It's a pretty depressing situation and all, considering that M2K has finally been earning back his rep and then does something completely out of this world.

Knowing that he's not financially stable, he's emotionally fragile, and no one in person is really there to comfort him irl except PBnJ who's not exactly the best source of comfort makes it all the more depressing. But you can't really defend him because he did something really, really stupid, which makes it even worse.

I'm starting to see a lot more Project M resentment on Smashboards lately. Take a look at this:

I sort of feel the same. People being like "WHY DOES EVERY CHARACTER NOT HAVE AN ALTERNATE COSTUME," and then Project M shows off a costume and people like "MY GOD, IT'S SO PRETTY! SAKURAI, TAKE NOTES!" Those people get on my nerves.

I mean come on, guys, you don't gotta defend every baby Sakurai plops out. Hope the PMBR ignores the haters and keeps givin' the people what they want.

It's more or less a vocal minority responding to another vocal minority resulting in a **** fest. It always happens when anything becomes popular, so it's nothing surprising.

Mhm. Just think, if / when the PMBR adds a highly requested newcomer not present in Smash 4, the smashboards popcorn is going to be even more buttery. Yum!

You mean salty? Also to provide context/explain my quote a little better, I just don't like that some (probably an extreme minority) people are going to ignore Smash 4 because Project M exists. I appreciate the hard work put into this mod, but it really bothers me that some may pass up Smash 4 because of it. Isn't that the opposite of what the team wants?

That's their choice. If people want to play Project M over Smash 4, let them. They aren't automatically bigoted and ignorant people simply because they prefer one game over the other, though the two can sometimes go together. You should never push people to play another game. People will naturally find games that they enjoy, and if people flock to one thing more than the other, then whatever, it happens.

Forcing people who might not be interested in Smash 4 to play the game would actually be worst, lmao. At least this way the game and its players won't get nearly as **** on as Brawl was.

The only problem is that too many noobs get the Pm hive mind, and start bandwagon hating smash 4. Like the other day some kid told me smash 4 is too slow because it doesn't have wavedashing, and that he wasn't going to get it for this reason. Just stupid comments like that start to annoy people after awhile, but they also have to understand that smash 4 is super similar to brawl. So if you didn't like Brawl you probably aren't going to like smash 4.

But Smash 4 is super fun right now so I think players should give it a legit chance before they dismiss it.

It's kind of weird. I've met a lot of people, and they say they hate the living **** out of Melee and looove Brawl. But then I show them Project M, and then a month later they tell me that Melee is the best thing since sliced bread and Brawl is an atrocity. I've done this to about 20 people who all play Brawl casually and all of them gave me this response. Every single one.

Smash 4 is unlike Brawl in all the ways that matter (to me). I couldn't be happier with how it's shaping up, and I can't wait to get my hands on the finished product.

I honestly feel the same way. The lack of recovery cancellation sucks as always but the game's speed boost and responsiveness is such an upgrade from Brawl that I feel it's going to be both fun and competitively viable. Hopefully the roster is very balanced; my understanding is that Sakarai takes char. balance more seriously than he's given credit for.

Smash 4 will pretty much be like Brawl, but without the bull****. Which isn't exactly a bad thing.

Maybe, maybe not. What impacts the game more are the other general ledge mechanics: losing invincibility after 1st grab for example is game changing.

I played the Smash 3DS version and out of all my friends interested in the game I think I'm the only one who disliked it. It's not really the game, so much as the 3DS control scheme, I'll probably like the Wii U version tons more. The game looks like it'll be tons of fun to play with fiends though, I can foresee drunken Smash 4 free-for-alls with items being the best thing since Brawl Ganon with items.
