What do people think of Luigi? He seems to be a character that doesn't get much attention because he's a Melee veteran and because his changes aren't radical.

Some of his changes feel worse. His Fsmash in Brawl was ridiculous! Now it's... idk average.

whoa kink! let him do his job. if he really wants to confront his senpai let him do so on his own accord.

edit: luigi is a sleeper. he'll probably surprise us when someone shows us how good he is, but even then he's still as bad as

Luigi's d-tilt sucks, I think Eli and others might of said "no it's not"..are you referring to the nice sound or is it actually a good move?

Out of curiosity what is the BRoom concensus as far as the ultimate evolution of PM? I mean are you guys aiming for more aggressive than melee, less, or about the same? It seems like characters designed around keeping people out and slowing the pace of games down, ie. Zelda, D3, Bowser, might make things shift even more towards defense than melee. I mean I guess what I am asking is, would you ultimately want a game in which top aggressive players like Mango will be able to have an edge over defensive players, or are you looking to create an environment that promotes more defensive strategies? So really do you guys generally feel melee was just right in offense vs. defense or would you tilt the scales on either side?
@ SpiderMad, Thats not what I meant. I wanted the opinions of the dev's if they are avaliable or of the people who post here. Its is very difficult to call anything perfectly balanced, especially in a game with as many characters, matchups, and other variables such as stages. I just wanted to hear people's thoughts on the matter.

Wow, Luigi's DTilt does 15% when fresh and still works as a reset on Falco at > 150%. That's pretty amazing.

By the way, one small request - I know the PMBR is probably busy working on the next release, but could the AI in Training Mode for "Jump" be changed so that it jumps out of hitstun on the first available frame? This would make it a lot easier to test out chain grabs.

Speaking of Training Mode, I finally got around to testing a combo Magus brought up when 2.0 came out. For Ike, shffl' NAir -> QD USmash works on Falco (with no DI) from 67% to 109%. QD has to be slightly charged starting around 95%. I don't know how practical this is in a real match, but Ike looks like a ****** when he zooms across the stage for the USmash kill.

Ditto for Ike x100∞

@Kink probably not

Computer AI improvement is one of the most awesome things I'm looking forward to, I don't often play computers but when I do I appreciate that AI even exists for smash.

You don't think he could stand to have a better dash dance, OoS options, or better option for covering his blind spot right below him?
OOS Up-air. blind spot below him= FFall Up-air, has hitbox occupying his entire torso, also pulls in his leg hurtboxes

Hey Metroid you know how you like doing QDAutocancel Bair? QD/non-QD Autocancel FH Dair is just as awesome, I'm starting to spam that, the Dair hangs forever and when the hitbox is gone it's only a few more frames for the auto-cancel. With the amount of speed Ike can get the distance the lingering hitbox covers is sweet and when it hits you got yourself a quick autocancel or a DJ to any other aerial

Hits on frame 9, above him, and takes 5 frames of jump squat before he can use it. Grab is like, literally twice as fast as an OoS option lol. Or are you mostly joking? It's hard to tell because you're so abrasive like sand paper.
You captured my online persona perfectly lol.

Well like you listed his great Grab OOS is also above average range. There's also the obvious Bair OOS, super good got hitboxes all over himself and faster. but for OOS option that isn't entirely for escaping pressure but for something that's more of a distance wise punish Up-air hits all over the place especially if they are jumping back in the air to do another aerial or going on a platform (Inertia'd bairs can cover a lot of these too but for how close Up-air still fills these options just as fine it's a nice alternative/un-staled option).

And like "Above him" is only semi-true when his torso (not abdomen) has a hitbox and his legs are pulled in.

On what frame does Ike's counter become active? that might be a OoS option. Does his roll really suck?

I like the idea of ike having a weak oos game, he needs to have some weaknesses. So I've been wondering, are there plans to change the name when the final version is released? Are you guys gonna just call it melee 2? Also when will guys start production of project brawl? Lol.

Less ******** grab hitbox please.

Or at least make a small claw shot shoot upwards out of Link's back so what you see more closely matches the hitbox.
But then we would have to give every character hands on their backs because most(all?) have hit boxes behind them when grabbing.

I spot dodge it and grabs me anyway sometimes. Is that common? I think it's cause it's active for so long and hitbox just gets longer the further the clawshot goes.

Depends on how meaty your spot dodge is. Fox, Mario, and all other characters with a "standard" side step have a small invincibility window, and a smaller cool down, Wolf and the sort of other "slow" side steps have better active frames to dodge slow grabs, but more cool down that makes them bad against jab fakes and faster grabs.

Who said Luigi sucks? Who said Pit is bad/annoying? What is going on in the world today....

First off Pit's not annoying if you play vs a manly pit and not Gurukid.

second. Luigi is good, significantly better although I think the loss of his super slippy ways makes him easier to use but...he loses some of his mindgame ability just a tad. Not to mention I can't seem to sweetspot with the side-B for ****. However he's alot better overall. I just think the problem is he's not significantly easier to play. Him and Pikachu are in the same boat I feel. They are both overall better but if you didn't know how to use them well before you'll likely suck balls with them still.
