I kind of want to play MK, to be honest. I wanna see how he's going to translate into P:M's engine, and how creative the developers are in redesigning his moveset.

Kind of a spit in the face to the workers of Project M when the game isn't even near finished, especially when saying its "embarrassingly worse" than Brawl of all games.
9K is right. It's so embarrassing that Project M in its unfinished form is the most popular console mod of all time, and the most popular thread by a mile in the Brawl discussion forums.

i'm embarrassed just posting in here.

I can't think of any other multiplayer games at the moment that are so embarrassingly worse than their predecessors to make another remark like that. Please hold.
Halo: Reach, Halo 4, every CoD following CoD2, every SC game following SC2, Pokemon FRLG, every multiplayer Bomberman game following Bomberman 64, Project:M, DBZ: Burst Limit, DBZ Ultimate Tenkaichi, DBZ Kinect, DBZ RB2, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, and every Metroid game following MPH.

Out of curiosity, which character that has NOT been announced for Demo 2.5 (Yoshi, Samus, ZSS, Diddy, MK, Olimar, ICs, and Kirby) are you guys looking forward to most and why?
Yoshi, because I'm really curious to see how they buff him. He's been a barely-viable mid tier every game, and I wanna see how P:M makes him compete. Plus he's so fun to play. Who doesn't love Yoshi?

Bees and butterflies also dislike Yoshi. I mean, who could ever like, let alone love a multicolor asexually reproducing dino that chomps down on their brethren for alternately colored coins?

I really hope yoshi's gets some nutty new ways to do his up-b. His edgeguards were too cool in melee, and making then even crazier is the only option.

Most eggcellent.

On the topic of Yoshi and possible buffs, here's my attempt at somethin for him from smashmods:

Like somebody said before, Yoshi's standard moves just need to be link-ifyed (adjust speed/%, etc), but I could see his specials all getting some work.

Egg Throw:
Keep the hop from brawl, and buff the explosion radius by a bit when it goes off. The explosion itself should act more like tink's bombs and hit 2x for 5%, with the second hit having some KB.

Egg Lay:
Increase range on the tounge to like, 1.5x its current length/length of his grab. On top of this, when he poops out an egg it should be at a diagonally downward angle so its always on the ground, and alternatively makes it a little scary if you catch somebody offstage. Lastly, when the egg breaks, give it the same hitbox as his egg toss to allow him to keep up the damage. This is his signature move, it should be Damn good lol.

Egg Roll:
Side B should be altered a good deal, but keep one aspect of it's melee self: the hop. In melee, when done in the air he boosted forward slightly. Expanding on that, how about making the roll similar to Sonic's side b in that it is a "hop" forward while in a rolling egg, but the move now ends after touching ground or jumping instead of continually rolling. On top of that, the initial hop should have super/heavy armor due to him essentially shielding himself, and allowing Yoshi to use the move to plow through basic attacks with the burst. Otherwise the move should remain the same in terms of %/KB, but add the ability to jump out of it at some point.

If Yoshi does not jump out, he will be stuck in the egg roll till he hits ground, allowing him to perform a recovery tactic of side b-jump-(eggthrows)-side b again instead of just relying on his double jump.

Yoshi Bomb:
I have a few thoughts on this move, bit in general I feel as though it should keep the brawl "launch" hitbox from the ground that combos to the drop, as well as maybe increased power.

1) When Yoshi uses this from the ground, give the leap the same heavy armor he has on his double jump. This will turn the move into a pseudo-counter at lower%, allowing Yoshi to punish poor spacing against him by trucking through a move and bombing the for thanks to the launcher hitbox.

2) When Yoshi spins before slamming down, give it a hitbox similar to say, kirbys brawl Nair. This could allow aerial down b to become a sort of anti-combo tool as he knocks people away, then plummets to the relative safety of the ground.

3) When Yoshi lands, buff the stars that POP out in some manner. Probably the weirdest of the options, but turning those into something useful could give use to doing a SH bomb, lol. Or, just make being near Yoshi when he drops a bit riskier.

4) Give Yoshi his DJ armor while dropping down. Straightforward, allows it to just be more threatening.

Any one of these would be cool imo.

General:
Make Yoshi's head intangible/invincible during the start up of his shield animation. He can't shield projectiles because of that, and its dumb. Speaking of shield, is it possible to give Yoshi much more shield HP? That could make his normally "bad" shield worthwhile as it not only prevents pokes, but can take more abuse in general in exchange for its normal drawbacks.

Thoughts?

I highly doubt Utilt to Usmash to Uair is a true combo, utilt to utilt likely is though. If anything he should be able to jump or airdodge out of it, at least I would think.

If nothing else go to training and test it out. See if it registers 5 consecutive hits. If it does then only DI can possibly save you. If it doesn't that means he can act and try to do something to avoid it, like jump.

Anything to Uair isn't really a combo with Dedede but the move is so massive and long-lasting that it can reliably trump most Dairs.

Because who needs combos when you can just beat nearly everything your opponent does?

in late but +1 on Soul Calibur 2 being better than the games that followed it. probably has the best character balance thus far too, not sure about 5 but i know it was more balanced than 3 and 4

to paraphase Zero Punctuation, it defninately had a few flaws, the biggest of which was imo the overly good block/GI system (GI even works on grabs WTF?????), but the attempts to correct those flaws in the sequels was akin to removing flecks of dirt from birthday cake with a shovel.

also i'm actually curious about Metaknight, surely he will still be a great character? ala fox and falco?

The imagery of a cake being massacred by a shovel is quite humorous to me

It will be difficult to bring Metaknight down below them. He'll either still be the best character in the game, or he'll be remarkably changed. I'm guessing it'll probably be the latter, but even then, I think he'll still be a really powerful character.

EDIT: You know what ganon needs? more Canon moves (aside from Flame Choke). i actually played with someone (a very first timer) who is a massive legend of zelda fan (OoT specifically) and was beside himself that he was gonna get to play as Ganondorf in Melee.

so we started a round and the first thing he asked me was how to do Ganondorf's energy ball attack. "he doesn't have it" i replied. so the kid goes "why not? okay does he have the massive energy attack? the shock wave? why is he punching? wait you're playing falcon, why are we doing the same moves? this game is stupid, do you have mario kart?" i literally had to talk him into trying link, who he liked much better, but talked my youngest sister into putting in mario kart right after.

it's not like he was any good, but he did say he was never going to play it again since "they got Ganondorf wrong"

true story, not like i expect you guys to change ganon since "he's fine" (in fact you can't even make new projectiles right? something about articles) but i found it an interesting experience.
