What do you think Medusa unlocking screen should be? Probably something simple, like "Medusa, the godess of Darkness, is now playable!". (I'm not sure how these sentences were in Brawl. It's so many years ago...)

I think that if Medusa is in there, Palutena is a locked character (if she is not already).

If this happens to be true, it doesn't look good for our ressurected goddess.

But personally, I don't buy it. It's too much hype to be true, especially the -oh surprising- DK and Metroid new slot. And that "color" option too.

And the fact I don't buy it have nothing to do with Medusa, honestly.

While very well done, there's a lot of suspicious things to me. Especially the unlockable fighters... For a demo.

If it was real, I don't think it would be so much as Unlock-able Fighters in the Demo as it is The Demo Showing off how many unlock able fighters there are
which does sound like it could be a thing Sakurai would do

Showing the numbers of fighter would be a little hype killer for me, and I doubt Sakurai would do this. I think he love secret things.
Brawl simply never show it's true number of fighters until unlocking them all, and Melee was a real troll by making you thinking there was only 5 characters to unlock. And that was brilliant.

That's really what I loved with Melee. You were like "but there's only 5 slots. HOW CAN I KEEP UNLOCKING CHARACTERS?"

And Brawl... Well, the Subspace Emissary didn't left any doubt of who is playable if playing it, but hey, it's not SC5 character select. Great game, but you gained a clone, another Patroklos and 3 edge masters (which was the worst part of the game)

Originaly, yes, I'm aware of that. But still, clones could had have a "?" icon too. Yet they don't.
I'm also aware that unlocking a clone like Dr. Mario, Falco, Ganondorf or Toon Link makes it quite obvious that there were more, for the balance of the screen.

It'd sure make it easy for Simon Belmont to kill her.

Professor Fandango's "Serpent Storm" final smash sounds hilarious, especially with that drawing. I guess it could be similar to ROB's special where you continue acting as normal but her snake hair lashes out at everything around her.

Simon Belmont vs. Medusa is a dream match.

If Sakurai doesn't give it that treatment now, which it definitely seems like he is so far, there isn't a time for him to do it in the future. Kid icarus right now is alive thanks to Sakurai and Smash Bros., and might not even have a new game in five more years or whenever SSB5 starts development. And if it does, it might well be by someone else. It's something of a "now" or "never".

I really hope the good treatment In items, stages, and more generaly KI special position in SSB4 will follow for the (playable) characters.

Compared to the Melee to Brawl evolution, it's sure that KI got the biggest improvement. Especially considering everything comes from Uprising.

The two most important characters to the franchise after Pit seems like a foreseeable next step, though I imagine Medusa at the very least would be unlockable if not revealed simultaneously with Palutena.

It would be so fun to see Sakurai troll everyone again by revealing a newcommer, a goddess from Kid Icarus... But not the green haired one everyone want

(And as some throwback from the original KI, it would be fun to have Pit and Medusa as starter characters, and Palutena unlockable)

And yes, I think that it makes some sense. After all, Luigi as been unlockable so far, while Bowser is starter, so a villain first can happen.

Wario, Bowser, and Dedede were all starter antagonists. Wolf, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo were unlockable antagonists. So yeah it really could go either way I imagine.

Well, Bowser is the only case of villain being starter while a hero is unlockable. But yeah, he is not the only starter villain.

Gimme surprises, Sakurai! Don't follow every safe Mewtwo/Ridley/Chrom/Shulk leaks!

I'm always amazed at how underrated Medusa is in general. Kid Icarus is obviously on a large upswing in Smash Bros., Medusa is one of the three most important characters to the franchise, and Medusa is sitting there with the notion of first being a number of firsts for the roster with a lot of particularly unique potential, and second being a relatively surprising character to put on the roster. She may not be Ridley or K. Rool or Mewtwo and have any hints actually pointing toward the distinct possibility, but why hint at a surprising character to begin with?
