Is that thing a joke? Because the results are completely stupid.

If your a rich Investment Banker Plutocrat from say the Middle East your score is negative 600, just because of where your from and your race and religion. Makes zero sense when everyone around you shares the same racial and religious make up.

The creator of that thing didn't properly check their own Western-minded privilege.

"check your privilege" is a pretty literal term and I'm kind of surprised people still get tripped up about what it means to think it's a funny social justice term or s/t

in general though "western-minded" explains far too much of a lot of newest-age activism. like how everyone in anime, a japan-created concept largely centered around or in japan, is considered white to them

Oddly enough, anime is actually of French origin, as is its' namesake. The orient definitely revolutionized the style, but the first actual anime was French IIRC.

Edit: This isn't for tournaments by the way. Those are fine, I bring friends, and the age range is wider. The Issue is that tournaments are few, and I want to attend smashfests. That is where the problem manifests itself.
When I got into the scene, I was 14. (so about 10 months ago) You're going to have to tell some small white lies, that's what worked for me and the community ended up gaining my parents' trust in the end.

If you wanna go to a Smashfest, say that the host is someone you met and played with at a few tourneys. If your parents ask if the person lives with themselves or with parents, always say parents. What my dad used to do when he drove me to a new Smashfest for the first or second time is carry my CRT for me, this way he had a more legit reason to see the inside of wherever I was playing and to meet anyone there, including the host. Just check in with them throughout the night about thrice.

After going to the same Smashfest for a little while, I told my parents that there was another one happening but at a different location and with different people, but friends from the first Smashfest series would be there. (though this was true in my case) Dad drove me, carried my CRT inside the first time, then left me be. I attended both of those for a little while with a tourney in between. A few weeks after the second Smashfest, I had a small one of my own with about 4 other people that I really befriended in the community. They came over, met both my mom and dad, and we played the rest of the night. After that, I think my parents fully trusted the community. Now I even get rides to fests/tourneys from my Smash friends.

@Lizalfos Give up the whole smashfest thing and just find a small group of people to play with. In our state, the upstate part, fests are few and far in between. When we do host, we have bear, fenir, tommy, myself and a few others. That's half the top 10 in SC already. Manny and I play a few times a week. We are the only other players besides you, and the 2 or 3 people that you play with, that are actually free to play, on a regular bases. Everyone else is too busy or have schedules that don't allow for planning in advance. I say all this, because I know everyone in the upstate and what kinda schedules they have. There are like 2 people, aside from Manny and myself, that would also be available to play, but they are the type of people who rage so hard, it will make you uncomfortable. And since you live with your parents, and they seem to be a bit on the protective side, they would call the cops.

I seem to be in the same bind as lizalfos, Its true that sometimes you are stuck with no other options but to be stuck at home beating up CPUs instead of participating in tourneys/fests.

I went to exactly 2 tournaments 3 years ago when I was a brawl player and they were fun, but the limitations I had as a 13 year old at the time showed up in my ability to get my parents support in bringing me about moderately long distances and I decided to quit smash for three years.2 months ago I gained interest and ever since then I downloaded PM and started honing my tech skill by my own against CPUs, but I feel all will be in vain until 2 years from now when I turn 18 and become legally allowed to drive a car by my own.

This is how I train for Skullgirls. And it seems to work for me. I guess when you train with CPUs, it really depends on how you are playing and what you can do. With CPUs I generally take it as "okay, this is what happens if they are idling, but what can I do outside the box to get that KO?"

It's not as good when I get to train with friends, but it really helps you get to know what your character can do against other characters and it passes the time while allowing you to make sure you don't get rusty.

So I accidentally created a meme for PM in my local smash scene and now it's part of our lingo. It's a weird feeling.

And you don't even say what it was.
Sorry about that. Pretty much with all of the dirt characters have and such in PM I pretty much start calling it grime. It started from the Bane quote from TDKR(The Dark Knight Rises) but replace some words with grime when I was talking to some dudes in my area on Facebook.

Ah you think grime is your ally? You merely adopted the grime. I was born into the grime, molded by it.

When I meant by that when I said it is there is so much dirt that alot characters have that if you don't know what it is or how to deal with it, you gonna be bopped pretty fast on top of that with some combos in the game and footstool setups. Because of this you learn how to control the grime and don't let it control you cause alot of my scene are big melee heads and I have to inform them on alot of stuff as to why this work or why this character can do this or that.

With the way I worded it in person and such it's just took off and people start calling me GrimeGenie on the side and one of our top melee players JBM start learning Mewtwo after I told him and other people to learn other characters so you can understand the new matchups and he told me "Yo Genie Mewtwo is super grimey and the most fun I have with a smash character, I'mma learn him". I told him afterwards once you learn all of the fancy stuff with Mewtwo and his combos especially with fastfallers your world will open like the Matrix.

Yesterday JBM, I, Our local streamers in Omaha Twice the Tyler and another guy named F-Tilt went down to a local in Lincoln and the PM conversation came up again and making up jokes about the word grime with the Pokemon Grimer and Muk as well as talking about Yuyu Hakasho, DBZ and Naruto along with other anime/manga and on the way back it was like 30-40 minutes talking about my quote and busting my balls about it and our crew battle with South Dakota till I got home. That's kinda the short end of it I guess.

Kawakanasaga is a better meme than grime

Everyone stuff that doesn't translate well with Melee is now kawakanasaga!

Very original

Such hard to say
カワカナサガ isn't even a real

The word anime is short for animeeshon which is japanized english for animation.

It's just the team wanting to differentiate those who develop the actual game, and those who know about things and play test (which is a larger group, the PMBR)
Late so I might have been ninja'd (can't keep up with this thread anymore dude), but no, the "PMBR" in its entirely is now known as the PM Dev Team.

Freaking this. There was this fest I was planning to go to, and my parents asked if they'd have parents there. I said no. I know that our parents want to keep us safe, but the host was a 14 year old kid, same age as me. I dunno what my parents think would happen at a large social gathering like that.

Young smasher problems...
