Well, it's time I make a moveset. I'll will not go through all moves, just specials, some normals, the grab and the Final Smash.

I envision Medusa as a Heavy character with a few moves with killing potential, but great ability to rack up damages through poison and spacing moves.

Normal Attacks
Side-Tilt: Poisonous Gas

Medusa spray a poisonous gaz from the palm of her hand, poisoning foes.

Side-Smash: Claw

Medusa claws the ennemies in front of her.
Up-Tilt: Snake bite
The snakes on her head protect her by biting in several directions above her.

Up-Smash: Final Uppercut

A powerful uppercut.
Grab: Orange the snake grab foes. Good range, but not a tether (similar to Olimar's Grab).
Pummel: Snakes bites the opponent.

SPECIAL MOVES
Neutral-B: Eye Turret

Medusa summons en eye that send projectiles. Only one at a time, and easy to destroy.
Down-B: Dark Mine

Medusa blows a mine that float in Mid-Air. She can set 3 at a time. Good for controlling the space. Not a great killing potential, but poison foes upon explosion.

Side-B: Stone Gaze
(not the actual animation)
Medusa sends a laser from her eyes that transforms foe into a statue. Makes the character heavier and unable to move, and can be picked up like crates. Limited range, but chargeable for more range and stun duration.

Up-B: Teleportation

Nothing particular, a recovery move where Medusa teleport. Maybe a poison effect at the start of the teleport?

FINAL SMASH: Monsterous Medusa

Medusa turns into a monster and detach her head.
The floating head sends huge poisonous clouds and killing lasers.

The head then returns to Medusa's body, and she turns back to her normal form.

For some reasons, it's a really tactical moveset... And Snake was the tactical character in Brawl :troll:

By the way, I tried to add as many uniqueness as possible.
Personally I'd Swap the Side B and Neutral B, The Neutral should be Natural to her

As the Up B how bout she claw outward as she gets out of teleportation

Also he Body would still be standing when her head is floating about, tapping her foot, waiting. showing some sideboob.

Well, having an attack going in front as a side attack felt natural to me, gameplay wise. Both possibilities are good if you ask me!

About the teleport I find it interesting if it's a passive attack (poison damaging) compared to Zelda's Farore Wind. But a system similar to Metaknight's down-B works too!

And, of course, her body will stay during the final smash. Monster or not, the sideboob must be glorious :awesome:

Ya Gotta have Medusa's Main Special being something that could stone someone, It's the first thing that comes to Mind when you think "Medusa", closely followed by SIdeboob.

Speaking of, Anyone got a Medusa Kirby, I think he should get her eye tattoo along with the snakes

Again, I think both reflection are right.
-It's logical with how the moves are.
-It's logical with how Medusa is.

I think having it as a special moves can help aiming. I remember doing Mewtwo's down-B to the wrong side too many times...

Not really an edit: After speaking of Kirby, it's true that it would be ridiculous if Kirby copy Medusa and doesn't turn people into stone. I'm gonna swtich the moves, then ;)

Absolutely. It's needed as much as Kirby gets Bowser's eyebrows or Ganondorf beard (well, he technically gets OoT Ganondorf's sideburns).

As much as i want Medusa in the game, i don't think she will make it, IMO only Palutena will be added from the Kid Icarus franchise, maybe in the future we may have her (in another SSB or maybe a DLC for SSB4)

I kinda feel the same way. Not only did Hades basically steal the show in Uprising, but Sakurai never really acknowledged her in the Direct while teasing the current status of Palutena, K. Rool, and Ridley.

If she does make it in, I can't see her as anything more than a Falco/Wolf clone.

As much as I want her, I can't guarantee her inclusion (while I'm over confident for Palutena). But there is some elements that can lead to her inclusion. Not "will", but "can".

And if she makes in, I can't see her being a semi-clone. She is too different from Palutena for that. They only share the fact they are godesses and their past, that's all.

And it would be a shame to not use the new poison effect Ashley brought with her. If you look at the direct, Dedede turns a bit purple during the Ashley part.

Edit: Thinking that Captain Ganondorf is a counter argument :troll:

But with Sakurai willingness to add original newcommers, I'm confident we won't get new clones.
To me, it's original Medusa or nothing.

If Medusa is liable to be Falco, Palutena is liable to be Toon Link. So I really don't know why you would actually bring that in here.

And we have gone over Hades several times. If "stealing the show" in one game confirms everything, Yuga is replacing Ganondorf, Lord Frederick and a Queen Metroid are going to be playable characters, and Dyntos is getting in over anyone from Uprising. A one-time retcon is not about to happen over the classic franchise villain.

Personally, I think the Kid Icarus Uprising series will only get two representatives and Palutena seems to be the one to have claimed that spot.

