Really? How can you guarantee horde encounters though?

I mostly specialize in HA breeding and IV breeding is something I only do on the side, so I don't know about quick EV training other than Super Training.
Sweet Scent.

Let's say I have an Alakazam and I want to max Special Attack. I make it get Pokerus and give it the Power Lens (+4 Sp. Attack EVs)

Frost Cavern has horde battles of Vanillite and Smoochum. I turn EXP Share on (which spreads EVs to all Pokes as well as EXP), have one of my Pokes use Sweet Scent, then have Landorus use Earthquake to kill all the Smoochum or Vanillite in the horde. Surf, Earthquake, Rock Slide, any spread move will do.

Vanillite and Smoochum drop 1 Sp. Attack EV when defeated. The Power Lens adds four more EVs, and Pokerus doubles that. And we defeated five of them.

(( 1 + 4 ) x 2 ) x 5 = 50 Special Attack EVs every horde encounter.

I can even bring other Pokes that want to train with me in the party, so you can max like 3 or 4 Pokes in Special Attack after a few horde battles.

It sounds like a lot at first, but once you try it, you'll never go back to super training again, I promise you. Best locations for what specific stat you want to train in: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/a-guide-to-ev-training-with-hordes.3490052/

I don't really get the point of actually training a team. Is there some reason to waste hours getting a team together to battle online when you could do that instantly with showdown?

I have plenty of guilty pleasures lol like High School of the Dead
That being said, my scope for anime is really large.
Edit: Made a MAL just so you can see everything I've watched, the system is nice so I'll keep updating it and my personal list as well.
http://myanimelist.net/animelist/HyperrCrow
Ooooh boy
I'm not going to comment on that list
Well that's extremely helpful. I'll go by genre:

Romance: Vision of Escaflowne
RomCom: Tsukuyomi -Moonphase-
Action: Redline
Adventure: Katanagatari
Slice of Life Comedy: Squid Girl (You gotta have the ENG Dub on this, or you miss about a bajillion fish puns)
Gag Comedy: Inukami!
Supernatural Thriller: Another
Sci-Fi: Toward the Terra
Supernatural Drama: Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai. (aka AnoHana)
Drama: Gunslinger Girl

Is that good enough?
>Another
I can agree with some suggestions, but Another was terrible. It's just Final Destination with a moe eyepatch girl.

I'd personally recommend Clannad rather than Ano Hana. Not to say it isn't good, I enjoyed it, but I feel Clannad is much more gripping, and I think Ano Hana falls a bit short of the emotions it wants to convey.

Aside from the aforementioned, here's a few that I think you should take a look at, in no particular genre or order:

Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Evangelion, Madoka Magica, Mushishi, Hajime no Ippo, Uchuu Kyoudai, Rainbow, Sakamichi no Apollon, Kaiji, Shinsekai Yori, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Akagi(Mind you this is about Mahjong, so you might want to brush up on your Riichi Mahjong before diving in), Haibane Renmei, Aku no Hana, Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, Joshiraku(Very japanese humor, good if you want to get into their culture some more)

That's a pretty wide spread of genres, styles and atmospheres so I think it'd be a good way to broaden your horizons a bit, which, no offense intended, would probably do you good.

That's not so bad, there's some sense to it.
I had to take Psychology as part of Computer Science.

The only possible explanation I've been able to think of is that they must've thought "These ****ing nerds don't know how to interact with people"
Haha oh man you got the communication class?
That class is so terrible.

I actually said this in chat too, loooool
every once in a while Twitch chat produces something worth reading
most of the time it just further justifies me watching streams popped out

but real talk, Rick and Morty is the best animated show to come out of Adult Swim since the first couple seasons of the Boondocks imo (sadly the last/current season is really not holding up)
Maybe just the best show Adult Swim has put out recently altogether, but I loooove John C. Reilly in Check it Out! (which just further proves that everybody that does guest appearances on Tim and Eric are way funnier than Tim and Eric).

YES can we please talk about how good Rick and Morty is? It's so consistently funny and surprisingly deep and real (Meeseeks and Destroy, Rick Potion #9). Amazing continuity and... **** man I love that show so much. Watched season one 3-4 times now. Dying for season 2.

To practice for VGC events and conventions/cons cause nerds be bringing them pokemans to anime cons and I love beating people and making them salty. Also I agree despite everything getting easy mode in 6th gen it's still a mad chore and takes too long.

EDIT: Rick and Morty is godlike like holy crap it's funny it's pretty much Back to The Future with raunchiness added in.

Another was okay. Not great, but okay. Thriller is pretty empty genre in anime, and Another tries for it. Also, apparently you didn't follow the Another Facebook page, because the screencap edits they made were just glorious.

