on a side note - there should be a quality control team for BrawlVault
They said it wouldn't happen sadly. Trying to find a post saying why though.

We sometimes cry because of the kind of stuff we have to approve. :crying:
There's nothing we can do to stop them when they are not breaking any rules.

No, because that would be limiting on people's "right" to submit hacks.

Janky site stuff

Idk if it's just me, but after like Midnight til 3-4 in the morning the site gets weird for me. Also anytime a new post creates a new page, I can't check it/new page out. It bugs out as if the post was never made or that the new page isn't ready. Then when another person replies it will finally show the new post and then whoever replied after. It's really lame

Wait this site or smashmods? If smashboards is haunted by a forum poltergeist then smashmods is mother Iking ghastly with it's delayed posts on threads that have more than a hundred or so posts

Oh thank god. So many times I've wished that I had a place to rant about terrible stuff that I found there.

Look what someone just did to my new PS1 texture that I posted a few days ago: http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=29936&Moderated=All&facebook=true

Smashmods

Smashboards is usually pretty good, especially after MLG took over the site.

Links like that make me think there are more furry freaks out there then I care to know.
I just tell myself they're doing it ironically.

Sure, I'm projecting, but I prefer that to the harsh reality that people are sick ****s.

I'm going to ignore everything posted in the last... 50 posts or so? (except for 9Kplus1, thank you) and ask something that's been bugging me for a while. I'm sure this must seem like a really stupid question to most of you, but... what exactly is the timing for L-canceling? Right before you land, right when you land, or...? And how would you recommend I practice it? The character flashes white when L-canceling successfully, but it's only noticeable on aerials with HUGE landing lag, like Ganon's dair.

A lot of recognizing when you've l-canceled successfully is experience. Just keep practicing it, and you'll begin to notice the difference.

As for how to practice, the best advice I've seen is to play against low level CPU IC's and just use short hop aerials. The unpredictability of how much lag you'll encounter will force you to learn how to adapt in real time.

Right before you land if the aerial is still active. I recommend using buffer until you habitually L-cancel after an aerial. If that doesn't suit you, then just go into Training mode, set the camera to zoom and slow down the speed to 1/4, gradually increasing it once your L-cancelling becomes more consistent. This helps you understand exactly when you have to press L, R, or whatever button you use to L-cancel as well as how and when your character will land -- with and without fastfalling -- since landing detection can make some moves a bit odd to L-cancel. Once you have a hold on L-cancelling with your own character, feel free to try getting a feel for other characters' L-cancel timings. It's highly beneficial to develop an adaptive nature in this game, and being able to smoothly transition from character to character does just that.

Personally, I learned how to consistently L-cancel with my main through means of using the CPU as a sandbag and practicing with people willing to deal with my scrubbishness. Learning how to L-cancel after hitlag is more important imo, and it gave me, at least, a tight enough grip on my character to be able to do it without hitting anything; coincidentally, it also made me more aware of the stats and frame data of my main's moveset.

Now see, that's the thing. As I've discussed before, my brain simply doesn't work fast enough to play with frames in mind, especially when (99% of the time) there's no graphical indicator for if I'm even doing it right. The only move I can even attempt to L-cancel with visual aid (at least from my gameplay experience) is the aforementioned Ganon dair, as the landing lag is severe enough to make the white flash obvious.
(If any P:M developers are reading) Is there a way that I could go into Brawlbox/PSA and add a more obvious graphical indicator or (even better) a sound indicator for L-canceling, or is L-canceling purely handled by codes?

If you can get the game to yell "ROMANTIC!" every time a character L-Cancels, I will hug you.

The difference between the landing lag of an l-cancelled aerial and one that isn't is what he's talking about, Kink. The flash is almost instantaneous and sometimes isn't enough to differentiate the two -- or rather, it's not enough of an indicator to some that they just cut the landing lag of an aerial in half. P:M -- Melee -- is a fast paced game and there usually isn't enough time to think about whether or not the aerial one used was L-cancelled.

Is flat-out incorrect.

Try to first L-Cancel moves with reasonable lag in training, and work your way down the lag with different moves (like from Ganon's DAir to something like Mario's Nair, and even further).
I understand in what kind of predicament you are, but the current visual aid Project M has on L-Cancelling is enough for people like you and me to learn how to L-Cancel better.

Two things to take into account:

1. You can fast fall/not fast fall aerials to change up how quickly you land. Experiment with that and L canceling to find timings that feel good. Or say you play a character like Falcon Fox etc. Nice low shuffle. Try doing a quick SH Nair, fast fall it over and over, and get used to the L cancel timing. Then don't fast fall, or delay when you use the move. The key basically is more about knowing when you are gonna touch the ground

2. Hitting people/shields gives you hitlag and can throw off your timing. Ganon Dair is a good example, strong Knee from Falcon another. Get used to how much these add and compensate.

Are you mad about it or something?
NOPE

The proper term is "phurphags", not "furry freaks" you ignorant ****. They're no freakier than weridos with a vagina fetish.

My advice Leaf is get use to pressing R or L, whichever you prefer almost everytime you touch the ground.

As you get better you will realize that almost everytime you land on the ground you will want to press L/R.

If your in Tumble pressing L with cause you to tech. If you are performing a aerial you will L-cancel. And if your doing nothing you'll likely want to waveland.

Its the way I learned it. Just get your mind into the idea of pressing l/r everytime you land on the ground. Before you know it it will become second nature to you.