There is a perfectly good reason for Kid Icarus to get two newcomers as opposed to one in this game which has been brought up through the thread, and Palutena more or less has being popular and being a major side character going for her. If Sakurai is only picking one character and uniqueness is the foremost deciding factor, it will probably be Medusa. Though that all depends on what Sakurai wants at this point.

Well the only unique thing, that I believe, that Medusa has going for her is that she is a female villain (besides moveset possibilities). Having more Smash villains is a good thing, but that seems to be the only thing going for Medusa.

In terms of Kid Icarus Uprising villains, Medusa has to worry about Hades.

I would not mind seeing Medusa get in the playable roster, but her chances don't look good when stacked against Palutena and Hades.

While I agree Palutena will be the 2nd Kid Icarus rep, Hades lack something he will never get: being a classic character. Except a few characters like Ike or Lucario who represent some newer characters from a Franchise, all the other characters we get are classic ones. And still, Fire Emblem and Pokémon are unique case, as they have dozen of characters to chose, and there's not really reccuring heroes and villains.

With Kid Icarus being in the "G8" in the first trailer, being almost Sakurai's property and the already good representation of the serie, 3 characters is absolutely not far-fetched. Especially considering only the series in the said "G8" are the only one to have more than 2 characters.

Again, I'm not saying it WILL happen. So far, Metroid and Donkey Kong only have two rep. But Kid Icarus place in Smash Bros 4 is something we have to take in account.

Medusa fills a different niche from Palutena that, unlike Palutena's niche, is not on the roster at all already. And I am talking the nature of her moveset. She is also a classic Nintendo villain with more under her belt than Hades in that department. Hades really can't compete, and the only reason Palutena can is because she's popular and also a major classic character.

I agree. I want 3 reps for Kid Icarus and Hades does seem more of a hazard/adventure mode type boss to me.

Same here. Hades abilities works well as a boss. And also, Hades is popular because of his dialogues, something that could not be done very well as a playable character. He could also work very well as a Smash Taunt, like Starfox and Metal Gear Solid conversations!

I want a tiny hat!
I support!

Uninspired so I'll simply take hats from Animal Crossing :awesome:

Thanks!

I really think the eye can be a good addition. Nobody can set traps (except Snake), and nobody have a "turret" shooting opponent. Plus, the eye theme is fitting Medusa.
The stone stare is a must have.

So, on another topic... What do you think her promotional artwork should be?

I think seeing Medusa standing, laughing, with various Nintendo heroes turned to stone around her should be the thing to do.

I was thinking of something similar, but most of the heroes getting reading to clash. Kind of like this this, but Medusa at her smaller size in a battle ready pose.

Maybe against Pit, Link and Samus, then! As they all originate from 86 NES adventure games. To me, it's quite like they are some kind of siblings.

I like this. It's hard to really say what could happen though, considering just about anything could happen. It keeps my hype strong. :p

Sure, anything can happen. Thinking about that just allow us to keep this thread alive, and have fun imagining the sideboob Medusa in different situations :troll:

Stoned joke? Fat joke?

Am I missing a pun there?
Fat jokes would poke fun at how huge she is in Uprising or her fat monster from from the first Kid Icarus's artwork. Her pale skin, usage of smoke, and her habit of turning people to stone would make her fall in the category of a stoner. Not to mention her henchmen looks like something you'd see in an acid trip.

Well, Arlon or the Chaos dimension does look trippy to me :troll: Not to mention the space kraken, Hades belly... Or the Aurum. This (awesome) music. In a greek mythology inspired game.

It is as awesome as absolutely out of context. I mean, Jazz for technology advanced aliens in the world of KI.

But in all honesty, I never saw those jokes before. Well, there's Pit calling Medusa "Huge" in Uprising... :troll:

For some reasons, I don't want Takamaru in Smash 4...
But that's because a French youtuber said he was plausible because of Nintendoland, and made a mistake and called him "Takamura". Now, a lot of French want "Takamura" and I'm sick of it :troll:

By the way, the Underworld Army is gaining ground in Smash Bros with the Orne ready to scare people again!

On a side note, I like their french name, "Funesto". Funeste means "Macabre, gruesome".

It's five monster from the Underworld Army so far, along the Mimicutie, Monoeye, Reaper and Skuttler in Smash Run.

I was scared at first. I almost thought that was on the Palutena's Temple stage, but it's just either a Smash Run enemy or on that reset bomb stage for the 3DS. Not sure which.

Just a minor detail but Mimicutie is not considered part of the Underworld army, they appear with the no affiliation circle thing in the idols and the cursor on them is white

They were probably watching too much Hajime no Ippo. Guys love boxers and big maras.