I just finished Clannad, and I just started Afterstory (I've watched the first two episodes atm). Clannad blew. It was full of Key's gimmickly power of love weird unexplained, unexplored, and flat out ignored excuse plot love magic bull ****. The Fuuka stuff made no sense, it was still a Harem (which is a negative imo). The main heroine was a weak willed pansy; the story is supposed to show how she develops to be more willful, but it fails. The characterization in that show sucked. It had some really cute characters, the romance and comedy were okay, and the animation was very pretty, but the show was unimpressive otherwise, and I'm kind of salty about this because it was super hyped up to me and the show failed all expectations (barring animation quality, which is not very important to me).

AnoHana isn't the greatest drama, but his list made me leery of suggesting a better drama, as they tend to be slower paced. Mushishi is definitely THE best (internal squees abound) supernatural drama anime out there.

Sorry to rant. >.<

You haven't watched Clannad until you've finished Afterstory. It's not at all about Nagisa, it's about Tomoya and how he deals with the new direction his life has taken. I know the first season is very cheesy and kinda bad, but it is absolutely necessary to watch it to understand Afterstory properly. There is a complete change in atmosphere between the two seasons, and I urge you to finish it.

Also yeah I know about the cherry pies, if that's what you're referring to.

I've heard that, which is why I'm sticking with the show. I'm just greatly disappointed with the twenty five episodes I've had to sit through so far, and there's still no development. It's a hugely clumsy move on Key's part, imo. My review was only on season one, though. So if someone wants to sit through a ****ty season before he sees anything good (which is what I am doing cuz idgaf I'm earning my weeaboo stripes back off), then they could totally do watch Clannad.

My statement still stands, though. Mushishi da bess. Once the second season (which fyi is airing now) is done, I'm totally going to marathon that ****.

A more authentic feel?
Pride?
I have no clue.
Some of us have friends who play Pokemon in real life, and I find I have more fun with Pokemon locally than online which usually results in me raging and cursing at RNG. Plus it comforts me knowing I have competent Pokes in my cartridge rather than campaign Pokes with stats all over the place.

Showdown's good for racking up experience quickly, but I always considered Pokemon to be a face-to-face kind of thing like it was back in the day. Technology's made us lose sight of that camaraderie.

Yeah, I started the second season but I'm a bit too busy to watch anime at the moment, since I have summer classes and just started a new job. I'll definitely catch up when I'm done though.

Lol was my list that bad?
Also I have Clannad and plan to watch Evangelion soon. My list currently is composed of a bunch of weird anime with a couple of good ones because I'm saving all the other good stuff for last. I have like 50 shows on my HDD I need to start. Regardless though I'll take a look through some of your suggestions.

Both LotGH and Hajime no Ippo are pretty long, topping 100 at ~150 and ~125 episodes respectively. Uchuu Kyoudai falls just short of the three digits at 99 episodes.

Between the two of us that's 27 shows. You won't remember what real people look like anymore when you're done. Especially Legend of the Galactic heroes. I haven't touched that show yet because of it's length.
There's no way I'm watching that lol.
The only long show I've kept up with is Fairy Tail, and even that's becoming a drag. No matter how good the plot may be in LotGH, the length plus the art style just sends me packing. I have a thing where shows that aren't visually appealing to a certain extent just get shut out.
I think the longest show I've even dedicated myself to watch will be Black Butler/Shakugan no Shana/Ikki Tousen. Besides those, I don't watch anything that's more than 26 episodes.

Longest thing I watched on purpose was Inuyasha. Totally not worth it. Longest thing I've enjoyed is Cardcaptor Sakura.

My two months of anime doesn't include any of the hentai I've watched because I don't keep track of that ****. It would probably add another month on if I did, though, considering rewatches.

I personally think LotGH looks fantastic, but whatever floats your (nice) boat.
You're missing out on a lot of great stuff because of your silly preferences.

That's a huge investment of time. I could watch more than 12 shows in that time. I gather that you're recommending them because you like them, but that's a huge commitment. If you haven't noticed, my watching list is like 30 shows.

I gave it a 3.5/5, which means I thought it was pretty average. @ standardtoaster standardtoaster inadvertently chose my current avatar when I posted a list of stuff and he was the first to respond, so it's my avatar for the month. I'm pretty proud of my fake cereal box cover images collection, so I'll let someone choose a different box cover next month.

If a series is really long (and episodic) I have no problem skipping ahead since whatever happened in between is either unimportant enough not to be seen again or will be repeated in some form throughout the whole series.

I really want to live in a place where the nearest active smasher isn't 70 minutes away and the next nearest few aren't 2 hours away
And the nearest tourney scene isn't 3 hours away
Where tha PM at indeed
