Stamping your library books.
I was reluctant to make this thread because I was sure someone else would, and I was sure most people would just lie. I know people will still lie, but why not.

So, anybody else get their scores back? I got a 180 (out of 240, for you older folks), with a 62 in critical reading, 65 in math, and 53 in writing. Not too bad, considering all of my classes (besides Spanish 3) are open-level, and I'm only in geometry.

I'm a junior, btw.

On the blue planet next to the sun, can't miss it!
There's already an ACT thread.

Anyway, I'd just take the PSAT without studying, just to see where you are knowledge wise, and then if you aren't satisfied with your score, then take it again.

I don't remember my score, but if I were you Zook, I'd practice writing, because it looks like that's the score that bit you in the ***.

Definitely don't take the PSAT "cold" (without studying) if you can help it. You can get scholarships based on your PSAT score (NMSQT); this is NOT the case with the SAT. So again, make sure to try and do as well as possible on the PSAT; it is NOT just a "practice SAT".

I got a 213 on the psat. I was a national merit semi finalist. What did I get for it? Nothing. You have to be a finalist to get any money, which is extremely hard, so I wouldn't even bother. Don't study for it.

Edit- On second though, it's possible that all the "Gold Crest" type applications that i have been offered (no fee, no essay, two week decision, etc) are a result of my good psat, so maybe you should study for it.

Edit#2- It's possible that I was just a "Commended Student" for the NMSQT thing. I don't really remember

I'm a freshman so this was my first year taking the PSAT. I got a 162 which I'm happy with considering I didn't study for it. I got 10 points higher than my older brother who's a junior and I did better than 94% of the sophmores on the math part.

And before somebody asks, my school is an exception for some reason with the PSAT. Everybody has to take it while my friends had a day off.

The ACT, and PSAT are pretty different in terms of WHY you take the test, so I really don't see a problem with this having it's own thread. I mean, I'm the guy who made the other one.......PLUS IT'S FREAKING ZOOK DUDE! Lol. I took the PSAT without studying at all, and I think(it's been awhile) I got a 176 and 86th percentile overall. Not too bad I guess. Oh, and don't you guys just hate when they bundle you into the cold buildings so early in the morning for these tests? I can't stand sitting freezing and alone in a strange highscool cafeteria for 3 hours.

Too late for me.

yeah, GoldShadow is absolutely right about the PSAT being helpful with scholarships. Although I didn't get any as a semi-finalist >:C

I'm always amazed by how intelligent the SWF community appears to be in real life. Or at least we're good test-takers.

I mean, would you expect me to get a 180?

I got a 230. Somehow I got a 74 in crit reading when I got 4 questions wrong and a 76 in writing when I got 1 question wrong. ???
Anyway, if 213 is good enough to get into national merit, that's good news for me!

But I disagree that you should not study for it. Study a lot. The PSAT is a reasoning test. Once you get used to SAT logic, the patterns become apparent and obvious. The only thing that is still confounding me is the reading but only because of its slightly subjective nature. w/e
The best thing for PSAT is to hone your logic, your attention span, and your focus. Vocab is not first priority.

I was thinking about taking it, but since I'm a freshman and already took the real SAT when I was twelve, I decided to just not take it till next year.

I took it as part of this Duke University thing, I really don't HAVE to take the SAT again since it could count as my official score (if I wanted I COULD apply to a college, but I really don't think they would take me since I'm still jsut a freshman in Hs.) but I probably will anyway.

Made a 1498 (or 96, not very sure about the last digit) on it when I took it. Twelve at the time, like I said before.

Lol, I got a 161. Nice number. I got a 32 on reading, 79 on math, and 50 on writing. Not the best, but I liked my math score.

Neither, because that score is impossible! SAT scores are multiples of 10! They all end in zero, eg 1430, 2190, 1150, etc.

Excluding the scores, I did the exact same thing.

jolly old england. hohoho.
So wait, do you guys just apply to colleges with SAT scores? I don't really understand the American system.

In England, we get A levels... much easier :bee:. The results are just A/B/C/D/E in the subjects you chose.

Last year I got 98th percentile. Never really cared about my scores though. Considering I was half asleep when I took it and I didn't know I was going to it was pretty good.
