I'm glad SSB4 is a faster paced game than Brawl, but I have a feeling that I'll just go back to PM after a few months from release.

Looking at the Direct again and again and just seeing how gorgeous this game is (even sneaking the old Smash 64 theme in there) makes me almost tear up.

I know we like to give Sakurai a lot of sh*t, sometimes joking, sometimes not......but at the end of the day we gotta give the guy credit. The man works his ass off to give us these amazing games.
As time goes by I've been able to appreciate Brawl and Macs, moreso Brawl.
YOOOOOOO so I just figured out you can do brawl platform cancels pretty easily in PM by just holding A and tapping down on the c-stick as you pass through a moving platform
guess I know what I'm practicing all night
Yes, and somehow Snake can do it on non-moving platforms (idk if he could it on non-moving platforms in Brawl, don't think he could)

If you want to give your general location, I can update ya if I find a Smash scene/Smasher near you.
I think both Sakurai and the PMBR can learn from each other

I have great respect for Mr. Sakurai because although he kind of failed a bit with Brawl and also got much negative feedback, he steps it up and presents an awesome game, listening to the community and implementing much of what they wanted.

Also I assume there won't be that many ATs which make up at least some part of the beauty in Smash for me.
PM still has some stuff to learn from Brawl, and I'm sure that when Smash 4 is out it will carry a lot of ideas to put into PM ("Why didn't we think of that?")

Brawl was sort of an answer to feedback on Melee, it tried to make the mechanics easier, and come up with some new ones
Reviewers have welcomed the simplistic controls,[2][18][58] but its "hyper-responsiveness", with the characters easily dashing and precise movements being difficult to perform, was expressed as a serious flaw of the game by GameSpot.[53] With a milder criticism of controls, Bryn Williams of GameSpy commented that "movement and navigation seems slightly too sensitive".[58] The basis of Melee's gameplay system is the battles between Nintendo characters, which has been suggested as being overly hectic; N-Europe questioned whether the gameplay is "too Frantic?", even though they enjoyed the variety of modes on offer.[60] Similarly, Nintendo Spin's Clark Nielsen stated that "Melee was too fast for its own good", and "skill was more about just being able to wrap your head around what was happening as opposed to really getting into the combat".[61] In regards to the pace of the game, Edge commented that it even made gameplay features such as "blocking" redundant, as the player is not given enough time to react to an attack.[57]

Despite the new features, reviews criticized Melee for a lack of originality and for being too similar to its predecessor, Super Smash Bros. Caleb Hale from GameCritics.com rated it as "every bit as good as its Nintendo 64 predecessor. The game doesn't expand much past that point".[62] On a similar note, Edge stated that "it's not evolution; it's reproduction", in reference to a perceived lack of innovation.[57] The nostalgic nature of the game received a positive reaction,[2] as well as the accompanying stages and items that made references to past Nintendo games.[60] Gaming journalists have welcomed the roster of 25 Nintendo characters,[2][58] as well as the "trophy system", which Nintendo Spin labeled as "a great addition to this game".[58][63]

Also I'm sure Smash 4 will have some weird ATs, but maybe a lot of the Brawl ATs would have been fixed if it weren't slightly rushed
Hey guys. I'm back with another design. I like this one the best, personally.
Looks a lot better, just don't put a huge stop sucking logo on it lol.

you can do it by tapping down on both control and cstick as you pass through the platform

im still salty that they took out the easy way of doing it - tap down only on the control stick as youre passing.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this in the direct. I thought it was hilarious. Sakurai is so damn clever sometimes.
This was on the list of Sakurai trolling.

His substitute.
His Zero Suit Samus fake out.
His Ridley boss character shadow
His Waluigi being on the keyboard when mentioning assist trophies helping the characters.

Since Project: Melee is a legit game now, why does smashboards not have a character icon for it? I'd like to display my mains from all 4 games...I don't know who to talk to about that.

:mewtwomelee: and :roymelee: are definitely not in brawl and not everyone uses the same characters in PM as they do in brawl. I use :wolf: in brawl, :falcon: in 64, :jigglypuff: in melee, and :diddy: in PM. I'd like to have a slot for all of them.

small m doesn't work, icons are too small.

it would be nice to have a slot but it's not feasible in the long run unless the PMBR made their own icons

Take it back, you god damn skank.

Also, I'd be all for custom CSS/Stock Icons in future versions of PM that would then translate into unique icons on the forum.

Quick question, besides Peach, can any other characters DJ-land OoS? The only one I'm thinking might also have it is Yoshi, and I guess his aerial OoS game would be better for the most part anyways.

Yeah, I know, Project M technical talk in the social thread.

Edit: Might as well ask another. Anyone know how much lag the landing incurs?

Mewtwo can do Peach things. Yoshi requires you to throw out a move to hit the ground faster. Ness and Lucas can also DJC like Yoshi.

I'm aware of which characters can DJC. I'm talking about the dip that happens during the second jump that causes you to land if you DJ just above the ground. For example, if you jump OoS with Peach and DJ the frame after you leave the ground you will immediately land and can effectively do stuff like dsmash OoS. What I'm asking is if there are other characters with a DJ animation that will also allow this.

I think Yoshi, maybe m2 can do it. I Know yoshi could do it in melee. At the very least you could do the instant DJC thing that auto-cancels the aerial for you with all the other DJC characters.
