you're genuinely offended that I think america is bad

there is a situation where a small town is having rifles aimed at them from their own police force because of a fear-mongering cop, I am pretty rightfully disgusted at this fact, and all you've apparently gotten out of me is "boo america"

you're why this has been gotten away with so many times

Saint louis isn't exactly small >_>. Also, it's weird seeing everyone talk about this when it's happening like 5 minutes down the street from me.

One thing people often fail to understand in a situation like this is that in most cities you have to organize protests in advance and communicate with local authorities so that they can prepare for it: divert traffic, commit police to keep protesters safe and maintain order, etc.

A police officer shooting an unarmed civilian, of any background, is unacceptable and people should be upset by it. They should protest. However, the police also have to do their jobs. If the city requires protesters to get a permit and they don't then it doesn't matter how justified the protest is, the police are going to make them disperse, even if that means doing it by force.

Now that's not to say people shouldn't protest if their local government tells them they can't. They just need to go in to it with the knowledge that there will be people trying to stop them, not out of malice, but out of duty.

I wish I had the diagram that showed armored vehicle purchases by state but twitter's been a million miles an hour. all I remember from it is that cali (my metric, being that it's the massive state) was on the smaller side compared to the, er, more obsessive states. oklahoma has the highest number, despite being a fraction of cali's size.

you all go in really hard on weaponizing your police forces. I know canada kinda does it but, even now, canada's like 1/10th of an america on that end

This seems like the result of the police not trusting the public because the public didn't trust the police. They don't want the news to get out, because the reaction to the news causes more problems for what they're trying to do ("calm down" all the (rightfully) angry people). The reason this drastic action is being taken is because at this point, they view the people that this news affects this the most as kind of a mindless mob (considering the looting, shooting, etc...) and they don't want any bad publicity making it worse. It kind of sucks, because the police were in the wrong in the first place, but then instead of peaceful protest, the public sort of dishonored the death of the kid by using it as sort of an excuse to be violent (or at least it sure as hell seems that way). By the way, that is what these riots are about, right? Or was it some other person in an ethnic minority that was killed? It sounds insensitive, but it happens so much all around the world I'm beginning to lose track of which outrage connects to which incident.

Anyway, people don't seem to remember that violence begets violence, and that positive change has always come from calm, educated, and reasonable sources. It really is sad to see that the justice here in America has failed again, only this time the result of that failure is much worse.

Maybe its just the news is covering more of the violence, but it certainly seems like the world is a bit on the crispy side right now.

Yeah I'm confused/out of the news too. I'm sure it's worth making my precious posts located on the prior page though.

You guys

I don't even watch the news and even I know these Ferguson Riots started because the local police killed an unarmed black man.
The police force is going through extreme means to prevent this from spreading even arresting members of the press, but...

Uh
What is everyone talking about with these tweets and instagrams
It's the Streisand Effect in play.

Good thing these tweets are going viral.

Project M State of Affairs thread.

The literal worst variant of the Project M social thread.

I'd even rather have school girl ivysaur than this.

I tend to be somewhat oblivious of things that don't happen in the country that I'm in and don't directly affect me.

I vastly prefer this than talking about waifus so I'm okay with it.

TBH I'm surprised no one is talking about the hitstun viewer and how big it is for practicing combos and studying frame advance.
Guess only a few will be the ones to make good use of it. I plan on being the 1% that uses the feature. XD

People thought he was otherwise?

Can this be the Project Moe thread again? politics r scary.
And avoiding dealing with them is the root of the problem.

Pretty saddening that this level racism is still happening...

America really needs to get it together.
America's vocal minority(
) =/= America.

This seems like the result of the police not trusting the public because the public didn't trust the police.
That is wise nowadays.

Just give me debug mode already.

Then I can use it for PM and Brawl.

Also while on the topic of politics, Isis in Iraq is beheading children and sawing them up.

I'm genuinely offended that mocking garbage like "I'm-a so, so scared of going to America from my comfortable living room because......da Police State!" is what passes for intelligent social commentary from many people. The same dumb joke repeated multiple times too. It's just too stupid not to be a joke.

Conflating a bunch of issues together into one big ball of hate (while also pretending police power isn't a global issue) when real people of all shades are suffering, in a more complex situation then you care to realize, is both brainless and insulting.

Advice for the future: make a point first instead of burying the lead in your hovel.

I used to go to Disney in Orlando and Busch Gardens with my family. I once rode Kumba in the rain, and that kinda hurts, since the rain's hitting you whlist you're traveling so quickly.

Back when I lived in Japan, there was an amusement park themed around Thomas the Tank Engine, and their small Thomas roller coaster was the first one I ever rode. I threw up and swore never to go on a roller coaster ever gain.

Ever rode the Ninja at Six Flags over Georgia? My head was playing paddle ball with the seat. The seat being the paddle, the ball being my damn skull. I swear bruh, **** nearly gave me a minor concussion.

you've dodged my question

do you realize why the trigger-happy machos your country grew seem to only ever kill black at first suspection

or, for that matter, how they always never get prosecuted for it, if they go to court at all

e: or, once more, why those same trigger-happy machos seem to need a massive amount of armored vehicles, of which southern states of relatively small populations have some of the most
Bro.

Cool it. We live here and have prolly never seen violence either.

And yes racism here is messed up. When did that start?

Because this junk didn't happen here in the 90's.
