I think we've already established Alakaslam is not completely sane
What were you expecting
Skill lies with this one; none were more surprised than I to discover that CHUPAZI is actually Swahili

Besides I am surprised also that no one tried kawakana saga, etc- but rather attempted the orient.

It is impressive, I give thee skill points for such as this is greater thought than mine

"check your privilege" is a pretty literal term and I'm kind of surprised people still get tripped up about what it means to think it's a funny social justice term or s/t
I've always taken it to be a spin-off of the famous threatening line, "Check yourself, before you wreck yourself!"

I have yet to find an explanation for the name-change. Curious as to whether there's a reason or if it's just a mid development crisis thing.

Developer team is more professional than some schmucks in a back room.

I liked them better as schmucks though. ;_;

I think its because back room carries implication that they are going to be making tierlists and rulesets, which they wont. The name change is distancing them from expectations like those so theres no misundrerstandings.

$3.53

As for eristic illusion I am not one for Tao Buddhist stuffs; I am one for enigmatic bad code.

Yes though more wisdom in the correlation, as I seek to hide the order within chaos

I vote myself as Back Room
Nah I desire no back room. I give the back room my spitteth, I do so upon it.

Nay I desire an upper room, a 15th floor, a corporate office- for there one can hide in the cubicles

a "we post at work club" is not what I mean

Can we vote on this.

I'm casting my vote for PMBRDT(6), or Pumbert(7) for short(CHUPAZI).
Shameless for to edit post I am

I love how there is blatant fallacy in your true statement; that pumbert (more type time) is still shorter than PMBRDT (longer to say) and had to capitalize. Apologies for pedantry comrade-izm

This is why you'll never be accepted into the pumbert

All of us get to be PMBR now
How about everyone that frequents the PM boards gets a banner that says "Project M front room".
And then the top PM competitive players get a banner that says "Project M showroom".

Edit: And then casuals get "Project M living room".:awesome:

Precision!

And I desire to be spurned there is that too.

See I am very argumentative & hostile with my great spreading of foolishness; even such that if I were to inform that I mean well I am disbelieved- thusly I quit informing.

Pedantically, I must say that eristic illusion is either Tao Buddhist or simply "wrangling illusion" since you can't exactly wrangle with an illusion (see: mirage disappears before you reach it) I assumed Tao bhuddism for the exotics

today I was thinking about a buncha stuff, and I always end up thinking about "why do I dislike this thing" (because I am a bitter old man). I ended up thinkin a lot about pokemon.

the game spends so much time telling you every pokemon is great and important in their own way... and then always turns back on it. every pokemon is fantastic, except also each pokemon has a hidden stat that you can't directly control, you can only breed better and better stats until you have a box full of wasted space, and the one final pokemon with good IVs you actually care about

every pokemon is special, except there's always going to be shinies and shinies are, from a subjective POV, always better because they're aesthetically different and rare

every pokemon is important, except at the end of the day the game quite literally not only lets you pick god himself, but lets you choose any type in the game for god

pokemon contradicts itself by being pokemon, the pokemon that tries to tell me "the best trainer only wins with the pokemon that they love" also wants me to grind heavily and breed over and over to get anything strong enough to play against others

thank god for pokeshowdown I guess?

i never understood why, with their enourmous budget/staff, gamefreak couldn't make multiple skins for each pokemon.

no two spidna's are supposed to look alike

There're two sides to Pokemon, just like all potentially competitive games.

There's the story mode, where they're saying the Pokemon you invest exp. into will become strong no matter who they are. They're right, you can use pretty much any combination to beat the game. People legitimately believing that every character in Smash is just as good as every other one because they never delve any deeper into the game further than story mode.
Then there's the competitive mode, where some things just have higher numbers.

tbh i think competitive pokemon is pretty stupid

it seems like you're entire objective is to counter the meta

and hax???????? really????? brawl gets a **** ton of flack for having tripping, but hax in pokemon????? so anticompetitive.

anything so heavily influenced by leaps of faith based on success/failure percentages is gambling, not competition

and there's no counterpick system! the meta is the counterpick system

wtf!

The thing I always find uncomfortable about Pokémon is how you supposedly love them like equal partners in a sports competition but you really have them fighting alone in these brutal near-death matches where you shout orders and they must obey because you domesticated them.

Game Freak trys to justify this by saying "Pokémon love to fight!" when in real life dogs are more than happy to fight each other with vicious bites but that doesn't mean it's ok does it?

And that's why I want any pokemon game that doesn't follow the normal conventions of Pokemon games.

Assuming pokemon were real, connections would go past just which one preforms the best for a lot of people. Not everyone of course.

Game mechanics and what not, so they have to listen.

Near death is debatable since most of the time it's not near death. I think only one instance in the anime actually had near death.

I don't want to start ranting about what essentially is assumptions about how the actual pokemon world would work.

Manga tells a different story:

Before you say it doesn't count, despite having game characters in it, you yourself mentioned the anime which also has them fighting over lava and coming damn close to melting away. Not to mention all those other trainers we never saw losing Pokémon in those crazy arenas.

Didn't that same specific arbok regenerate?

Even still, the manga tells a darker story.
When ISN'T someone dying in there? I wouldn't say that's how the gym leaders or majority of trainers would act, but they definitely have the potential for stuff like that.

I could see people like the evil teams of each generation going to those lengths but like I said I don't think the elite four, or the gym leaders would act how they do in the manga.

Sure, but the gyms even in the games are designed specifically to discourage just any random trainer from walking in off the street with bottomless pits, icy ground and lava moats.

If your not prepared for all these deathtraps you could possibly die along with your Pokémon.

It's a different world.

People gotta be more prepared and a lot smarter than normal.

Just think of surviving your pokemon journey as a form of natural selection. :troll:

pokemon gyms are piss easy to navigate as long as you have fly. Who cares about lava mazes when you can fly over them.

too bad the games don't reflect this.

So I just finished the glorious serial Worm, roughly 22 novels worth of material. I don't know what to do, so much free time just opened up.

I should finished CowBoy Bebop, stopped after ep. 17 because life happened. Maybe I'll watch Free or just read some of my piles of books I'm stockpiling.

So school is starting in two days for me.
Time for the age old sudden burst of confidence of not getting distracted or committting the same mistakes I made last year only to watch me stumble into laziness 1 month or two later

Before having to subject myself to that though, Im gonna try to finish watching Sakuraso no Pet na Kanojo.... I don't know what I have for these comedy/slice of life animes but I seem to enjoy them... :/

lol /r/photoshopbattles why
What is this I don't even...

The dissonance in the Pokemon franchise, not just from a gameplay vs. narrative perspective, but within the narrative itself is extremely bad.

This issue really came to a head with Black and White. Yeah, Team Plasma were assholes but the protagonist's side of the argument (which was obviously Game Freak's skewed bias to begin with) in trying to sell how Pokemon fighting is good within their universe was poorly handled and made me even more convinced that Pokemon fighting truly is no better then modern day Dog-fighting.

Near death is debatable since most of the time it's not near death. I think only one instance in the anime actually had near death.
To my understanding, the Japanese term for when a Pokemon faints translates to near death. Also, I thought an NPC somewhere mentioning his pokemon dying from battle, but I have no source and may very well have never happened.
