I never even noticed that. Wow.
But really yeah I don't think Sakurai thinks that way. People just divulge their roster preferences that way. Although, I imagine Sakurai sees problems with doing things like he did for Metroid where it has two characters who are the same character in different outfits but MARKETED as different characters, OR the problem with neglecting classic franchise antagonists like K. Rool, Ridley, and Medusa even though that adds a LOT to the entire point of Smash Bros. as a Nintendo history crossover fighter whatever you call it.
Sure, I may think too much about it. Not saying it actually have meanings, it's just a statement.
Also, for a Metroid interlude, with Ridley appearing as a boss character on the pyrosphere, and 3 legendary assist trophies (the Metroid, Mother Brain and Dark Samus), I think Sakurai is trying to compensate Metroid's lack of representation in previous games (though it was not that bad: two Ridley bosses, Kraid as a stage hazard...). That's the problem with Metroid: the lack of adaptable, unique, important characters. It's quite hard to find those 3 traits in Metroid Characters, except for Samus of course. (I do think Ridley is better as a boss, like Hades for example. But we are not here to debate if Ridley should be playable or not.)
That was the Metroid interlude :D
Edit: I'm still searching an idea for the thread's title. Sure it says who is Medusa, but I think it lack some punch.
Not to mention a particular uppercut...
