put the right things about Dins <.<, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
