Project Plus 3.0 Update is Out!

Earlier today, the Super Smash Bros. Brawl mod Project+ received its 3.0 update! As one would expect given the number change from 2.5.2 to 3.0, this update brought us a lot of major changes.

The 3.0 update includes:
  • A visual overhaul for the character select screen. It has this new glow effect that flows throughout the roster.
  • An option for players to change their port’s color, with 12 different options. This affects the HUD elements both in-game and on the CSS, as well as the player’s shield.
  • A redesign for the gameplay HUD.

  • An entirely new item, the Double Cherry from Super Mario 3D World. It clones any character who touches it, letting players control both the original character and the clone.
  • Many universal changes, including a fix for the infamous one frame physics delay in multiple situations. Perhaps most notably, the one frame physics delay no longer applies to wavedashing.
  • Event Mode has seen some touch-ups. The menu has new graphics and there’s new events as well.

  • Many stages have received adjustments. There’s also quite a few new alternate stages, such as Treasure Town from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and the Underground segment of Castle Siege.
  • There’s a new substage menu if you hold a shoulder button + start on certain stages. For example, holding L+Start over Castle Siege is how you’d select the Underground segment of Castle Siege.
  • New costumes for Sonic, R.O.B., Yoshi, Ivysaur, Zero Suit Samus and Pikachu. Pikachu and Zero Suit Samus also received complete model overhauls.
  • A plethora of balance changes were made to the cast, with nearly every character adjusted. The only exceptions were Mr. Game and Watch, Roy and Ness.
  • A new Stage Hazard Toggle option. On the stage selection screen, players can now hit the Z button to toggle hazards on or off. Additionally, there’s now an option to toggle which stages have hazards on and off by default in the random stage switch menu.

And that’s all essentially just the sparknotes versions of the changes. For a full list of changes, please check out Project+ 3.0’s official changelog here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oDmjgkXJebT0-R-x6DmcAkZZhaJPRgFqiGNkhgO8sNw/edit

Author’s Note: I think this is awesome, quite frankly. I’ve always wanted a stage hazard toggle like this, so seeing it in Project+ is very welcome. I’m also very stoked about Pikachu’s model revamp, as well as the new port color options and balance changes personally. But what about you? Please let us know what you think in the comments below!

Wheres Toy Link/Zelda? Just slap a skin for them on toon Link and Toon Zelda!
Project+ has explicitly stated that it's not going to do new characters. Toon Zelda does not exist in Project+, and full model swaps do not exist proper in P+ for readability reasons, though some are included as shoulder button alts.

I'm honestly surprised only Knuckles was added. Wasn't there rumors of other characters like Isaac and Sami were to be included?

Think that was from the original Project M (alongside Lyn). Dont recall Project + ever mentioning them although there is a build on github called Project M CC (Community Complete) that attempts to add them in a playable state & other cut content from when Project M ceased development (think a couple costumes at least too).
